considering the purchase of U600. As voice recording is a decisive factor can anyone tell me if the is a maximum length per recording except from memory limitations? I would like to record meetings of about 3 hours duration. Thanks

I think answering machine is a service your mobile provider has to support and doesn't have much to do with the phone itself. Anyway, if that is the case than the phone supports it, there are no doubts about that.
While for problem with SMSes and names not appearing - the only problem (and solution of course) i can think of is to copy all your contacts from the SIM card into the phone. That's the way I did it and I have no problems with names displaying with my incoming SMSes.

Of course the phone breaks if it falls down! Do you think Nokia N95 (for example) or SE W850 are invincible? lol... U600 wasn't created for falling down but for shoving off. Just like N95 and W850! If you need a durable phone i suggest you buy Nokia 3510i - I had it 6 years ago or so, and it still works.

Is there a way to show your contacts names when you recieve messages. At the moment on my phone instead of the name it shows the phone no.
Is there a way to fix this?

There are no problems with phone usage during charging, you can receive calls with no problems - also you can call and basically do anything you want. On top of that, battery is way better than in older models (IMHO), it lasts for 3 days with me and I use it a lot. Beside, charging is fast so you can plug your phone in the charger for 15 minutes and than use it till the end of the day. Positively surprised by Samsung :)

here's my little review of samsung u600. i will try to resolve the issues frequently talked about in this forum.
DESIGN-there's no doubt about it, this is one of the, if not the best looking phone. At 10.9 mm, it is incredibly thin. It is so thin that i have nearly dropped the phone couple of times because it just slipped out of my hand (no joke) However, i bought a plastic protective case so it now feels better in my hand.
SOFTKEYS-some people seem to have serious problems with the four touchscreen keys. i, for one, do not. They are not overly sensitive as is the case in LG chocolate phones. You still have to press the buttons slightly to activate the softkeys. That means sliding your finger across the touchscreen keys are not gonna do anything and i love the touchscreen keys for it.
CAMERA-it is true that camera takes about 3-4 seconds to take a pic. Moreover, i had some instances where the camera would freeze during taking a picture and the picture would come out half and half. It is really annoying, might get it changed if it really becomes a issue. Otherwise, the picture quality is superb.
KEYPAD-i just love how the number keys in this phone. they are flat, like RAZR, and they are really responsive. HOWEVER, if you have huge fingers, you may have some trouble pressing the right keys, as they are relatively small. In most cases, however, this will not be a problem.
SCREEN-the screen is beautiful, and colourful. To protect ur screen, keep the cover that the phone comes with as long as possible. As i mentioned earlier, i bought a protective screen case so my screen is safe. I have heard some cases where the screen got a scratch just from putting it in a pocket. better not to take chances with such a beautiful screen.
MP3-songs sound really good, but that does not mean they are loud. I noticed that the volume of songs are not as loud as they could be, but it is manageable. however, the sound quality is great and the FM radio works great too.
BATTERY-i m not a heavy phone user. however, i still talk, text, listen, and play games on my phone. so far, the batter is impressive. i turn my phone off at night and it lasts about 4-5 days on one charge.
CONCLUSION-this is a great phone with people dying to impress. and having the world's slimmiest phone is certainly something to brag about. however, the slim feature of the phone also poses certain dangers as well. the phone is flimsy and because it is built with plastic, they may bend a little. however, i have had no problem so far. if you can manage to take good care of it, i see no reason not to buy this phone, unless you are one of those type that need a good camera because you dont have a digital camera. overall, excellent design, superb keyboard, very good mp3 and mediocre camera (just because of the time it takes to take a picture). Anyways, i hope this 'review' has helped people when they are considering this phone. I certainly recommend it.

yeh u can. u need to go to input method the symbols. then it gives u an option to set different symbols as numbers

Just got this phone today - only gripe is when you're texting, you have to go into a seperate menu to add an apostrophe (for example, when typing "I'm" instead of I am)
Does anyone know if you can change it so this is on one of the number keys? Don't think I'll keep the phone otherwise.

it is nearly perfect.
except the reception is not up to standard.Somtimes it do have echo,or background noise (static noice) . And it drop off during connection.
I don't know is carrier problem or common problem.
My friend do have the same problem with this model.
Is anybody experience this?
Any upgrade on the software.

hi, like to confirm 1 thing about this phone..
i heard that samsung ultra II and above, all sms tone allow the use of MP3.. is it true? can this phone sms tone in mp3??
And is the ringing tone loud enough?
