Physical outlook is good, lite weight, good dimensions, and calibration is average good,
but
slow processing, a big problem is while the phone is On but you cant recieve a call from others, this problem is identified only to whom who can activate the Miss call alert/notification feature from there service provider.

Hey evryone. This fone is awesome, yes the Mxit takes time getting used to but wow the display is amazing, almost like an Iphone with the exclusion of 3g for fast internet, wifi and video calling. I havent experienced any signal related problems so far, and must admit my sister has a nokia 5800 xpres music and to type a message is nt fun but on this samsung star its excellent! The handwriting recognition is great too. Not a gaming phone at all not that you want to replace your PS3. The camera works as a 3mp camera should and the smile detection is a nifty feature. Very glad i took the star over the lg cookie. For some reason in south africa the cookie is more expensive then this phone, dont knw how that works. The stylus should have been attached to the body but you dont need it. Best samsung so far! Next phone, new lg chocolate, pray it gets to south africa, its spec sheet is wow. Until then, happy as a bunny!

Brandon, 26 Aug 2009Hey. Thankz alot. I am going to buy the star. Just one more... moreI have baught Samsung Star S5233. It comes with the stylus which can not fit in the phone. You can tie it with the phone. I think it is not a good idea to have stylus dangling from the phone.

Hey Brandon how's the phone? I got it too thanks to all of you, it's great so far, takes some getting used to when on Mxit but nice and responsive. NOT dissapointed at all.

Folks,
Samsung Star is a good phone but there is a grave problem here. We use phone mainly for communication. All other features are just secondary. I bought the samsung star s5233 last week. The phone was pretty good ,but was dropping the signal many times. Sometimes 4 to 5 times a day. I have swithc off and on to get the signal back. I used the same airtel simcard in sony and nokia and there were no Issues. Yesterday,I took the phone to samsung service. They are saying it is a software problem and are giving me a new phone..
I am going to get the new phone tomorrow. but wondering will it have the same Issue again ?

Can anybody suggest me , How to install Games in S5233 ? I tried downloading from http://m.getjar.com , but it says access denied. Can anyone help me the easiest way to install the games ? Thanks in Advance.

just bought the ph quite decent and quite responsive might take a bit time to get used to the touch screen calibration is ok type's the latest firmware allows u to install java ph with old firmware wouldn't recognise jar files
ph has reject list which is the best feature
facebook,myspace and youtube preloaded
ph's good worth the money
just wanted to know from where can i download widgets

It's a very good one. No WIFI supported but the screen, interface works perfect. Very slim and ligh phone.

Anonymous, 26 Aug 2009when i move it scrolls very fast wat is the way to scrol it... moretry moving your finger diagonally while scrolling, and move it a bit slower.
It will make phone list scroll slower.

5230 is not available here in india!!!
and someone please tell nokia to stop giving the identical names to the phones.... 5230 5130 5220 5320..... and they're not even in da same price range.. ???
and pls stop appraising nokia..... Its damn slow......
OS speed can never b compared to samsung/sony products

when i move it scrolls very fast wat is the way to scrol it in slow position.as it is troubling while moving it slowly or reading or selecting something very slowly.

Kapow! Thanks a mil. Im sold nw, gonna buy it now. It seems lg and samsung are direct competitors and when lg brought owt cookie and see how successful that was and then samsung wants that market too. It really silly tho abt the stylus hanging off the phne like a mascara haha, it reminds me of that screen cleaner cloth thing that came with the lg chocolate(kg 800). But i stil love the design and overall specs. Awesome!

Just one more... moreThis is a very good phone.....it comes with Stylus but it can't fit in body you have to hang it in phone....but i never used stylus as it is very comfortable using this phone witout stylus as well, touch response is really gr8 and qwerty keyboard too..I have never used qwerty keyboard before but i felt very comfortable using its qwerty keyboard......

Hi, can anybody help me to install opera mini in S5233 star? i downloaded it from opera site.But when i open browser in my mobile it says phone model could not be found and not getting installed.
