king bro i need to ask one thing from you .. i had htc s710 earlier.. so i maintained the backup of my contacts n messages from jeyo software.. the back is in xml file.. how can i restore that backup in my star..

hi soham.. yea i asked the dealer he told me the lastest packs of samsung star is not coming with the leather cover. he told me earlier the phone come with the leather cover.but now it is not coming with the leather cover

apoorv, 17 Jul 2009hi frnz i bought the phone today but i didnt got the leathe... moredont knw but the pack shd come with 2covers one plain & one with plastic on top the leather which also cover the front screen

i purchaced samsung star s 5230 a week earlier.
its very nice looking phone with smart features,
fully touch screen,nice battery life.
but it lacks themes and software downloads..
but value for money phone,

i jst wanted knw a few thing abt the firmware which is the hoy topic now
1.when was it realsed
2.is there any improvement in the music management?
a)like can we chg the song order in the playlist
bcoz the in the one out of the box we can't(u shd already knw tht though :P)
b)in music library>all tracks can we go directly to 'S' or 't'like in phonebook,,,,,,,
3)can we install real player on it now,,,,,

btw, who makes these new firmwares?
if samsung does, why dont they post these firmwares on their sites?
and why will it void the warranty if you upgrade the firmware?

i want to buy this mobile.pls reply my some q... more1.opera mini is supported but the in-built browser is better than opera mini.
2.camera indoor result is gr8. no grains in the pics. night mode is excellent.
3.has good fm reception but not excellent.
4.battery quality is excellent. gives 13 hours talktime. mine lasts 3 to 3.5 days between each charging.
5.no u can't install games or softwares unless u upgrade the firmware version, which is a fairly simple process and takes less than 5 minutes.

Andyr, 17 Jul 2009dont you just wish in the settings u could have an option t... morei wish that in the next firmware upgrade, they include some "useful" icons rather than the useless ones like photobucket, flikr n picasa. we hardly use them.
shortcuts to display settings, profile settings and a separate menu for java applications wud've been better.
yes in touchscreen phones it is usual that when we touch the topmost area, a page displaying the signal strength, battery strength, and other useful info to be displayed.
the widget bar should come out only when we touch on the widget tag (the arrow at the bottom). and a touch on any part of the screen should lead to the main menu.

theres one more thing i need to ask... the phone here in the gsmarena..is of samsung star.. here the middle part of the phone is kinda of dark grey .. but mine is silver.
is that like this phone is available in different colours.. my box as noble black
and aslo i got the stylus .. which is very different from the picture shown in gsm arena.. the one i got is small. pen with a cap... not like the one showed..in gsmarena.. plz tell me know guys did u got the same...

hi guys finally.. got the phone after around 2 months as first i need to sell my htc s710.. i m following this forum from the day it started...
i got the phone for 9200... but the main dispointing.. part is that..i didnt got the cover with the phone .. i bought the phone from my friend... n he told me that now the phone dont come with the cover.. ..is there anyone who also didnt got the leather cover... is there anyother better cover that one can buy ..

updated mine today to S5230XEIG2 firmware from S5230XXIE7 Firmware. boot files as well I did. PC Studio (version 1.2.0 IF1) recognising my phone perfectly on COM6 in Windows XP Home.Just thought I would let you all know. Andy.

dont you just wish in the settings u could have an option to remove the slide out widget bar altogether and that when you tap on the speaker icon at the top of the screen it would put phone into silent profile or shortcut to the sound profile menu instead of it sliding out the widget bar. its only logical to have it this way but somewhere along the way the manufacturers dont see this. where is the logic in that touching any part of the screen that the widget bar must slide out!
