Hello, I'm from Indonesia
I've got this phone yesterday.. still doubting shock resistant.
Overall, casing is more plastic (like normal phone) not like 2100 (.
IMHO
I think the specification maybe correct, they didn’t put MIL-STD 810F.
Dimension is big, that I like.. Looks good in hand
TFT sreen is nice, camera is OK.
Got new feature (GPS, compass), but not for shock resistant .

damm damm samsung . why the hell didnt you put 2000mah battery in this like the previous 2G xcover . this has only 1300 mah battery which lasts only 9-10 hours . where as the previous xcover easily gives me around 18-19 hours continuous talktime ......so basically i will stick to previous xcover as i dont need 3g or facebook and twitter apps , neither am i gonna submerge my fone in water for more than 10 mins on purpose .
so i suggest for half the price of this phone , go for the previous xcover which has super super battery power than this !!

roar, 06 Nov 2010There is two modes I believe, GPS and Assisted GPS, the lat... moresimply GPS uses satelites for discovering position. but it can take 1-5 minutes to get location, so for it is Assisted GPS - it gets approximate location from cell phone towers, so it can detect with accurancy 500m-2000 meters where phone is located, then look for satelites faster, because phone now knows what satellites are visible in sky in that position - so it can faster get data from those satellites.
i down know how it is with this phone, but in windows mobile i had a program which downloaded sattelite current location for a week where they exactly will be, so it could connect to GPS satellites in less than a minute :)

Anonymous, 10 Nov 2010No. B2710 is still tougher because it is 1ngress Protection... morei think IP and mil std 810 are different.IP certify protection against dust and water, while mil std certify protection against drop, extreme temperature, humidity.so,IP 67 certified doesnt mean the phone drop proof

hi all.I have that phone already 2 days and after the first charging the battery is down only with one line after 36 hours of using(new mobile-imagine how!) It is promising a long life battery on a first look. So the only one thing I notice is that that I cannot find where is that altimeter, pedometer is here, but alti-one I do not see!!!I had samsung 2100 and comparing the menus I find slide differences some for good, some worst but you cannot judge,it is not something big.Better coulors than 2100 and bigger, but lighter on weight! For almost 2 days I am having nothing wrong with it i hope it stays like that, price in Cyprus where I am is 156 Euro,so it is OK.
hope that was usefull if you have questions-ask,battery is 1300Amph

This is the most useful phone I have ever heard of. I hope it's better than samsung marine explorer and please release it in asia! I love the idea of having a phone that's shock/waterproof with gps, flashlight, compass, altimeter and pedometer. But it wouldve been better if they included a SOLAR PANEL!!! That's a true outdoor phone.
