this could be a very good phone by the hardware, but the android OS makes it pretty much un-usable. the OS is so full of bugs and errors that it is difficult to fathom, the experience of using this OS is so painful that it is really miraculous that it still keeps selling.
tl;dr: good hardware, bad software, would not recommend this phone to anyone

Just broke it! Almost. Last week I threw it against a pasteboard wall - it dug a hole that big and still worked, today it wasn't that lucky and the screen went- but guess what - it still works even with cracked screen!

Anonymous, 23 Jul 2014Takes a beating, but has little memory.
The lack of memo... moreFollow the advice earlier on in the posts and root. There's a downloadable app pacifically for the phone from what appears to be an honest website, then partition the SD card using "minitool"; also free to download (the second partition needs to be set as ext2), then install link2sd app and it will then install to an SD card and pre-installed apps can be linked.
Still a little worried about the space though as its going down over time on the internal memory. Only 290mbs left!

Takes a beating, but has little memory.
The lack of memory and the fact that you can't use external storage for storing apps drives me absolutely crazy. Every day error messages about to little storage.
But yeah, takes a beating.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2014how do u make stop to eat your airtime when you are not using it?You can't it would seem. Disable mobile data and use wifi for downloading, keep it on when your at home and most things will be done then; and use mobile data only when you need it. There in the drop down menu at the top of the home page!

So you can only store apps on the internal memory?! ...I'm concerned if it does work that way then that's the same as my old GT B2710 waterproof feature phone and its certainly all going to be used soon, as there's only 1gb available on purchase!!
Bad points:
The backs flimsy not rugged or robust, and I've seen it on other Samsungs, it literally snaps on and off! The fancy looking stainless steel lock is almost completely a façade!!
Good points:
But it is waterproof and looks good in red and black and everything runs very nicely on it so far!

Samsung says this is a craftsman's phone and doesn't need memory, which is just a poor excuse. They could allow partial storage of apps on microSD, other phones do.
I use Clean Master and have OK memory usage even with quite a few apps, but keep running out anyway. Being water resistant makes the Xcover2 good for biking with e.g. ViewRanger, which uses practically no memory dormant and 28MB running, but then after Facebook and its Messenger have nabbed 55+24 there's not much left for CameraPRO, and then you can't see the pictures you've taken.
It was on the Kit-Kat list, which was supposed make better use of the space, but that hasn't materialised. New phone after just 15 months isn't on the cards. Why don't they fix it? A similarly specced Symbian Belle Nokia could blow this out of the sky, if it had a better browser... 4GB internal memory should have been a thing of the past in the Android world years ago!!

I too had problems with memory, uninstalled everything and still couldn't update Chrome any more.
Lost my patience and solved the problem by rooting and installing RootAppDelete and Link2SD apps (WARNING - AT YOUR OWN RISK - THIS VOIDS WARRANTY AND MAY BRICK THE PHONE - DON'T BLAME ME IF IT HAPPENS!)
RootAppDelete lets you delete the apps that come with the phone - e.g. Flipboard and such (careful not to delete anything tightly integrated with the operating system).
Link2SD moves most your apps to the SD card, freeing space for updates/new ones.
You need to have some computer skills and access to a PC, as it involves formatting your SD card 1/2 FAT32 and 1/2 Ext2 in order for Link2SD to work. You can achieve this with Minitool or Paragon partition software.

I have an issue, when i receive a text from a person, I open the text, underneath their name the number that is shown suddenly has a letter in front of the number. For example N+44**********, so when I try to send my reply to the message it says number invalid obviously. This only happens to the same contact.
I have checked the contact in my contact list, and no letter is there. It has become annoying having to go back and compose a new message every time. Has anyone heard of this problem? Or have a solution?

this phone is crap, i bought it last week and it keeps on losing track of my sim card, : "please insert simcard blablabla..." while the sim card is still in it, in a perfect shape...
other problem, the touch screen is crap, maybe because its thicker than other models, anyway it doesnt detect my fingers or whatever a tried to use to make it react so i've got to turn it off and back on everytime to fix the problems.
also the stupid fact that u cannot delete the ton a useless apps stored on it is the cherry on the cake. this phone is shit, i'm sending it right back to the seller... samsung is a deception, again.

Really good phone. Super fast and hard as a rock!
To be fully satisfied you should root it, install a custom rom and use external SD card (as the most phones/tablets out there).
The I/O performance is amazing! Using link2sd it links all installed applications for a second or less (using class4 sd card)
