How would you go about getting the "D500's SoundMate" for the Z500? I have no experience with Samsung phones, so could someone please explain this a bit more?

          Thankyou.

Upgraded to the Z500v(all black, branded Vodafone) for 4 days now. What a great little fone.Battery life could be better but it has been getting some very heavy use(B/tooth file swaps+Game/mpeg3 playing),suspect it will get better after a few charges. It charges from completely flat in 1hr-1hr'30.Believe the OLED is only the bottom part of the sub disp, which switches off after a short period, so the previously quoted 1000 hour lifespan-(If it is true?)-of the OLED part means it should last the life of the fone. The mpeg3 player is ok, but lacks bass. The fone is well built, smaller than other 3G handsets with a resonable size of keypad as well.

Use bluetooth if you can, just make the phone visible, then connect and send the file... I don't like Samsung's software TBH, it was a BIT CHallenging (sic) to set up, then finding/reserving the com port in the software was too! IR is hard to keep connected with such a small IR area on the phone

I was a Nokia addict, but got deterred from the 6680 by the upgrade price on O2 for offpeak300. I really like the Z500, its not hard to use at all, the only thing is getting used to pressing # rather than 0 for spaces!
I like the fact you can lock specific features. I have locked messages contacts and call logs so you need the code to enter it.
I also like the fact you can use the D500's SoundMate for even better sound quality, the normal quality is good but the SM gives extra bass
I don't think it has EDGE, but 3G downloading is fatster than EDGE (300+ compared to 200+)
The phone is very well built IMO

                        Does this handset has EDGE?
Can anyone who already has this phone in his pocket tell me how solid this phone is?
I look forward to buying this phone but as I am a 'nokia-addicted' I want to be sure this phone is so good as it seems.
So..pls every1 who owns the z500..A GENERAL IMPRESSION!
                        Thank you all in advance

External screen can be switched off, so that it only comes up when you get a message, call etc. It can display a clock, message or picture depending on your settings, as well as the equaliser/track name in media player mode.

Its just kind of annoying that they used "organic" materials that decompose so fast

What does the external screen display? Just a clock? Or can you put a screensaver on it? Or even disable it completely?

At least the internal one is TFT.

Just been looking on Wikipedia about the OLED display.. ARGH! Blue OLED's only have a lifespan of 1000 hours. Really wish they'd put a TFT or even standard-type LCD on the front now!

Didn't know it was £350. What network is that?

Not sure bout the weight. Although 9g isnt a lot of difference

is it a heavy fone cos av sin 2 weights advertised 96grams and 105grams? which is true? is it worth the £350 price tag? the z500 has a release data of 01/08/05 which is 2 mondays. thanks
