First start with *#0002*28346#
1. You will see menu showing "Under construction".
Press #.
2. New screen apears.:
[1] Load Params
[2] Call Config
3. Press Call Config
4. New screen (in here are all the settings for call volume):
[1] RCV Rx Call Vol (that`s what we focus on)
[2] RCV Rx Drmf Vol[]
[3] RCV Codec Gain[]
[4] RCV NS-EC[]
[5] RCV Tx AGC[]
[6] RCV Rx AGC[]
[7] RCV Tx Filter[]
[8] RCV Rx Filter[]
5. Press 1 to get into RCV Rx Call Vol Settings.
6. Now starts the editting.
You should see something like this (values below are not default cause i already changed them):
0.[2] rx:0.0dB
1.[4] rx:10.0dB
2.[6] rx:25.0dB
3.[8] rx:50.0dB
4.[10] rx:100.0dB
5.[12] rx:200.0dB
6.[14] rx:255.0dB
Input Ex: 123-> 12.3dB
Last line explains almost everything.
Each line represents different volume levels. Let`s say you want to edit first line. Then you press 0. Screen on your phone should blink. Now you enter value for the level. Let`s say you want it to be 21.3dB. Type in 213 and press ok. Display should blink and you will see:
0.[2] rx:21.3dB
1.[4] rx:10.0dB
2.[6] rx:25.0dB
3.[8] rx:50.0dB
4.[10] rx:100.0dB
5.[12] rx:200.0dB
6.[14] rx:255.0dB
Input Ex: 123-> 12.3dB
That`s it. You just changed first line which means the lowest volume setting to 21.3dB. Keep playing with other settings. When you want to change second line just press 1. Then screen blinks again. Let`s say you want it to be 255dB. Type in 2550 and press OK. Screen blinks and you should see:
0.[2] rx:21.3dB
1.[4] rx:255.0dB
2.[6] rx:25.0dB
3.[8] rx:50.0dB
4.[10] rx:100.0dB
5.[12] rx:200.0dB
6.[14] rx:255.0dB
Input Ex: 123-> 12.3dB
7. Now let`s go to speakerphone.
Press # 4 times.
You should get to menu like this:
[1] Debug Screen
[2] Version/DMS Information
[3] RF Test
[4] UMTS rf nv
[5] Read gsm rf nv
[6] Write gsm rv nv
[7] Base Band
[8] Audio (that`s where we are going now)
[9] Common
8. Press 8.
You should see:

The Codes Don,t Work On My U-700...
- o
- optional
- 0Em
- 16 Mar 2009
Try using one of these two codes to improve sound level [increase ear gain if u may]. either;
*#8999*8378#
or;
*#0206*8378#
just type them in after you unlock. if the codes work, the last four digits before the # [8378], will become ----
example; you will see *#8999*----#instead of all the digits you entered.

I find this phone so elegant looking, so feminine so i bought one two weeks ago. I find it so difficult to use the touch keys, so sensitive that it just do its own thing. While in the midde of organize my pix, it would just return to the wallpaper so many times, until i become so tired of repeating commands, that i stopped using it for a while coz i might throw it against the wall ggrrrrr. I've been so careful handling this phone coz it seemed so delicate. And now am trying to transfer my music from my PC to this phone, but i couldnt, anybody who can help me, please email me at jazgm512@yahoo.com.

I read the comments about the colour wearing off and the scratching of the screen.. thats why i got my U700 in black and not silver .. i have had it for 10 months now and i have no complaints at all except for the pc studio which i found easier when i had the D600 and that this phone is not loud enough which is common in all samsung phones.. there are codes to get it louder but the ones i tried didn't work for the U700 so maybe there are other codes... but i recommend getting this phone if you are planning to treat it well cause it is not the kind of phone that recieves a big fall and still be ok like the D600...
best of luck xxx

It's a great mirror, but definitely wouldn't recommend it if you need a phone.

i dont recommend it for heavy usage,
battery dies within a day or a two hour call, and the sound is very low that u cant hear it if ure in a noisy place,peels off quickly,and if ure having a call and another call is waiting the phone answers it as ur face touches the buttons
but the camera is good though

Appalling phone.
1) to unblock the keypad you push the centre button twice, which means you call people from your pocket all the time.
2) the touch sensitive keys are awful to use.
3) the scroll wheel is useless, slow
4) the camera is slow to take a picture
5) it's impossible to see the screen when there's even a little bit of sun
and the real shocker:
6) the screen is pathetically delicate. I was careful with mine and it still broke within a month. I haven't had it repaired. They said it had been hit and would cost 70 euros to repair. I told them to throw it in the bin.
Samsung used to be good, but this phone is terrible.
