Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) gets Oreo two months ahead of schedule
Back in the summer, Samsung said some devices that are over two years old will receive the Android Oreo update, starting December with the Galaxy J7 Neo, followed by over ten phones in January 2019. One of the devices on that list was the Galaxy A9 Pro (2016), but it turns out some units in Vietnam are already receiving the new OS.
The OTA package is 2.09 GB in size, which might be troublesome for users that are already nearing their 32 GB storage capacity. The rollout is in stages, so it might take some time to reach everyone across the globe.
The new Android Oreo 8.0, topped with Samsung Experience UI 9.0 brings some nifty features like notification dots, night light, and Picture-in-Picture mode. Like it or not, adaptive icons are also part of the deal, meaning some apps are bound to now have a white outline if they don’t comply with Google’s requirements for icon design.
The 5,000 mAh battery of the Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) should get even better endurance following the update. If the build A910FXXU1CRIA does not arrive automatically, visit the Software Update menu in Settings for a manual check.
