Hello everybody:
Can any one told me the price for S5230 phone.without any mem. card etc. in chandigarh or at nearby.here at Hot spot it of 9600/-
Is this phone is worth to buy. i m a nokia user.
or should i wait for nokia 5530 express music.
i m a music lover. so how is the sound quality.i like sony eriction`s sound.Is this some thing like that.
Any star user Kindly suggest.

You can get a 3.5 mm headset adapter made by Samsung in the market for approx 300 bucks (I got it at the Mobile showroom in Mariplex, Kalyaninagar Pune). Buy it and connect your existing headphones to S5233! No need to go for a new expensive set of headphones..
The "surround" effect feels AWESOME on my Philips Noise-Cancelling headphones!

yes,if the phone is tilted u will get the qwerty keyboard
but QWERTY keyboard is available in the non 3G model only........
the phone has 2000 contacts capacity....
....i recommend u guys BUY THE STAR non 3G version.....

should i buy the 3G one with flash or this ordinary one. I am confused. Does star 3G have the full keypad?

for your 3rd point:
I guess king has misunderstood you...
I found out that this silent beginning of ringtone even NOT in "increasing ringtone mode" is a safety feature by Samsung. As I read somewhere in www., there shall someone once experienced ear damage because of too loud ringtone, so, to prevent possibly accusation at court, Samsung has chosen this way. No chance to change.
But there's a workaround:
Insert in your ringtone 1-2 seconds of silence in the beginning, so you can avoid this increasing thing and your ringtone starts with a very short delay but with full volume ;-)
For inserting the silence you can use any free sound-editing-Software like Audacity or so.

place ur thumb on the back of da fone beside the cam lens. gently push it down. then pull it. the cover comes off its hinges. simple.

tamanna, 19 Jun 2009I use phone for messaging and talking alot... can anyone te... moretalking a lot: this fone has 13 hours talktime. i'm not aware of any other fone in the market giving so much battery life. yeah... i talked for 4 hous one day and the battery just lost a single mark.
messaging: i too sms a lot. about 90sms per day. yeah its user-friendly. and i use it in the bus, train.
cam: no flash in this set. night mode is gr8 but pic gets grainy wen there's very low lite. other than dat cam's superb. equal to nokia's 5 megapix cam (i also have a nokia 6260 slide 5 megapix)...

here are my replies to such a big list of probz that u've mentioned...
according to ur problem order...
#1.finger on the lock: most unfortunate. bad luck. we don't face the prob. ur hand might be too big for the set. even if it locks or unlocks during a call, wat's the problem??
#2.yup... it takes u to standby screen when u touch on "widgets". dats bcoz there's no "return" touch key to take u back from main menu to standby screen, where u're just a touch away from the widget bar.
#3.u're mistaken again: this fone does have the feature of increasing ring volume. go to profile, then touch the ">>" area beside profile name. the first option there is "CALL ALERT TYPE". touch on it u'll find "RAISING MELODY". select it.
problem solved.
#4.this is not lg viewty. every phone has their different features for the same basic functions. u'll get used to it after a while. there's no problem with scrolling... it absolutely smooth...
#5.wat's the point in locking ur widgets?? u drag them on ur wallpaper to USE them, not show off. so y the hell do u want to lock them up?? silly...
if u have problem in managing widgets, try using all 3 standby screens... u'll find lots of space. anyway y wud any1 want to drag so many widgets to the wallpaper. it will hide ur wallpaper... again strange problems u've got...
icons are icons dear and widgets are widgets. dats y u can't drag icons to widget bar. its like asking for display settings inside ur ringtone settings. either way u're just a click away to the widget bar or main menu. strange problem again...
#6.again... this is not lg viewty. lg viewty costs around rs.19,000 and star costs around rs.9,000. there's a difference of rs.10,000, if u've noticed. dats why u're not getting the same features. hehe. silly problem again...
#7.there are enough settings available for sound. u have to go to PROFILE settings for dat. and about personalising... u can set a separate ringtone and separate sms tone for every conract that u have. wat more personalisation so u want??
and y do u want sound settings when u are in SILENT mode?? do u know the meaning of "SILENT"?? very silly problem again.
#8.the screen display backlighting is enough to light up the 3 tiny buttons.
#9.most of the users don't even know wat's "hot swap"... hehe. anyway... when u really want the phone to switch on and off to listen to start-up and shut-down ringtones, wat's the prob in changing memory card wen the phone is off... hehe.
anyway... y wud any1 wat to change memory cards every other moment...
#10.here u contradict ur own points dear. once u're asking for personalising features. at the next moment u get frustrated with it... y wud anyone want start up tone options for every mp3 that u've stored in ur phone... quite silly. how many times do u switch off and turn on ur phone per day that u want to hear music.
now u're too confused between lg viewty and samsung star. get to use this fone dear. u'll enjoy it!
i know when people switch from nokia to sony... they cry out for the superb features on nokia that they miss in sony... anyway... sony users are also die hard fans of sony... every brand has its own features... there's no common platform.

I use phone for messaging and talking alot... can anyone tel me if it is user friendly for messages? and also the camera, is it clear in dark? does it have a flash?

hey I have had a few days to play around with this phone. I wont list any of the good features of this phone because it has many and other people have commented on them on here.
I am just going to point out a few niggly things I am find and if anyone got solutions please do reply with them:
1.) everytime I am picking up phone I am accidently locking it my hand/fingers seem to be landing in the position of the lock button - any way to disable this lock button once and for all?
2.) when in main menu and touch on widget button on bottom right it dont take me to widget it just takes me to standby screen!
3.) I dont have my ringtones set to increasing ring so why with my own mp3's I am using do they start off with ringing quiet and then go to normal volume?
4.) I cannot get on with this scrolling busines in menus and searching for contacts in my phone book most times when i scroll with my finger I end up selecting the Items rather than scrolling - I know people say you get used to scrolling after a while but I had an LG Viewty before for ages and i done the same thing with that too.
Why when they are designing these touch phones dont they put a blank area at the edge where you can scroll up and down with your finger without selecting something accidently that you dont want to? I know i can use volume switch to scroll up and down also but this is messy too when you are alternating between touch screen operation and using hardware buttons.
5. why havent they got a feature in setup menu of the phone to lock the widgets on the screen when you have placed your selected widgets on the walpaper? - mide keep moving all over the place and look jumbled and messy until I re-organise them again with my finger.
When they was adding this widget feature they should have designed it so that the more widgets you add on your standby screen that the other ones gets smaller to accomodate the new widgets on screen instead they all stay the same large size.
Why when they was designing it didnt they allow you to have to side widget bar stay out constantly if you wanted it to and not to collapse back in after a few seconds.
Why when adding new widgets in the widget setup does it clear all previous widgets yo have already added to the standby wallpaper screen meaning that you have to start all over agian and add them all over again to the wallpaper screen.
And why oh wy wont they allow you to drag anything/feature you want off the menu into the widget area? - why stick with just the widgets they allow you to put into the wiget area?
If you dont like that widget feature why havent they made it so it will let you turn it off on the phone setup menu altogether so the widget box dont slide out when you touch an area of the screen?
Why the background of the widget bar at the left of the phone got a transparent background why cannot have feature of making it solid background same goes for caller ID window why a transparent background so you can see stuff underneath it making it iledgible?
6. Why such poor video recording on phone of this calibre? - 320x240 15fps too low. 640x480 30fps would be great. My LG viewty took 640x480 125fps! - it meant that you didnt have to take out camcorder with you as well as camera because video came out great to view on tv screen.
7. No custom settings available in the sound profile settings of the phone - can adjust/personalize settings in the silent mode either.
8. Do those hardware buttons (on hook, return, END) at the bottom of the phone light up at all? it dont look to me like they do. Whats the idea of that then why dont they light up?
9. Stupid not having the facility of hot swap SD card feature.
10. Why awkwardness of adding mp3 to SMS text tone. They should have it that when you click on mp3 or sound that you can have options 'Set As' and then Ringtone then Alarm tone and Then SMS Tone and Startup & Shutdown tone without having to go all around the houses as you have to to personalize your phone.
Despite all this - this is one of the best phones I have ever owned and i have owned many especiall a lot of Samsung's previous models in the past.

MV619, 17 Jun 2009i got 1gb microSD card........it is not reading....do i hav... more1. you can do it yourself, format the card before u use it. no any special setting is needed for any of memory card.
2. make sure that you insert the memory card in order/properly.
3. just check or bring your phone with your 1GB memory card. ask the store keeper to insert it on your phone.
4. or maybe u can bring your memory card to the mobile store where you bought it.

2.Pictures not looking gr... morethe photos I havent found to be too bad actually with no graininess and good colours and in focus although I have only taking daytime ones at the moment they seem to be fantastic, equal to or better than my other phone which had 5mpixels.
i got the Data cable in the box but no stylus pen. I know you can use finger on this fone pretty well but I still then there are times whyere u need to use a stylus. Its a shame there isnt compartment on this fone to hod a stylus and you would have to have one dangling from the phone.
