Please share th... moreHi voice clarity is superb - but isnt that also detremental to your providers quality? - I must say have owned lots of mobile phones in the past all makes nokia, motorola,samsung, LG and others and i have alway found the audio clarity clear when taking to others on the phone.
As for battery power I have only just got phone - I hope the battery is a lot better at lasting in standby than my current LG Viewy because I was forever chaging up that battery and the quirk was (which I hear a lot of other people had the same with their viewty) is that the battery bars indicator were not accurate - one minut you had a few bars next minute phone shut down and was out of battery power and needed charging!

i think u should get ur basics cleared first, ... moreplease tell me why increasing the video to 640x480 30fps would have increased price? - in fact it can only do extremely good in marketing/selling terms.
You could argue that the Ku990 Viewty was dearer because it had 5mpixel camera DIVX, 120fps recording, flash for camera and 3g. But hey you can still have a budget phone that takes 640x480 video nothing stopping that. You would still have a budget phone (ie no 3g, not 5mp camera, no flash) but all it would have meant is that this Tocco lite would have been more attractive to budget users who want a better resolution for video filming with their phones.
You are getting increasingly these days consumers (and me included) wanting not to take out with them an mp3 player, a camera, and a recorder when they go out - a lot of people these days want everything all built into one device (ie mobile phone) so they only have one thing to carry around, but on the other hand dont want to pay top dollars to have these feature.
Shame because at the moment this Samsung Tocco lite/star fulfills me not taking out a camera for snapshots (the 3mp is good enough for me), it fulfills me not having to take out my Mp3 player, however with the 320x240 15fps video it takes if I do see something I want to film its going to look very pixallised when played back on tv (after conversion) because TV needs at least 640x480 video at 30fps to look smooth and not pixallized.

Just one thing I need to know guys. In the UK with about 30 mins of calls, 50 texts and 30 mins web-browsing each day will the battery really last 3-4 days in between charging? And is the battery the sort that you can charge anytime or is it just when run down? Thanks.

the small diff in price of LG viwty and star is bcoz viewty released 2yrs back.... and mobile phns prices keep falling every two months...
compare the price of star when it is released and to that of viewty when that was released..... it's a huge difference....
2nd thing.....
u must know, software/hardware would've definately allowed 640*480 30fps recording in star, but that would've increased it's price. (and this is a budget phone wherease viewty was NOT a budget phone when it's released, now its price might've fallen)

Hi,
For those who have doubts about battery, speeker and camera.
1. Battery is quite good. No simlear feature phone i think have same battery backup. Its don't have key pad, 3g, flash and auto lock is quick so all results in power saving. From battery side good phone. Difference in battery backup if charge from USB or power. Power charging result in good backup time.
2. Speaker. Other user provide very good comments result on use of external devices. But i think its quite good as such too. Audio quality is quite good. You can try with any customer care auto machine communaction to hear and compare properly.
3. Camera is also working good in day light. No point to cleck image in dark. as in dark even digital camera fail to get proper image. One good feature i did not seen in till now used phones is its unique penorma shot. By this you can take continues shots and it will auto create single image. After first shot control is at phone end now it will auto adjust for other shots in such a manner there is no gap between two shots. It result in long snamps without break. Try this. Its quite good.

#1 there is no real problem of accidently locking the phone its just a pain of pressing in the button a few seconds every time to unlock it and the writing gesture thing i find a bit hit and miss. Would have been nice if in the menu you had an option to turn off the lock alltogether.
#2 Why call it widget button then why not 'return' or 'back' ?
#3 I didnt want raising melody/increasing ring I wanted it to start ringing immediately at full volume. But you didnt get what I were saying.
#5 I have a habit of putting my most used widgets on a standby screen/wallpaper - some people like to have clean wallpaper image some like shortcuts - whats sill about that!
#6 not much difference in price in my country of the Samsung Tocco Lite (S5230) and LG Viewty. Aw come on you telling me that in with the software/firmware they could not have possibly made this phone record in 640x480 30fps? - thats rubbish course the technology would have allowed it. And hey arent LG phones and Samsung phones manufactured in the same country Korea? - well thats what i heard anyways.
#9 one of the huge complaints people had about the LG viewty was that you could not change the mini sd card without switching off the phone first - so it is such a big deal with consumers not to have hot swap memory cards in their mobiles.

My Vodafone GPRS does not work after I updated the firmware with the new S5230XEIE5. The Java installs fine now, and everythings alright except for the GPRS. Even the manual vodafone settings dont work....

Hi,
Is others are also facing same small small bugs in software
1. Information screen after call empty most of the time.
2. On that information screen only end key works. No Back touch option and no back key work on that.
3. On alarm ringing screen any key press will stop the audio but display is still same.
4. Might be i don't know to use but i am facing problem there is no way to delete one selected entry from the favriote list of phone numbers.
5. In delhi india gate area. I have tried to airtel to airtel call. Call done by S5233. Signals are some time week somtime strong there. During call i am able to hear very neat and clear the voice from Nokia, but voice is not going to other side. Try it 2 times same result. At same time i use airtel E71 Nokia and call on same airtel nokia (previousely tested). This time communication is properly. I can not say but it might or might not phone problem with week signal.

is it loud and clear while talking, is it clear on both ends?
Also share the battery backup of this phone when using to talk, bcoz i used to talk alot.(4-5 hrs/day).
I need both Battery back up and voice clarity (my first choice for buying a phone) for buying this.

Strange they bothered to put options of increasing ring and normal ring in the menu if all they are giving you is increasing ring all the time.

I m planning to buy this, so plz check and give feedback of voice clarity and quality of this phone. Also share the battery backup of this phone when using to talk, bcoz i used to talk alot.(4-5 hrs/day)
I like all the other features, but only doubt is call related feature.
is it clear while talking, is it clear on both ends?
If so, then i m going for this.

just compare the home screens of star and Nokia5233,
nokia is nowhere comparable to home screen, touch flow, acclerometer based features of samsung.
(3D Gallery, Photo contact, gesture ctrl),
plus symbian OS tends to get slow as we load the phone..
anyways, for 5233, u've wait for atleast 2 months......
so if u r die hard of nokia u've to wait,
else, go for star....
