They work under the ... moreAndro, do you mean that electrons and holes are fermions with half integer spin, an exciton may either be in a singlet state or a triplet state depending on how the spins of the electron and hole have been combined. Statistically three triplet excitons will be formed for each singlet exciton. Decay from triplet states is spin forbidden, limiting the internal efficiency of fluorescent devices. Phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes make use of spin–orbit interactions to facilitate intersystem crossing between singlet and triplet states ?

Cool down, wait until TCO responds, i wrote them and publish their respond. They have strict requirements in Sweden. Also in Germany. The cr@p would not come unnoticed.

As Anonymous correctly mentioned the decay of excited state results in a relaxation of the energy levels of the electron, accompanied by emission of radiation whose frequency is in the visible region. Or could be in UV.

But the frequency of this radiation depends on the band gap of the material. And if this is true it

1) could be possible that nothing is emitted beyond the gap, i.e. blue frequencies 0.43 micron. So we will have exactly ***zero*** harm.
2) besides glass itself is not transparent for UVB
3) if it emits UVA, NUV, UVB then i hope Samsung hired not complete idiots and added to the glass UV absorbers which is very easy to do since UV filters are known for centuries in photography.

You've never used an AMOLED have u?

They work under the same principals as LCDs except they use organic diodes to produce light which have off states to produce deep blacks leading to vibrant colors via the contrast, and they save battery power since each pixel in a picture with dark colors is in an off state or is technically a turned off pixel (No power used) or a low power state, also each AMOLED pixel produces it's own light, manufacturers provide backlights to boost the existing lighting in outdoor scenarios, with an option to turn the additional lighting off...
these are the qualities tht make AMOLEd desirable vibrant colors and low power usage...

CRTs use an electron gun to fire electrons at the screen; that react with the phosphorous coated front display to produce light..

c'mon they teach this in physics class, high school to Uni... u got to be kidding me with tht loong a** answer tht makes no sense!!!

LCDs OLEDs AMOLEDs are based on crystal manipulation technology and are safe for ur eyes

CRTs are miniature particle accelerators tht smash electrons to a screen converting their energy to light energy via reacting with phosphorous coatings... n they aren't tht great for ur eyes a below 50Hz CRT can cause Nausea n headaches!!!

Alui, 27 Jul 2010Even IF they do emit UV, 1 it is of rezidual values, 2 t... moreAll UV is dangerous. It is ionizing radiation capable of changing your DNA. From the sun the UVA and UVB bands are claimed to be the most dangerous.

And the distance here is much smaller then with other monitors or TVs. I've seen my kid playing with thisphone at the distance 6.5" from his eyes. I watch movies at 8.5" with reading glasses. Do you realize what that means? It means as if we sit in front of 40-60" TV.

But it is very possible the UV level is almost zero here if Samsung cared or voltage is small. So we need to check first, it's by the way easy as 2x2. Each school kid can do that, just take standard spectrometer

1 it is of rezidual values,
2 the intensity decreases with the distance.
3 not all UV are dangerous, those close to the visible spectrum (as it MIGHT be the case here) pose no risk.

Anyway UV it's everywere when the sun shines:).

I will look with the spectrometer same time soon what we get from SAMOLED in UV range.

As we know usually Swedish standard is very strict on all kinds of radiation from monitors. Will see if they will raise this question at some point.

But the solution here is probably easy as adding UV absorbing protection materials into glass.

Do anyone knows what is max voltage applied on subpixel? That will be max energy of the photons the screen will be able to emit.

Vibrant doesn't have front facing camera and gsmarena doesn't correct the specs in order to misinform the buyers. The same for Captivate, Captivate doesn't have front facing camera and its specs on gsmarena wrongly state that it has. It is no error, it is on purpose to promote these buggy galaxies.

More of a question than a opinion.. How do I copy my contacts to my Vibrant? My sim card doesn't allow me to attach pictures, or ringtones to my contacts and its driving me NUTS!!!! Please help!

AMOLED is definitely worse than a good TFT - ISP with LED back lit.

An important factor that has to be consider for this Super AMOLED is that the light directly beams into eyes from its source which is OLEDs.

All natural vision of human eyes is when the light comes from reflections of light, generated by sun or lamps, over objects: the photon beams don't directly get from source into eyes; also the beam of phones is not reflected as you may think: you don't get back through reflection the original photons from source; the phones are not as ping-pong balls cast back by objects which they hit; the beam is absorbed by objects, converted in energy and the objects emit other photons back in a sub spectrum of the original beam, lower intensity and broader uniformity over object surface thus giving color to objects and thus protecting the eyes from artificial light that maybe dangerous for human retina when comes from artificial powerful punctiform sources. The LED back lit from TFT is diffused over a white panel then by reflection passes though liquid crystals and get into eye so it is a reflected light, not the original light. OLED like CRT colored phosphors or plasma's pixels directly beam the light into eyes thus you are not protected from X-rays and ultraviolet emissions (UV radiation) and high energy photons which make lesions in organic tissue.

So, TFT displays are safer for health than AMOLED and CRT and plasma displays.

i have the samsung vibrant and i love it. i found it cheaper than the iphone 4 and i say that they rate about the same.... but i cant say the iphone for might have a little more advantages, such as more features, etc. but over all the phone is great phone
