But what you have to keep in mind is. Software is working in the background if you are using it or not.E.g.If you are using push email that is always using the 3G/2G radio in a idle mode to see if you have new email coming in. That uses power.If your bluetooth is on, its in a idle mode and is always looking for your paired devices to see if any of them are trying to connect.
If you setup your contects to sync with a Google account. Then your phone is always using yiur 3G/2G radio to see if yiu change anything in yiur Google account from a next device to see if it has to be synced to your phone.
Apps like fb viber what's app and more are always running in the background and access your 3G and gps. Every time you do an online search your gps wifi are used as well to determine your locatin and give you relevant results.
In short....
If you leave it on, it will be used by the phone and it's software. Even when you the human user is not using it. And id it's being used its also using power.

I have used used many smartphones and to be honest Samsung is not that lame anyway there are few things you need to keep in mind
1 use it like a phone (what I mean is gaming hd and using it like there is no end is stupidity switch that phone off !!!! )
2 don't charge while using the phone
secondly there are many batteries in the market there is even 6000 mah unofficial it will screw your phone so go for that buy the original s3 3000 mah battery releasin on Jan 5 specially done for s3

And can safely say battery life didn't improve from version to version. I get about 16 hours a day with what I call normal use.

There is nothing wrong with the battery, only people who don't know how to use the phone properly.
There is a simple way to improve the battery life - think 'USE IT OR LOSE IT'.
If you're not using 3G... Turn it off. The same goes for wi-fi, GPS, living wallpapers etc.
Think of it as a car. Would you leave the engine running if you weren't using it? Of course you wouldn't.
I regularly manage 2 days use from one charge just by turning off things I am not using, and have even managed 3 days sometimes.

Im using SGS3 and want to share the things I experienced..
whole features are good and work well. but the battery is really weak. I have to charge it for almost 3 times in a day - normal usage.
and the internal memory storage isnt 16gb (i bought the 16gb) is only availabe for 11.35gb. dont know if the ROM used it as well.
for those who wants to buy thid phone, you better buy the spare battery too.
cant wait for the JellyBeans update here : heard that the battery usage will be improved fron the sys usage.
great phone anyway.
