Samsung U700 Caller ID and Software problem?
Guys,
I have just purchased the U700. Love the phone, although I am facing 2 fundemental issues with it:
1) All the numbers in my phonebook are in international format, meaning they have the relevant country and area codes. My problem is when I am in one country, the name of the caller will not show up. Instead the phone will just show their number in local form, instead of the name. Eventhough, the number is in my phonebook!
2) I tried using Samsung PC Studio 3 with the most recent update and on both Vista and XP, but for some reason the system doesnt recognise the USB driver on the U700. It does however recognises my old X820 and works perfectly well.
PLEASE HELP, as I am in dire need of your assistance!
Thanks

Hi!
Is it possible to change the 'erase-settings' when typing a SMS? Because when you write a SMS and you hold the erase button, the whole text is erased. But I prefer to erase by word when you hold that button.
Can it be changed?
Greets!

the big problem of U700 which bugging me is the sensitive key is really too sensitive ^^!!
the ringing tone sound quality is not up to standard, but with earset the mp3 sound quality is considered good enough.
The outlook of the phone is second to none, at least in my own opinion.
Function wise, i'm bit upset with its absence of radio function.
I'd would rate 7/10 to this Samsung U700.

I also forgot to add that the camera is great! But then again this is my first phone with a great camera.
However, Samsung camera phones have always been known for taking great pictures over here. On poor lighting conditions it takes a decent picture as opposed to my Sony Ericsson 2mp phone that shows up grainy on poor light.
Best value for the money for its class.

@john,
The phone is already sold in the Philippines AFAIK. I own one and I live down south. Bought it at 12 months 0%. Don't be surprised Euro, folks. We don't earn as much as you guys do. :(
I've only owned it for a week and I admit, by my personal needs, the phone has exceeded my expectations.
It can read MSWord documents and PDFs. So I have no problems with just scanning some documents away from my PC.
It can sync to outlook. I have an adaptor for our lotus notes so every schedule that's in there my phone has it. I would never be late for another meeting again.
The screen is bright and has a very soothing to the eyes. On idle mode the screen turns into a magic mirror (similar to one of their earlier phone). Not used to the touch sensitive keys yet though.
Initiallly I hade my hesitations about the size since I don't buy phones that don't fit in my pocket. I measured it with my brother's K660 and it was indeed smaller by height and by thickness. The width of course is a little much but that's the price of having a larger screen.
Bluetooth, of course, gives me wireless exchange of data with my printer and PC.
Another one of my hesitation was the usability. I used to own an E600 earlier but my problems with the SMS composition was very disappointing.
Sound is good. I don't know why most of you guys complain of its small volume. Somone called me on the phone once and the default value was on high. I was shocked at the high volume of the phone that I had to lower it to around half.
Accessibility, however, leaves something to be desired. Some items require a lot of keystrokes before getting to it (profile settings, bluetooth) and I guess that's why some of the questions of the users here are more related to something they can't find on the phone (changing message tones) but it's actually there.

brad: the U700 is better than the U600, in a way it's an upgraded version of the U600. The main difference is in the support of internet-related features such as browsing, email, etc; it supports HSDPA (the U600 doesn't), EDGE is class 11 (U600 is class 10). Also the battery life of the U700 is a bit better (Standby 270h for the U700 vs 250h for the U600, talk time 5h for the U700, 3,5h for the U600). And ofcourse there are the (minor) physical differences, personally i i think the U700 looks a lot better than the U600, but that's ofcourse a matter of opinion. There are a couple more minor differences but i think these are the most important.

Good am,
How is the camera of this phone? By far the best 3.2 MP camera Ive seen is that of k800i's. Im planning to buy a u700 with its nice features and elegance but first ive to make sure the camera is really as clear as a 3.2 MP camera fone should be.
