I think i have diagnosed the problem. The problem is with my particular network-cell I move in. I changed my cell moving some Kms away, as suggested by the customer care, and it worked pretty fine. I have lodged the complaint about the my particular network-cell and they say the problem will be rectified within the 48 hours.

some peoples have wrong idea that this phone cannot support other applications of java............but i want to assure you all that this phone can install any application (*which is compatible with it) without GPRS.......i myself have done.........i installed many java games,x-ray scanner,microsoft word,face detection software etc.......

fardeen, 12 Sep 2009If you have patience then wait for nokia 5230 to get launch... moreu have an wrong idea about samsung phone.........its camera is too good................and nokia with 2 mgp is not good like that...................but the samsung battery has low capability..thats the only matter.........

Doesn't the Samsung Star come with a stylus? Just got mine and cannot find one anywhere!! And how does one download and upload themes onto the phone? Zedge.com says that themes are not supported by this phone or they have no content???

i want install software and games in my sam... moreway to install games & applications on your star
1. First download a java game compatible for your phone.
2.Create a jad file using JADMaker (Download JadMaker from games & software section).
3.Just drag and drop your .jar file and the jad maker will automatically make the .jad file.
4. Connect the phone to PC and start "Samsung New PC Studio". Open the File browser and go to "External Memory". Create a directory there e.g games
5.Then copy the .jar and .jad files into that folder.
6.Disconnect the phone from PC now.
7.Go to Menu -> Browse -> Enter URL
Type -> http://m.GetJar.com
8.Browse down and you will see "Quick Download". Click it. Then enter quick download code as 51799 . Download and install it. Exit from browser.
9.Go to Menu -> Applications -> Games and more -> LiteFTP
10.You will be in LiteFTP menu
Select Mmc (Memory card) and click OK.
11.You should be able to see the folders in memory card. Select games folder (dont enter it) and press "123" button. Then press "1" (This will copy the game folder). Select "Back". You should be back in "root" directory.
12.In root directory you will see a folder with "dont enter" symbol named "My PrivateMy PhotoMy Video .......". Select it and press OK to enter it.
13.There will be nothing in the folder. Now paste the game folder. So press "3" to paste.
Exit the LiteFTP.
14. Open "Keypad" and type "*#6984125*#" (Without quotes)
This will automatically open "Admin setting"
Select "4 Internals" and enter "*#9072641*#" (without quotes). And confirm. This will take you to "Internals" menu. Select "6 Storage settings".
15. Select "2 Update media database"
then select "3 Update Java DB"
then select "10 Create Ax Dat File"
Exit from all those menus.
16.Now go to Menu -> Applications -> "Games and more" You should be able to see new icon "LiteFTP/files/Erix". Rename it if you want to. Then start the game.

otherwise u could use a graphic tool. just include your picture on a colored rectangle (720 x 400).

Looks great,camera is pretty good when it captures still image but not satisfactory when records video...More over,installetion of apps or games are not supported...Large touchscreen is also attractive though less colourful...No TV out,3G,WLAN in this phone has made it backdated but the easy interface and the accelerometer are welcomed...At last,I must say,the BEST phone you can get in this affordable price.Though it lacks many things,it's great for it's style.I want to compare it's value with Nokia 6300.It's good looking,reliable but not ultra modern.True style,never shouts...

This techie geeks are making life for us cell phone users complicated.. I personally don't care about what this cell phone doesn't have with other cell phones! Each people have their own suit of taste and budget on getting a cell phone! Y u always comparing this star on other cell phones?! Come on men!, Get a life! I personally think it looks cool.. features are great for its PRICE!
It looks very elegant especially with the BLACK flip down leather case.. And with the MIRROR SCREEN protector with anti glare and anti finger print protection!
