I dont think that you can use MP3s directly as message tones, I think you need to convert them to MMF files. Converters are easy to obtain... I only wanted one message tone (if you've seen Eurotrip, you might get what I'm on about), so I do have the converter

Got this fone two days ago and it totally rocks. I read all the reviews I could before buying it and it seemed rather mixed but I have no idea why, it is awesome, would recommend it to anyone.
Would however like to know how to make mp3 text ringtones...The 6 they offer are far from decent and an mp3 feature would be nice.. am I overlooking something? Can someone help on this matter?
Thats my only issue as I text a lot rather than call.
Dont forget this fone is just damn sexeh and worth any contract deal!!!

MP3 can be used as ringtones on the Z500V but they are very quiet. Must be the firmware cos using the same tone for the alarm is much louder.
The Vodafone provided PIM/File mangager doesn't allow me to download M4A audio files to the phone, doesn't make sense as the phone does support it. Has anyone managed to get the Z500V to connect with SAMSUNG PC Studio?

I would really like to know how the sound quality of the mp3s are when played on this phone. As a friend of mine says the quality of mp3s are very poor when played on the samsung p730. THANKS!

I have my Z500 now for 3 weeks.
It is a nice phone, but my battery lifetime sucks. 1-2 days and it is empty. And I just have it on standby and make a short phone call now and then.

Ok, I hope this helps you people make a choice about this phone!
I did have a SE k700i, which feature wise was one of the best phones i've had, also user friendly.
i chose hard when it came to my upgrade and wanted 3g. i first picked up the nokia 6680.. feature packed but too big for me! It then came down to SE v600i and samsung z500.
V600i has fm radio (listening to your footy team while in the middle of nowhere!) *the samsung does not* v600i has really nice screen and contrast, *samsung not so good but still very very usable*. also things like the menu system for sending text is quicker, full calculater with the percent button is really handy if your in bussiness or self employed like me. *samsung doesnt*
It is compatible with my macintosh computer also,*samsung not fully compatible* the only thing that does let SEv600i down is that there is no memory card ( but i never filled my k700i up and that had the same amount of memory) also samsung alarms wont go off if the phone is switched off and i used to use my k700i to wake me up while switched off and i assume that SE v600i would do the same.....
BUT... looks and size go hands down to the samsung! SO much smaller and so much better looking in my mind and so being prepared to leave features behind that i needed, and found made my mobile life easier i went for the samsung....... i'm gutted i did though because the battery life is awful!!!
something i didnt check properly and after using this phone for a while its finnaly showed itself as giving me a days charge from 8am when i leave the house to approx 8pm, but yesterday i left at 8am used the wap on the phone for a while and the phone died at 5pm .. How the hell am i gonna get on at a v festival, im ther for 2 days... i wanna take photos of me and my pals, take some video footage of band, I havent exactly got a plug socket with me in my tent.....
this is a big let down to the phone and also to me, ok maybe ill buy 3 spare batterys and have them charged at the ready...A JOKE!

Differences against O2 X4
X4 does not have an MP3 player (unlike shown on here, thats why they give a Shuffle away with it)
3G video calling not on X4
External display at 65K on Z500, 4K on X4
Z500 is Tri-Band, X4 is dual band only
and size and weight differences of course

I've had my z500 for two months now! It's been working absolutely fine! Not a single freezing! Although I must say the battery isn't the best, but then again NONE are nowadays.
Buy z500, it's the major best! And the feeling when you hold it is divine. If you want something qualitative, then buy Samsung z500!

Does anyone know where to get a BodyGlove Z500 case? I can get a Krussel one but would prefer a BodyGlove one, as they look better, and don't make your phone smell of buffalo leather!
Have they even made one yet?

This thing with the led front screen shouldn't be a problem as i've had the E700 for about 2 years now and no degredation in brightness or pixels have occurred, 1 year is over 3000 hours and most vhs and dvd players have similar screens (not always blue i admit) but if this was the case with this phone, you could replace it within it's year's warranty,
after rationalising it doesn't make any sense.
Hope this rids any fears.
BTW, iv'e just got this phone as a replacement for the E1000, yes battery not great but it's just as good as the moto (2 days ish), BUT....... i can put this phone in my pocket AND sit down at the same time!!
"Bye bye MOTO!"

I didn't find texting too bad with the phone, only had to press OK once more than with my 6600 to get to the input screen. You can use the centre button to speed things up.

yeah it is only the bottom half.. its just annoying that, after a while, it will wear out. Wiki quotes that blue OLED's have a lifespan of 1000hrs, although it has been improved, but only in March :( so it was too late for this phone.
I also think its annoying that the phone doesn't show missed calls in the top half of the screen, like with messages. Apart from that (only nitpicks really), its a great phone
