Hi guys I have a question.one of my friends lives in in Iran and he says he can't update his device.not even to 4.1.1.and he's wondering if it's because there is something wrong with his phone.is it true?And how can he update his phone?

I actually reinstalled the update last night via Kies and seems like the RAM issue is resolved. I am still testing the phone as I am commenting. Haven't got a chance to play games on it yet. Hope it won't crash like it did last night before my reinstall.

abcde, 05 Dec 2012when i connect my s3 to my laptop i didn't see a word remov... moreYes that is normal on this phone.. This phone dose not connect to your PC with a Mass storage mode.
Instead it uses Portable Device standard MTP or Digital Camera standard PTP
Because of this you can drag and drop from my computer but none of the programs on your PC that use the Mass storage mode will be able to save directly to the card.
It sucks big time.

Been using it for nearly 6 months, fantastic phone no regrets at all. Jelly bean update is great. Exynos quad core is super fast. Hardly use my PC now.

USB1.1, thin gage wires in USB cable, muck in port, slack fitting cables, cables that are too long. Laptops that reduce power to the port when running on battery. Towers that have low powered front ports. And there are more…

Find a way to clean it (rocking the cable in the port has worked for me in the past with older phones) or you could use a usb cable with thicker gage wires.
I use Cbus Wireless flat data cables. I have 3 in different colours. (home, car & office)
But I see that brand is out of stuck. Below is the link to the same type of cable in a different brand, you can use as a reference.

most blackberry cable have high gage wires as well. (stay away from nokia branded cables)
note: the higher the gage of wire the shorter the charge time.
I destroy cables all the time. so the above is from personal experience.

gary, 05 Dec 2012Even i have the same question- how can i connect my Samsung... moreI had a problem connecting the Galaxy to my Acer laptop at home (driver not recognised) im running windows 7 however after i installed Kies (the samsung official software) and also connected the device directly to the laptop usb (first time i tried to connect it through a usb hub) ..... however when i connected the galaxy to my work laptop (Dell running on windows XP) it connected immediately.
BTW im running android version 4.1.1
