First off, Sony is a great brand!!! IN TV'S and RADIO'S and other home electronics. Not in phones. They're phone's are garbage!!! Just cause the camera is slightly better in the K800, who cares. They're both 3.2 megapixels. Thats what Sony's known for, their camera's. But Samsung is known for their quality phones. They're better than any other phones out there. They look better, perform better, and are more unique than other phones. I mean who the hell is into bar phones these days. It's lame. It would annoy the hell out of me if i had to lock the phone everytime i wanna put it in my pocket or case. Clamshell is the way to go and to sthrengthen htat, they put a twist on it. Samsung basically came out with the first megapixel rotating camera and sliding phones. And god Nokia's are huge. Nice but huge. Samsung kills any other brand out there. Just cause there Samsung doesnt have IR who cares. Who the hell needs IR these days. Everything is bluetooth, computers, cars, headsets, etc. You dont see a headset with IR lol. I mean people get with the program, SAMSUNG has better quality phones and they sure are better lookin than most phones. Ok i admit that Motorola stunned "the world" with the Razr and Slvr series but the phone's are terrible, camera sucks, and its the slowest phone possible. EVERYONE has the razr, including me (Dolce and Gabana V3i) and i think it SUCKS!!!!! The only reason i got it was to get a phone no one has in my area and i'm waitin for the Z710 to come out. You better believe that i'll be one of the first to have it. Thanks and ALWAYS choose SAMSUNG.

Z710 is YOUR better choice, not the better choice.
Both phones have the same features, but these features are better in SE K800, K800 is more orientated to camera than Z710, this is the reason of image stabilizer, xenon flash, best pic and others.
Z710 has CCD camera matrix, but it isnt indicative of better job in a camera, I remember to all people that professional SLR cameras uses CMOS matrix, and K750 in comparing with samsung P750 2MP CCD camera, K750 wins in all aspects.
The new JAVA Plattform (JP-7) MIDP 2.0 in SE K800 allow to programmers write java aplications to manage camera functions, and make games in QVGA resolution with 30fps without hardware acceleration.
And about screens, Z710 has bigger screen (2.15 inch). In comparisson the screen is in the same level in colour rendition with K800 screen (2.0 inch)
Bluetooth 2.0 EDR in SE vs Bluetooth 1.2 in Z710
Conclussion: If you want nice design with average camera and functions go with Z710, otherwise, if you want better functions and better camera choose K800 or the upcomming nokia N73

In z710 features it says nothing about the camera having flash.But in the pics you can see one diode of flash.Rather poor when comparing it to the two diode xenon flash of the k800.But it is still not a huge disadvantage.As earlier said,k800 is a phone for people who put features first.But basically both phones have the same features.Simply stated,z710 is the better choice.

Sorry,I seemed to have speed-read the z710 features.I now realize why z710 is somewhat better than k800.The only disavantage is not having infrared.However,it is not such a big deal and can be excused by the cool design and excellent features.It is simply more innovative than k800.I would much rather this than k800 or N90.I'm not 100 percent sure abuot N93.

well the writeup on slashphone says that it does have symbian, but samsungs own page does not say anything about the "os" at all...
as for when its out, in norway atleast it should be out next month. other then that i dont know...

Samsung Z710 is soooooo cool!!!! i will buy it the moment it comes out. i also like the samsung z550, which has not come out yet either.

why are people arguing over which phone is better...btw....this is the samsung z710 opinion page, not the sony ericsson k800 advertisement page right? stop arguing....
anyways...i find it odd that there are no official websites for this phone...i looked it up on a german website, and was happy to find that "strahlung" (apparently radiation...) was pretty low...SAR level 0.5 :]

i think personally that the k800i is better than this because it luks better and they both hav kind of the same qualities. this phone is for people that show off

I dont really have this phone (and im doubtful if this will be released soon :-))& I currently own a D720. But ok, let's compare these two phones :
Weight/Size : K800 is 8 grams heavier & 10 mm wider. That's a lot.
Display : Samsung is known to produce quality screens than SE, since both hav a QVGA screen, Z710 should hav a btter display than K800i.
MP3 Sound : K800 is better with the headset, Z710 has the advantage in speakers.
Design : Undoubtedly, Z710 outclasses K800i.
Camera : SE is known to produce quality pics but Z710 uses CCD Matrix which is better than CMOS which d K800i uses.So we cant tell which is d better one.
Video : K800i is still with the ancient QCIF res, while Z710 will most likely have a CIF, like other samsung phones.
K800i has infrared, Z710 has TV Out.
Z710 has document viewer (excel, word) while SE has none.
Z710 has 128MB internal memory, K800 has only 64MB.M2 cards are still unpopular, only 512MB will b available this year while micro-SD will hav 2Gb at the end of d year.
So which is d better phone?Z710...

The point is...samsung is making phones that are slim and good looking and they are compromising on the quality a little bit. Its not the best but good...and they have customer for that... This days they are coming up with models thats needs to be carried in shirt pocket not jeans pocket. Like me if you are ok with it, then go for it.
SE, Nokia is focused on features and they don't care about the design. Do they have a model slim enough and still having those features???.. NOO. They simply cant do that at this time. So if you are ok with it and wanna cary your phone in your jeans pocket..go for it.

I have laptops and computers from 90s none of them have ifrared port...and Im sure there are many people like me who doesnt need infrared in phone. when you have USB you basically do'nt need it at all. Nokia, SE still putting that feature so that no one complains.
The day Smasung will decide to launch there models worldwide and not just in Korea...you people will have no words. Its just a matter of time.So watch out.

Quality of pics in K800 are equally to a regular digital cam, it isnt a professional camera, its enough to many users. And K800 and Z710 weights almost the same.
Your problem is: K800 is a better phone than Z710
If your statements are true, ¿why samsung make phones like i series with HD?, its only to compete with iPod, nokia and SE music phones.
If you follow your own statements you will buy a very cheap phone, with basic functions and no more. You will buy an alcatel or nokia 1100, only to make/receive calls and send sms.
Samsung launch Z710 to compete with nokia and SE cam phones, putting 3,2MP CCD with autofocus only to make competence with other models, and obviously enter in a comparisson with these models, in addition share almost the same features. ¿Why not compare Z710 with K800 and N73?

K800 is a HUGE phone. If samsung would make a phone which has d size of K800, they would probably put all possible features that you can ask for.Samsung has 5 or 10 Megapixel camera phones (CDMA) but their size are still small.That's what people want in a phone. Only stupid people would prefer a big phone with so much features than a right-sized phone with enough features. Y?because a phone is for calling/texting, not for camera or mp3.No phone can replace a digicam and an ipod.Well, some can, like SE & Nokia, but that would make their phone so BIG, like in the case of N91 & K800i.

Many laptops have IR port, a lot of cheap and mid range phones of SE, Siemens and Nokia have IR. ¿¿¿Why dont put an IR to change photos, tones or others???
Only samsung and motorola refuse to use IR but the others manufacturers use it in almost all handsets including the latest advanced phones like N93.
And if you talk about Bluetooth SE phones have better bluetooth compatibility and A2DP with EDR for energy saving.

You dont have to use the smaller external screen as viewfinder..you can use the big internal screen just by rotating it. Why dont you people read something before posting? Clamsell design protects the screen and you dont need to lock-unlock the phone every now and then. It has more advantage than candybar design.
Can anyone post why they still need Infrared???
I would like to know why we need it..blutooth is the future. and I dont see equipment with infrared to work with a cell phone. Please post.
