Samsung files a complaint against BOE

In late October this year, Samsung filed a complaint against BOE in the United States International Trade Commission, accusing BOE of unfair competition and using stolen intellectual property of Samsung to produce OLED display modules.

Samsung is launching a lawsuit against BOE

The two tech giants have a history. A couple of years ago, Samsung Display tried to stop the wholesalers from dealing with OLED panels in the US, as it claimed they are illegally produced in China using stolen technologies. This wasn't a direct attack on BOE at the time, but BOE responded by footing the bill for the wholesalers. These actions prompted ITC to take action and launch an investigation in early 2023.

Following that BOE launched several lawsuits against Samsung in China, but not just against Samsung Display, the Chinese display maker is also suing the semiconductor, investment and vision branches. Perhaps that's why Samsung is now aiming directly at BOE.

It's important to note that BOE is fighting for a spot on Apple's supplier list for OLED panels but struggles to meet the strict quality control. This year, Apple was forced to rely on Samsung once again for the iPhone 15 panels and kept BOE out of the order once again.

Can't wait to spend twice as much on a Samsung screen replacement since they would be the only company left. No competition.
