It's true the torch often comes on in my pocket, but the phone certainly performs well in other areas. Rugged and tough but as commented on before, liable to freezing, and having to remove the battery to remedy this.

The torch button will be turned on in your pocket while hunting or walking in the wilderness. When you get to the cottage after a 20 km walk, the phone is very low on battery. If there is no electrical power in the cottage, then the 19 days battery live is of no use.
Samsung should make it posibel to disable the torch button or make a top cover that protect the torch button so it will not be pressed "ON" in your pocket.

All the rest; water resistant, w/ GPS, compass and radio are very usuable.

Great phone for my trade however when I go to my contacts and type in the first letter, why do all the contacts with the letter appear?

I only want the contacts to appear that start with this letter. This is really frustrating me.

As the authorized service told me they don't open this phones. If they can't fix them with software they replace it with new one. So I got a new one with up to date firmware. The only reason I had to wait four weeks is because they were waiting for new shipment from Samsung.
While I was waiting for replacement I got familiar with GPS apps and now I like this phone even more. I'd recommend Trekbuddy and Wetravel

Had been using this phone for about three weeks. I was getting familiar with gps java apps (Navigami, Trekbuddy, MGMaps). I made 1,2gb large MGMmap cache that contained 50.000 files. I then inserted the card in phone and it was reading it much longer than usual which I didn't find strange as it had to read 50.000 new files. So i set up alarm clock and went to sleep.
In the morning phone didn't ring, was unresponsive and was still reading SD card. I switched it off took the SD card out and switched it back on. The start-up animation played out but nothing happened. The phone would reset its self every 5min without success.
It's been more than two weeks since I took it to the dealer and am still waiting for it.
Will report when I get it back.

B2710. Love this phone but in the last 4 months since I got one I have dialed emergency services inadvertently at least 10 times.

Even though the key pad is locked numbers like 911, 999, 112, 111 can still be dialed if something contacts the key pad whilst its in my pocket. It is driving me crazy not to mention our emergency services. Can this very annoying feature be disabled?

Vagabond, 05 Feb 2011Just got this phone from UK. Works great on Rogers in Canad... moreTo Vagabond: Did you buy this phone unlocked? The reason I ask is because not so long ago I bought the similar Samsung B2100 unlocked from an online retailer in the UK and when I went to North America recently, the phone wouldn't boot up on a Rogers SIM, or FIDO (same people really).

It only worked on an AT&T SIM when I was in the States.

Are there any good cases for this phone? I know it's strong and all but I'd like to extend it's luster by protecting it from scratches. I'm in Australia and I don't mind paying for shipping.
