piyush, 29 Jul 2009hey friends there are 2 models s8000 and s8003 but the phon... moreI'm not 100% sure but I think it depends where you are, the UK has the s8000 and asia has 8003. Don't think both are available in the same country. Not entirely sure what the difference is.
I stand to be corrected on this though

hey people im planing to buy jet in the coming week..but im still not sure if its a good phone or not.. is this phone good or should i go for an iphone.. plz guide..
and where can i find s8000 jet themes..

Great phone ..almost.
Has a lot of bugs and shotcomings, no copy/paste, poor call audio, no text select, problems with settings not being remembered in some apps such as alarms, not great battery life, no auto update of DST with the built in apps, mono speaker which gets covered easily. The firmware is very difficult to update as the software NPS does not work properly and gives you error messages while trying to update.
On the plus side, it is a joy to use, the screen is gorgeous and very responsive, scratch resistant i think but then i added a green onions universal glossy screen protector which works well. Scrolling is excellent, the phonebook/calendar are good, although a bit limited. Many new java apps work well. I wish the fonts were a little smaller so you could fit more on the screen ...i don't understand why they do not take advanytage of the high resolution but insist on making the fonts huge.
Summary ...it's a good phone at the price, but could have been much better. If you want a more functional phone then you would be better off with a symbian phone (or android when there are more apps).

Anonymous, 29 Jul 2009pls!! can anyone tell me how to differentiate betwenn s8000... moreU can differentiate them by the name on the box or by checking the firmware on the phone thats it... there is no diff physically, only u know if u got a 8000 or 8003 in ur hands.. or if ur using the nav on 8000 :P

I dl'ed the latest NPS.. sorry dun rem the ver, it recognizes 8003 fine nuff.. haven't tried updatin it though, i'll wait till some decent updates are available cuz right now it works fine for what i use it for

Go to Samsung Glorietta,I bought mine 2 weeks ago,its faster and more responsive compared to S8300.The picture and specially the video quality of S8300 is still the best so far among the handsets available today.D1 videos taken at night is awesome.

this is to warn those who are attempting to flash your samsung s8003 to samsung s8000 tutorials and firmware downloaded at darkforest group i have tried mine just now and my fone is dead!!!pls be satisfied with what you have now or you might regret like i am right now.i dont know what to do coz i bought mine just last week.if someone out there reads this and who can extend a helping hand pls email me at ghabee68@yahoo.com.ph any help or suggestions from anyone is highly appreciated.thank you!

Still the 1.2.0 IG2 NPS doesn't recognise the S8000!! It's really annoying because I'd like to back up my phone before I Flash it to get rid of all the network branding on it!

Samsung has a short term strategy to sell as many phones as possible by selling variants of the same thing at different price points. Lets see if they can sustain this throughout next year when the competition really heats up as the other phone companies have better after sales support and loyal customers.
