Bada 1.02 firmware upgrade was finally released in India, but after almost 6 complete binary downloads and install attempts thereafter, the installation failed. KIES prompted a recovery, but my phone refused to startup in recovery mode.
1) Could anyone tell my why a phone does not start in recovery mode despite following the instructions, remove cable, take out battery, reinstall battery, press Vol -, Camera buttons while pressing Call end/power button.
2) Further, I'm running KIES on a Windows XP Virtual Machine using Parallels 5 on Mac OS X 10.6 on a Macbook Pro. Could this be a reason why the upgrade failed? I don't have a Samsung service centre nearby, so, I thought I'd seek help here.
Thankfully, my phone has not been bricked...

just using this great fon for the past 2 months. i have no problem this fon, touch responsive is so super fast. 5mp camera is also fantastic its way better than n8. im waiting for the update. bada 1.2 ... i think it will be awesome !!

Anonymous, 02 Dec 2010Just shut up idoit,have u ever use sam wave.dont say anythi... morehey..you're right...this is a high end phone..as in high end failure phone.. i bought this 4 months ago..after 3 days I gave it to my sis..I wasn't satisfied with battery performance, I need to charge it everyday..She gave it back couple of days ago.. the camera shutter failed two months after the purchase.. warranty service is a failure to..stupid samsung phone.

The problem with Wave is that it doesn't support b-frames in movies so mkvs, xvids... are affected...
Unfortunately lots of encodes are like that, so the best thing is to encode movies by yourself whether they are xvids or mkvs (including 720p)

I have kies version 1.5.3.10103_102 on my comp. When i use the apps tab on the software while connected to internet, the apps tab opens just fine. But when net isn't connected and i just wanna install the downloaded apps using kies onto the phone, it doesn't open. Instead there's a box which says: 'The remote name could not be resolved: "img.samsungapps.com"'
Can anyone please help me regarding what this issue is and how to go about resolving it. I have told by the samsung service centre guys not to connect phone to comp to directly download apps from net since any fluctuation in the net connection could result in software issues. So once i download the apps from the site, how do i install it onto phone using kies when the above error message is shown constantly??? please help.
