I ran Antutu n it says my device is genuine with octa 4+4 cpu as u said..then d 1st 3 points I already did..n as u said I opened d developer option..now as u r saying if I scale down to 0.5x then won't I get prblm in playing games like Hungry shark..subway n temple run..pls confirm? & wat is force gpu rendering..if I turn it on as u said won't it affect my device? As of now I kept developer option off.

ddaz, 16 May 2014Hi Shubham..tell me how can I check d genuiness of my Blac... moreInstall an app named cpu z. Tell me which processor you see. It should be exynos 5 octa. The no. Of cores must be 4+4. That will prove that it's genuine.
Talking about the heat, purchase the s-view cover. Also do some tweaks that I tell you. You're phone will work like a charm after these:
1. Go to application manager in settings menu. Go to the all apps tab and disable samsung push, Samsung link and other Samsung apps that you don't use. They eat into RAM and easy battery too.
2. If you've enabled power saving mode. Disable it for cpu power saving and screen power saving. They really make phone slow.
3. Go to settings> wifi> advanced and turn off the scanning always visible toggle.
4. Now enable the developer options. This is hidden. To enable it, go to settings> more> about phone and click repeatedly on the build number for 4-5 times. Developer options will be available.
5. Go in developer options, set all the three animation scales to 0.5x and enable 'Force gpu rendering'.
Now your phone will be super smooth and battery life will also increase drastically.
Ask any question or difficulty you faced in following these steps. Please inform me if they helped.

Frankly speaking. Don't update to 4.4.2. It's not as bad as people say but whichever way you put it, it's worse than 4.3. The performance is improved and the phone us super smooth now. But the heating has increased and battery life decreased.
If you desperately want to upgrade to kitkat, do it. It's not much worse. But 4.3 was slightly more stable. I would suggest to wait for a good and stable update.

I bought my galaxy s4 2 months ago..its beast but past few days i have noticing that the metal coated trim around my s4 is making sound after pressing it under power button..
Its making me mad and i have started worrying abt it

How is battery l... moreI have used it for an year and I'm yet happy with it. The phone works the way you want it. And after 4.4 update, the phone is really flying. The performance has only increased with time. The display is gorgeous and is the second best display in the market, first being the s5. The battery life is really good and gets better if you optimise it. My phone is an year old and I still get 5-6 hours of on screen time and 1 day of super heavy use.
Yes the s4 comes in octa core and octa core version is much better than quad core version in camera, music and performance. I own the octa core variant. The octa core version doesn't mean that it runs 8 cores. It can only run 4 cores at a time. The phone has 8 cores. 4 are cortex a7 cores which are very power efficient and save battery when using low power tasks like listening to music and 4 are cortex a15 cores which are very powerful and run when you trigger a game or any intensive task. So its more like a dual quad core rather than octa core but it's really good processor.

I would advice to use a UHS I sd card. Use the 64 gb SanDisk one. It's much better in handling full hd videos. Even I use a Samsung 64 gb UHS I card.

Lets start:
Looks and Ergonomics: xperia z looks beautiful and better than s4 to be frank. It is even wafted and dust resistant. But s4 is much smaller and easier to handle. It also has capacitive buttons below the screen, which make full screen to be used. On screen buttons on xperia z make only about 4.7 inch of screen usable. This round I'll call a tie. Both have their advantages.
Screen: xperia z had the worst screen I've seen in my life. It's lifeless with pathetic viewing angles. Really the screen is a bummer on xperia z. The s4 has a class leading screen and xperia z's screen really pales in comparison.
Battery life: s4 clearly wins with almost double on screen time.
Chipset or performance: s4 has cortex a15 cpu which is almost 1.5 times more powerful.
Camera: both have identical sensors. But s4 has a better camera app and Also much more better image processing. So s4 has clearly better photos. Xperia z compresses photos too much.
UI: this is a personal preference. Both ui are very good. Touchwiz is more functional whereas Sony's ui looks better.
So now you see, xperia z really pales in front of s4.
