mj, 05 Jul 2009hi king! i got my STAR last night but i'm still new with it... morehi... congrats on ur new phone.
well the trick to open the back cover is not to pull it apart directly.
1.put ur finger over the back-cover on the right of the camera lens.
2.slowly apply pressure DOWN-wards... NOT OUT-wards.
3.the back cover comes down. now pull it out. it comes off.

Andyr, 05 Jul 2009Did you have the phone in silent profile? - maybe alarm won... morehey i finally solved the alarm problem in my fone. its ringing now. n it stops when u press any key, even the camera button.
the slider feature to stop the alarm is a bit messy, yes. reminds me of the "slide to unlock" feature in the iphone. n u have to drag it all the way to the "STOP" mark, else the slider returns to the starting point n u have to drag it again all the way to the stop mark. it makes sure u r fully awake by the time u stop the alarm.
hehe... funny n stupid yet smart way to wake sum1 up from sleep. hehe...

eh... how i miss my nokia. even babies can set alarms on those phones.

king, 04 Jul 2009yeah... the ring after a few seconds problem yet has no sol... moredo you like the way u have to silence the alarm on this samsung star? when it goes off u have to slide a block to the 'stop' area - is there any less fiddly way to stop the alarm? - what about pressing a button on the phone to stop alarm or will that just 'snooze' the alarm?

king, 04 Jul 2009yeah u're rite bro. all those chinese phones have such high... moreA chinese phone I had that had stereo speakers and 3D stereo sound coming out on the built in speaker(s)!! - the ringtones were something else in stereo sounded excellant and I dont know how they managed a great sound from the onboard speakers on such a small phone but they did. It also had user customizable graphic equalizer for the sound. I loved that phone only thing was that it was missing other things and it only had VGA camera built in and no bluetooth.

I paid 149.00 Eur for my S5230 - a few weeks later now from same place it is now 119.00 euro! thats the way it goes i suppose. Still pleased with it though for the money its a really good phone. A few quirks and bugs but I have yet to come across a mobile phone that ticks all my requirements. I supopose they have to do happy medium to make everyone pleased at the sme time keeping costs down.

Andyr, 04 Jul 2009yep same problem. I mean why put a setting for ascending ra... moreyeah u're rite bro. all those chinese phones have such high volume n thier battery is also superb. all these cheap industries have gr8 quality stuff... oops quantity not quality perhaps...
in kolkata (india), here, the auto rickshaws with local made sound systems have much better sound than sony sound systems. the bass effects simply blows one out of their seats. n with all the traffic commotion, they are a real treat to the ears... though hard on the heart. :-)
n these chinese phones come with 4 or 5 speakers on-board. my god. hehe.

I mean why put a setting for ascending ramped ringing when even though even if you set it to normal ringing it still starts off ringing low! - someone mentioned it is a safety feature by samsung as to not deafen you with loud ringtone if u have phone to your ear when someone calls you! there is another solution apparently if u want to produce ur own mp3 ringtone leave a second silence at beginning.

can anyone out there help with the ringtone problem...phone starts vibrating as soon as a call arrives but the ringtone goes loud only after 2-3 seconds..........
has anybody solved that problem...???

you know when you get a missed call nofication on the screen, how do you stop it from keep popping up again when you have a text message come through or if you restart the phone? - I keep poressing exit on the popup notification window and next time a text comes in there is the popup telling me i have a missed call again. Annoying.
