Even i have the same question- how can i connect my Samsung S3 with my Lenovo laptop? do i need to download something in my laptop before connecting them ?
I want to use the net connection in my phone on my laptop and also want to transfer pics and songs in my laptop.

Anthony, 04 Dec 2012There are different levels off not getting connected which ... morewhenever i try connecting it, its just keep connecing and disconnecting. it gets disconnected every 20 seconds and then it again connects and again disconnects. so no way i can use it for transferring data

practically more users friendly in comparison to others.

may i give u the solution
thats a faulty update u have got
so go to recovery menu volume up+menu button+power button all at the same time till samsumng logo appears
with the volume button got to wipe cash then press the power button
again go to wipe data and cash do the same
then u r free to go :)
if not the download the whole new rom from samfirmware . com and flash through odin v3.0
jb is butter smooth, u will find millions of videos on youtube about how to flash with odin it takes 5 minutes :) but also wipe cash and data before odin to have a clean update

1. You plug it in and it tries to install plug & play drivers and fails. (you need to download drivers)
2. you plug it in and the lightning comes on the battery but nothing happens on the PC (the USB port on the Laptop is not giving enough power, it may be USB 1.1)
3. You plug it in and thing happens on the PC or the phone. (the cable is bad or the port on the phone is still not clean)
4. You plug it in and drivers are installed and working but you can’t get it connected with kies. (kies is just stupid like that. and if you ever get it working count your self as one of the lucky few.)

Turning off the phone.
As it is turning off key your fingers on volume up, home and power key at the same time.
It will restart. When you see the android on your screen take your hands off the power key, then off the rest of keys.
use the volume keys to go to (wipe cache partition) and the power key to enter.
Then use the volume key to go to (wipe data/factory reset) and the power key to enter
Then use the volume key to go to (reboot system now) and the power key to enter.
If after doing this you still have the problems
You can go to sammoible web page and download your original 4.0.4 ROM
And use Odin3 to flash your phone back to that version.

I have recently updated to 4.1.1 for my Siii GT-i9300 bought in Hong Kong with Build No# JRO03C.I9300ZSDLK2.
Here's a list of problems I'm encountering:
- battery drain very fast; I ended up installing Green Power from the Samsung App Store to help better manage battery drainage via data connection management.
- 1GB RAM has only 778MB to start with and usually only has about 100MB free after all my apps are up and running so I have to clear my RAM a lot more often.
- Was playing some games and crashed a few times and go straight back out to my main phone screen. The game app just crashed so I gave up playing any games at all.
- Phone lags when pressing the Home button to exit out from an app or going into the App menu. This usually happens after having too much apps accessed; RAMs just not enough.
- Switching between keyboards takes a long time; for example, switching from Samsung keyboard to a Chinese keyboard
- Copy & paste and selecting text works sometimes but other times just not functioning correctly.
I had to reset my phone to factory default once and to clear up some of the laggings. Still the problem above just don't exert the level of trust and reliability as ICS. Luckily I only updated my phone and not wife's Siii. I rather go back to ICS 4.04 until the have a more reliable firmware update.
Frustrated. I have noted on Samsung Mobile HK Facebook page and they replied me, surprisely, that they channeling my feedback. Many users pressed their frustration and concerns since the update push about a month ago. Seriously many has noted in their page and still gets no resolution!
Maybe it's a region specific update that's causing these problems.

Doesn’t display calibration have to do with accuracy of the touch input and to some extent the accuracy of colour output?

If you are running Jelly Bean on your S3 then you will find calibration under Settings>>>Motion>>>Sensitivity settings>>>Gyroscope calibration.
On firmware before that I believe it was just Settings>>>Display>>>Horizontal Calibration (but I can't remember now).

Go to settings-motion-sensitivity setting-gyroscope calibration. place ur s3 on a level surface and tap calibrate........

[deleted post]you no longer need to send it back. what ever was bringing the pins was removed by plunging in the phone and unplugging it 3 time. for me that has a much older HD2 with much more grime from a busy live, i had to rock the cable side to side to clear it.
the problem will only start again if you get more crap stuck in the USB port of the phone, so try to keep the cable connections clean and don't put your phone usb port facing down in a filthy pockets.
