AnonD-1894, 14 Jul 2013hey Shubham Quick question for u... if u do factory reset ... moreinstall androzip and back up the apps in sd card and also backup contacts via contacts app.

for installing via kies:
1. install kies on pc.
2. connect ur phone via usb cable to pc
3. run kies.
4. there will be an option to upgrade firmware.
5. the rest u will do urselves.

installing via kies has an advantage. it installs the whole new firmware instead of only the updated files. it cleans any bugs or corrupt files and hence is like a clean install. one downside is that it installs the whole 1.5 GB firmware. i just prefer kies update.

2 broken screens in 1 week

ddas, 14 Jul 2013Yes Shubham, mine too says "Permissive"..& ev... morei'll update it today. i install the full firmware from kies and not only the OTA one and its always around 1.4-1.5 GB. it's always better. also i do a factory reset before and after firmware updates.

what is the problem with "Permissive"

ddas, 14 Jul 2013Finally had my "white frost beauty S4" yday. 2nd ... morei have also had a great experience with my S4. i'm from ankleshwar(near SURAT). i had written my experience from my s4 long ago.

about the heat and battery drain problem don't worry. when you install an update the system and cpu optimize apps and hence bbattery drains faster. it will be much less after a week or 2-3 days. so no worries.

tip: go to settings, more tab, application manager and in all tab disable apps like s link, samsung push and if possible google maps. they constantly drain battery. hope it helps.

Finally had my "white frost beauty S4" yday. 2nd day of usage got 4updates so far,i.e.4 reboots (approx. 343,22,18 & 48MBs, last update says July 2,2013).
                Pros:
                1. Who says it doesn't have a premium look? Just have hands on experience 1st. The plastic body has given a glossy & premium look much better than S3.(S4 looks nothing in pictures, in hand it looks way better atleast the white model).
2.If it was not plastic then it wud b heavy, thats y its very light & slim (which I liked the most).
3.Not big in size but screen is big..too good (easily fits in palm being slim & sleek)
4.Many additional features, don't how many will use it regularly..but good for sometimes fun.
5.Display is brilliant, quick adjustable to surrounding light (but not as good as S2 under sunlight).
                6.Sound quality marvellous.

                Cons:
1.Battery drains faster even if taking utmost care(like closing bckgrnd apps, auto light mode, power saver..etc). But keeping net ON for atleast 8hrs for chatting & browsing.
2.Little heats up while charging spclly :(

Else sum1 can share & tell me their own experience on S4. I'm frm Pune..Thanx :)

diana, 12 Jul 2013I am facing a problem with the battery...i need recharge it... moreHey.
Your battery might be draining fast because of the applications that keep running in the background. So whenever you wanna quit an app, use the back button instead of the home button. The back button closes the applications while the home key just minimises them. Many people have the habit of using the home key for closing apps and they sit and complain that their battery drains fast and the phone is shitty and stuff.
second, turn on power saving mode. it does not affect the perfomance of the phone while at the same time it conserves battery by closing all unwanted applications.
if u have a packet data connection, turn it off when you dont need it.(Another major reason why people complain about less battery life :/)
adjust the brightness. dont keep it too bright nor too dull.
try turning off the wifi, gps and bluetooth toggles in the notification bar.
that might help you solve your problem. :)

AnonD-61409, 14 Jul 2013Hello good S4 users. I'd like to ask a couple of question o... morehey eisley, don't care about ram on a 2GB DDR3(s4 is only phone with DDR3 now HTC ONE and z being DDR2) RAM phone. you always have more than 800 MB+ free. after a fresh reboot i have 1.3-1.4GB free. so RAM is never a problem even after heaviest of use. after disabling many s apps like s link, samsung push etc, the free ram increases. so don' t worry about RAM.

the google play edition will have more than 1.2-1.4GB free RAM and it would be a waste of 2GB RAM as there is no way to utilise 2GB RAM. also you will loose all of the cool features of phone.

between HTC ONE and S4 it's a tough call. i can just give you an idea. read GSMARENA's comparison B/w both for detailed info:

                                      HTC ONE advantages:
                                      brilliant unibody
                                      boomsound speakers(deeper sound than S4)
optical image stabilization and ZOE, better low light camera
                                      smooother and sleeker UI(sense 5)

                                      S4 advantages:
                                      smaller footprint despite larger screen
5 inch brilliant super amoled screen with deep blacks
less charging time: 1hr 45min vs 4 hr on HTC ONE
                                      more battery life.
                                      SD card slot
                                      removable battery
significantly better camera with many great features and good UI
                                      more features
touchwiz is user friendly and you can do more with everything
more sensors(pedometer, hygroscope, baromter, temp. sensor etc.)
                                      DDR3 ram and faster chipset

so i advise youto go with either S4 or htc one and not their google play editions as you will lose many cool features.

ADVISE: go with S4 if you can handle that plastic body. it has more advantages and better support through frequent updates.
