Hi!!!!
To my dear brothers and sisters out there, I am back once again to give you the best suitable video format for this phone. Now let me tell you one thing before I proceed with the settings of the videos. You will get the most optimum clarity and video experience only if the original video file that you have is absolutely perfect. Please keep this in mind always. I found this after doing hell lot of research on my brothers handset the samsung star. Please copy and paste the steps mentioned below or if you can remember it well and fine:-
1]. Install "SUPER VIDEO CONVERTER" by eRightsoft or "FREE VIDEO CONVERTER" by Koyotesoft in your system. Now the reason I am telling you to download and install this application is because it is totally free and you can use it forever without worrying about registration.
2]. This phone has 5 megapixel camera and has the capability to record videos in QVGA format and is capable of playing it. But luckily it supports the playback of WQVGA format as well. OK! I think I confused you a lot. So In simple words I mean to say that it is capable of playing 16:9 resolution video as well but only within the range of QVGA resolution.
3]. Once you install any of these video converter in your system please do the following settings before converting the video file:
SUPER VIDEO CONVERTER
---------------------
Add the multimedia file in the list then,
Output File Format: "MP4"
Output Video Codec: "MPEG-4"
Output Audio Codec: "AAC-LC"
Video Scale Size: "320 x 176"
Aspect: "16:9"
Frame / Sec: "25"
Bit-rate: "768 kbps" or "816 kbps" {for video}
Sampling Frequency: "44100" or "48000"
Channels: "2"
Bit-rate: "160 kbps" {for audio}
Finally, Click on the "Encode" Button
Don't do any thing extra other than the above mentioned settings rest of the necessary things are selected by default.
FREE VIDEO CONVERTER
---------------------
Add the multimedia file in the list then,
Output Format: "MP4"
Video Codec: "MPEG-4"
Size: "320 x 176"
Aspect: "16:9"
Fps: "25"
Bitrate: "768 kbps" or "816 kbps" {for video}
Audio Codec: "AAC"
Frequency: "44100" or "48000"
Channels: "Stereo"
Bitrate: "160 kbps" {for audio}
Finally, Click on the "Convert Video" Button
Don't do any thing extra other than the above mentioned settings rest of the necessary things are selected by default.
ENJOY!!!!! Your Videos.
BYE!!!!!

Its no smartphone..samsung keeps on rolling out the same cartoon like touch wiz UI in their touchscreen brigade.Agred features are all good and best in its category,but it still lacks a feel..the feel of a mature and capable UI.Nokia 5233/5800 are miles ahead..

Samsung NEVER gives software upgrade. They want you to buy a new phone, that is why they make so many unperfect phones.
Still, Samsung have made huge progress in a short time.

This is a cool looking phone with excellent hardware capabilities that could have made it a better phone than Nokia 5800 at significantly better price poitns but are wasted a bit by poor product management (read feature selection)/software.
First the positives:
+ good looking phone that is sleek, thin and responsive
+ Cost effective for the features it offers
* excellent voice quality, signal reception
* precise response to touch
* functional 3.2 MP camera
* wi-fi, GPS, 3G - 3.6 Mbps, secondary camera etc etc - doesn't miss a feature compared to other competitive phones in this price range
+ excellent battery life
+ Google maps look very good
The negatives:
- Accelerometer sensor seems to be used only by the camera, browser & 'turn to mute' and not with any other screen (I have not tried games)
- lack of qwerty keyboard is already pointed out. I hope they come up with a software upgrade to rectify this quickly
- 'turn to mute' seems to work only if the phone is rotated very quickly; they could have given a 'mute' icon on the screen when a call comes so this could be activated with a quick touch; instead the whole screen is taken up just to show the caller id
- during call, we are supposed 'press and hold lock key' to enable in-call functions: this is really brainless and does not make any sense; they could have used the same screen space to show these icons
* to enable speakerphone during a call, we need to press and hold to get a menu which shows the speakerphone icon and then press it
- browser is very rudimentary compared to Opera. I installed the latter but haven't figured out where the icon is available for launching this. Also, is there a way to make Opera the default browser? More over I am not able to turn to landscape mode by rotating the phone (I had to select this mode through options)
* any help from guys who installed Opera Mini 5 would be greatly appreciated
- Keyboard options are not as intelligently designed as in my very old Nokia phone with regular keypad (e.g. try typing a WiFi encryption key like A1B12C1D389.... it takes a huge number of key strokes)
- inadequate documentation that does not even mention features like 'flip to mute', 'widgets' etc
- this basically feels like a proto or premature release made without completing the targeted feature development
My overall recommendation is quite positive, although I think Samsung guys missed a trick to make this the best phone in this segment, which the hardware definitely is capable of.
