I finally found out how to solve the wifi connection problem yesterday and I just wanted to share with anyone who has the same problem as me.
My problem was when we try to connect to wifi it shows "Connecting" then become "Disconnected" and I can't connect to the wifi.
Anyone facing this problem ? Well, here's how i solved it* (*I may not sure it will work on u but it works for me)
1st step : Start switching on your phone's wifi and search for the wifi connection u desired to connect to.
2nd step : Add the wifi setting as below : All the other settting is automatically filled for you except this*
* this is the solution to your problem.
SET Name : "wifi connection name" (automatic filled)
Bearer type : Wi-Fi (automatic filled)
SSID : "wifi connection name" (automatic filled)
Auth Type : Open
Encryption Type : WEP
Key Length : 64 bits or 128 bits**
Index ID : 1
Network Key : **
Protocol : HTTP
Home URL : http://
Proxy address : "leave blank"
Linger Time (sec) : 300
Adhoc : off
advance setting
If u noticed the * above.
Notice the Key Length :
64 bits = 10 characters password.
128 bits : 64 characters password.
Select 128 bits if your WEP password exceed 10 characters. (mine was 13 characters)
Remember to fill in the "Network Key"
Network key = WEP password = your wifi router password.
the difference between S5233W than other phone is that we need to key in the WEP 1st before we can connect.
where else other brands will prompt us to key in the WEP when we wanted to connect.
After setting everything... save it and try to connect again.
You should able to connect, if not, restart your handset. (mine requires me to restart)
Please test this and let me know if it works. As it works for me.

my brother just bought this phone yesterday and its a really nice phone. the features are even better than iphone. fluid touchscreen , awesome interface, nice sound for 11k php. not bad at all. i was planning to buy a sony ericsson aino, now i'm having second thoughts because of this phone.

Yes, this comes with a Stylus. Required for hand-writing recognition also.

anyone knows the latest price of this phone in india?as of now this is better than the nokia 5530 'cause 5530 has o lot of software problems.but firmware updates should resolve most of these.but personally i prefer this phone for its interface,usability,call clarity,better touch responsiveness,accelorometer.it has almost the same specs as 5530.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I just got this Star WiFi yesterday and it's worth its value. Samsung Philippines is having a promo of this unit until Nov.30 for PHP11,000 at any major cellphone retail shop. You may pay in cold cash or pay 6 months at 0% interest using any major credit card. It's best that you buy from a Samsung store as most dealers don't have enough stocks.

im having a hard time connecting to wifi, dont know why... even in non secure wifi connections,... please help me guys, do i need to configure my wifi connection? I think nokia wifi phones is more user friendly.

Hello, I'm planning to buy a new phone next month. I'm torn between the S5230 Star and the S5600 Preston.
Which do you think is better in terms of:
a) group SMS sending:
i. what is the maximum number of recipients per group SMS?
b) speaker sound quality
i. is the audio clear and comparable to Sony Ericsson phone speakers?
c) memory
i. what is the maximum number of messages that can be stored in the inbox?
ii. can you store messages in the memory card?
d) media files supported
i. can it play mp3, mp4, mpga, wmv, wav, flv, avi files?
e) ringtones
ii. can you use media files (e.g. mp3 files) as ringtones?
f) touch screen functions
i. does it have handwriting recognition for texting?
g) camera
i. based on the corresponding megapixels, are the pictures clear/vivid enough?
ii. does it have flash?
iii. does it have video light?
h) internet connectivity
i. for the Star only:
is it easy to connect thru wifi given that you are stationary and there is a strong signal within the area?
