Thanks Chloe... 4 making apostrophes existent now!! =)
to change sms ringtone u go to a particular profile and "edit" then press the "right" button to alter message settings.
to type special characters in an sms, u keep pressing that particular key in alphabet setting and the last few characters are the "special ones"... like Ü by pressing the "tuv/8" button 4 times etc.

I've had this phone for 3 months and really wish I had returned it within the first 2 weeks.
It looks great and has all the features I wanted but...
The silver chrome effect started pealing off after a month.
The touch sensitive buttons are too sensitive, if I'm scrolling left through a text it regularly starts deleting text as my thumb hovers over the clear button. It also regularly backs out of the message so I loose the whole thing. Numerous times I've been talking to someone and it's gone onto to loud speaker because it’s too close to my face.
To unlock lock the phone you only need to press the centre button twice so it frequently unlocks it self in my pocket and bag and has been known to take a blank picture and send it 9 times, call people and dial up vodafone live with out my knowledge.
I could go on, but it's too depressing. And worse because it’s a contract phone I won't be able to upgrade for another 15 months.
Oh and I can hardly hear people, even with the volume maxed out.
This phone looks great while sat on my desk but is the most infuriating phone I've ever owned.

I am dissappointed. the phone are too sensitive, I cant set my music as ringtone. My incoming calls and sms are currently on vibrate and I cant get the setting to change it. When Im on the internet I cant get what Im looking for. Ive wasted R3845 and should have sticked with my samsung E370. I miss my old phone and cant get someone to buy the U700 for even R3000. What a waste of money!!!!!

Chloe - hehe sorry about that. yea i saw samsung's exhibit in Festival Mall less than a month ago. at that time they still didn't have u700. i talked to one of the salesladies there, and she said u700 was coming in the next weeks (maybe that was the time you saw the exhibit haha!). P19k, 0% interest - not bad. can I pay there using my credit card? also, do you have any idea if this phone is already available in Alabang Town Center or Greenhills? I don't just want to buy a new phone. I wanna trade my old phone away. Thanks!

The touchkeys are too sensitive and I can barely hear it when someone's calling ...
Apart from that, I am inlove with it .. so sleek, stylish and my Dad gave it to me.

accidentally dropped this phone and while the drop was only minor the silver finish of the upper slide assembly was completely chipped off - there wasn't a corner that didn't chip. It made the drop worse than it actually was. It only fell around 3 feet (probably lower) and it looks like someone took the phone apart, dropped it one by one and put it back together. The sides of the screen (the groove joining the silver and the screen), the rear corners of the slide were all chipped off.
I think that when the phone dropped, the shock must've rippled through the plastic and warped the plastic a bit. The quick warp must have affected the finish. This is not unusual in terms of physics but they could've at least made the paint more flexible!
Don't get me wrong, these defects were not there before this happened.

finally! samsung has made good phone at reasonable price! this phone is cool! this u700 quite similar with iPod. the rolling scroller and the music player proved it (podcast is the most obvious). n the music player software from the cd, also similar like iTunes. the ultra slim u700 and the thin iPod. seems like i have 2 identical twin music player ......iPod earphone is way better. once my Ipod is outta batt, got it covered! the u700 geek stuffs are among the best. n the most thing that have to mention is, ALL EYES ON IT!!

I have had the U700 for about 4 days now and I am finally getting use to it. My only problem is that I cant end a call with the call cancel button. Say for instance I dila a number than realise its wrong. I cant use the call end buttone to end the call. I either have to slide the phone down or press the middle key then press cancel. By then the other person has already received a miss call. My friend who has the same phone also has this problem so I want to know if this is normal or if there is a problem with my phone. Its very frustrating!

@Chad & patrick.. it wasn't John who said that it isn't available yet in Philippines.. I did.. Iam from the south too and do you know Festival mall, I went looking for the U700 at welcom and other cellular shops but they told me that it wasn't out yet and they've only got u600. Luckily Samsung has an exhibit in the lower floor showing their latest handsets. And I got one and yeah for 0% interest in 12 months for P19,000..
There were some people, not authorized dealers who are selling this model but am not sure if it's the real thing since usually those kind of stuff especially
those bought from greenhills are fake and altered or reconditioned only.. or otherwise from china manufacturer...
The sensitive keys are okay except with the cancel button where it always closes when i used the wheel to scroll my sms, given that i have small fingers..
@Malvin_NL .. why don't u try not pressing the erase button too long.. juz short press for each letter..
@anonymous.. i guess the keylock cannot be cancelled becoz of the senstive keys.. you might press it accidentally if the keylock is not activated fast..
@alex.. i tries looking for the hole to put stuff, or design strap on but i wasnt able to find one.. my brother suggested who also owns a samsung but a different model that
i should try attaching it in the small hook in where you insert the battery..
@anonymous.. try pressing the # key for 2 seconds to enter different symbols including apostrophe..
