i own a SE phone and when i want to enter the phone book i just push down on my dpad and it brings the whole phone book list up and i just scroll to the name i want to dial instead of entering the name does the samsung u600 have this option to
A/
First
The right menu key goes direct to the phone book. Once there you can quick find by entering the first letter of the name you want.
Secondly
in idle mode if you enter the first numbers of the contact you want a box of search result pops up at the bottom of the screen with numbers that mach the numbers you entered.
I find this utility most usful

Hi Save ferris
With Caller Id I've noticed you can only have Video in Lower resolution,
Stupid I Know.
So if you lower your Video Resolution then you can set them to caller id.
Just click on the vid and set as...
Hope this helps :)

Hi Warrior again :)
Q/
Idle mode, do you mean that when the phone is in its closed position and locked, you can press and hold the right arrow key for about a second, and then the track will change? OR, do you have to unlock the keypad first?
A/
Sorry for the confusion. When I Said Idle I meant when your on the main screen (No Menus) and Unlocked.
If the key pad is locked you have to press [Power] then press and hold the right arrow key.
Holding the Left on the Arrow key takes you to the previous track. And Holding Down is Stop.

I've noticed if Videos are on higher Resolution then you cant have them as Screen-savers. But if you have Video on a lower resolution then you can use them
Seems a little odd to me but that's the only way you can have videos ad wallpaper...

Hi Becky
Q/
Hello, I've the U600 and can't seem to actually use it. Basically it won't unlock. The way i try to unlock the phone is by pressing either volume button then pressing the on/off button on top of phone as instructed and then slide it open. However, whether I slide it or not, it simply won't let me use the sensor buttons and it's really annoying as I've messages I can't read. Could it be I've a faulty handset or am I not unlocking it right?
A?
To unlock the phone in the Closed position all you have to do is Press The Power Button once.( You don't need to press the volume buttons at all)
Sliding it open should auto unlock the phone..
You can tell when it's unlocked because the two soft key buttons light up And menu & Contacts display in the bottom of the screen.
If you still cant use the buttons after you unlock it then Id take it back to where you bought it from As it cold quite well be faulty
:)

Hi david_coleman
Q/
does anyone know how to change the clock format to digital as this is really frustrating me???
thanks dave
A/
If you have you phones wallpaper set to Theme then you cant change the Clock.
In order to use one of the other clocks then you need to change your wallpaper settings
To do this press Menu Go into Settings (Bottom Right Corner) Go into Display Settings.
Then into Wallpaper settings. If the Display says THEME Scroll it sideways until it says NORMAL. Now scroll down to Main Display and press [i] there go get a list of locations for wallpaper. Once you've chosen go back to Display Settings scroll down to [6] Clock Display, In there you get a choice of three different Clocks..
Hope this helps

Hi sev
You Said/
got the phone yesterday - only one disappointment. video quality awful for the standard of the phone - very like older samsung phones, pixelly and poor quality
anyone else who has the phone - can u tell me somethin? wen i use the camera vertically it saves the picture sideways which is unbelievably annoying. can i change this?
A/
You need to change your settings. As the phone is preset to Restricted for MMS. Go into Video camera settings (The Left Menu Key/ or the bottom one if you have the phone on its side for video camera mode) and change from [For Multimedia Message] To [For Full Memory]
Then
Scroll along to resolution and Chang it to 352 x 288
This will make the Videos much better.
Hope this Helps

Hi Warrior
Question 1:
On Sony Ericsson mobile phones (k750i) you can listen to music and change the track using the up and down volume keys. Is this possible on the U600?
No. To skip tracks when in idle mode. You press and hold the right arrow key for about a second
Question 2:
If you have used the Sony Ericsson music player on the k750i, how do you compare the sound quality using the default headphones/handsfree which are supplied with the phone?
The SE's do sound excellent. I would say it's a close one but the SE's probably win. But by much not so much as to make me choose the SE over the samsung.
Question 3:
As the U600 has an inbuilt music player, does your battery drain very quickly if you use the music function? If i used it for 2 hours a day, excluding making/receiving calls, do you think that the battery will be above lets say 50%?
I haven't used the MP3 sufficient yet to judge. Sorry
Question 4:
In reality, how long does 'your' battery last? On the specifications/reviews i have been reading about the phone, many have said that talktime is around 3 hours. Is this a true reflection?
I would say I am an average user about 25 min of call and about 60 to 100 texts a day. And I have to charge every 2 To 3 Days
Can I also add the phone feels very elegant in the hand very light and thin. Feel so smooth. Cant put the blooming thin down. A1 for design
This alone justifies the Bat life, Once you see one in the flesh I'm sure you would agree.
The U600 is probably the best Samsung to date.
Hope this helps
