thanks skater, but i think i found out the reason why its not working. i have the taiwan firmware and only certain types of java works on it. so i downloaded the games and it still didnt work. then i read on other forums and they said it could be the firmware that i have is the pirated version. but thanks for your help !!!!!

I've just read this on one of Skater.... post which is not true...
"Songs larger than 3MB cannot be played from the internal memory. Security feature for ringtones I think..."
Mp3 larger than 3MB can't be put as ringtone when put on internal memory but can still be played in the play list or access directly... as i have tryed to put mp3 larger than 3mb on my internal memory to put as ringtone but it give an error but when access directly it plays fine.

Sorry to hear that, not much you can do... Waranty can only be claimed with Vodafone KK (if Japanese) or other VF resellers if EU.
To get the warranty claim you must have the original receipt, which you wouldn't have.
Also, once they find out that the phone was "serviced" by an un-authorized dealer this would void any warranty immediatelly.

I don't know about the file-size limit for TXT files. Haven't tried it...
I can play MP3/MP4 files of almost any size. The last MP3 that stalled was about 40 MB.
Make sure your memory card isn't COMPLETELY full when you try to access the play lists. If it tries to refresh and says "Not enough memory for this operation" or something alike, then it won't index all songs and they may not play.
Songs larger than 3MB cannot be played from the internal memory. Security feature for ringtones I think...

Thank you for the advice skater. The problem is that they lied about not taking my phone apart, and after shipping back to the company in Australia from which I purchased it, they stated that the phone had been dismantled. The lied to me on many occassions about numerous issues. I actually came in contact with them through ebay, and emailed them directly about 903 flashing before I even saw there internet page. I was aware that some individuals and companies claim that they should not be liable for and damages caused by services, but they did not state that when I shipped my 903 to them in February. Their site has also changed since that time, probably because of this situation, my demand for them to correct the problem.
They specifically claimed that they were a Vodafone provider, which I thought was impossible since they weren't anywhere near the European, Asian, or Pacific domain. That is one of the many lies that they told me. I am just really dismayed that what they stated would take no longer than a few hours to actually perfom took more than three weeks, since they had to ship the phone to Hong Kong, to fix their dirty work, behind my knowledge. Throughtout that time they were telling me that my phone was ready for shipment and it was to be shipped on the next business day after they were finished testing it for any bugs. They just abused my patience and confidence in their work.
I am looking at their site now, and I see that it has dramatically changed when about unlocking information. If I was told that they would be opening my phone, I would not have sent it to them. They lied about many things. Such information was not on their site before. I presume they must have killed a lot of other's Sharp phones.
Anyway, after contacting the company from which I purchased the phone, they stated that the phone was unserviceable up to the point of replacing the entire motherboard, since the flash chip was bad. Also, since I am in the U.S. and do not have a cellular service contract with Vodafone, my phone could not be covered under any warranty, since all warranties go through Vodafone and not Sharp. Please tell me otherwise, if I'm mistaken.

ok this is weird, i finally managed to view a text file on the phone but when i tried to do the same with a similar file that was bigger it failed to open it...the first file was about 78 kb big and the 2nd about 135 kbs....does it only view 100 kb and less text files? same happened with an mp3 file actually..it was 6 mbs big and it wouldnt load it but it would play just fine smaller songs....

I am very doubtful about easycell. The fact that they have "stores" does not convince me that everything is "clean".
If they had a service contract with SHARP, and not Vodafone KK, they shouldn't upgrade firmwares via testpoints.
Flashing via testpoints requires you to take the phone appart and short out the test-point which allows access to the chip. I have never done it, but my techy explained this to me. If someone can give a better explanation, please feel free.
SHARP dealers would not take apart your phone to upgrade it, to time consuming & risky. They can access the firmware directly.
Vodafone in Australia & Germany (countries I reside in) do not do repairs. They send phones to a SHARP service center's to get them upgraded. Vodafone Japan (KK) does instore exchange and upgrades, according to their web site.
Having a contract with Vodafone KK still doesn't seem plausible as they are a reseller of SHARP phones, not the direct manufacturer.
My theory here is this: Their web site states clearly "Upgrade - Testpoint" - if this was the case and they did take your phone apart, then it is not unlikely that this could have damaged your chip.
Should you bother to take legal action? If you've got the money and time...hell, even if, just leave it alone. Don't ever use them again and make sure no one you know does either. Read their terms & conditions and you'll find that everything is "your fault" if you use them. Why bother.
Make sure it gets repaired and simply enjoy using the 903SH :)

I see about the lawsuit, but I assume that will get them more in trouble than it would me wouldn't it? Anyway, I sought several opinions and that of my seller, who now has the phone. He confirmed that the flash chip was bad, and they probably overloaded it during flashing by not paying attention, and that is the reason for the phone blinking on and off. I do not have the phone with me now as it is with the seller from whom I purchased it. Unfortunately, I am in the U.S. and there is not one service location anywhere near me. I think that I am the only one who may know of this phone and Sharp models in the entire state of Alabama. I know I am definitely the only one with knowledge of a phone like this in my in north Alabama, and my county. I've only talked to one person who knew that Sharp even made cellular phones. You would be surprised at the response I get from my cellular provider when I am calling about service and they ask me of my cellular phone model. They basically believe that I must be looking at the wrong thing or saying the phone is "sharp" as in good-looking, until I explain more.
Easycell.ca is the company in Canada, the ruined my phone and did not want to take responsibility. Some of the statements and excuses they gave showed that they thought I knew nothing about how getting a phone like this works. They stated that they were directly in contract with Vodafone Japan. That is why I am considering taking them to court to expose them, especially for lying to me and damaging my phone. Have you had or heard of any experiences with www.easycell.ca?

Well, it's all about what you want in a phone.
If you need high-tech screen & camera quality, with an excellent music player then this phone is for you.
If you are after a light-weight and smaller sized trendy phone I do not recommend the 903. Japanese phones, contrary to European markets, are tech-heavy and do not focus as much on design and size. They outweigh most phones in quality and technilogical advances. Most comparable to modern Nokia phones (N-Series), these handsets offer the most for the next generation camera & 3G mobiles.
If a 3.2 MPx camera in a mobile interests you then SHARP is the way to go, otherwise I'd recommend you look for a Samsung or LG.

pls help, i just got this phone few weeks,but after i unlocked this phone,the sound is so soft when outside compared to other phone with same model..and also i can't set a MP3 as a ringtones as well,any bros know about it pls give me an advise

I did the 8+power trick. the SD card comes up in the "gsx games" section. but none of the games i put in are there. does anyone know why?
oh and i have a A6290, applix 1.11
could that be the reason?

does anyone know whether the Sharp LCD MP3 Remote Control has any impact on the volume of the playing songs?? does it increase the volume more than the normal which is quite low? thanks

Works like the "Show hidden files & folders" on WinXP.

Yes, you can read TXT files ONLY. Simply place any text-file into "Other Documents" and open it.
The phone displays a "txt" symbol in front of the file name.
Word Docs cannot be read. Neither can PDF. Only scalable format is SWF (Flash) and T-SVG.

Lawsuit isn't gonna do you any good. It's just going to get both of you in trouble because only authorized Vodafone/SHARP shops may flash a SHARP phone.
Possession of those files/firmware without authorization is illegal, as the firmware is the sole property of Vodafone/SHARP.
1. Now, a blinking white screen I have had before... Question:
a) Are you sure the flash wasn't completed? Maybe it was the installation that failed. If the files are completely loaded onto the phone you might be able to do the next step.
b) Have you tried to do a #+PWR re-format?
You have nothing to loose, so try to do a #+PWR format if it is a JP or EU 1.046 version. This will tell you how badly your phone was damaged as it won't be able to start/complete the format if the flash was incomplete.
B) Go to a local store where possible and simply try it again. Second opinion counts and I think that a "faulty" chip might just be an easy excuse.
These are fairly general tips as I obviously haven't seen your phone, but the blinking white screen and the "Please Wait" make me think that:
a) the files are installed
b) the phone DOES boot
c) the file system is damaged as the phone is crashing
This happened to me when I cancelled the file-format (#+PWR), once I retried everything was sweet.

Thanks for the reply on that post about my 903. The phone does turn on, but by itself once the battery is installed, and shows a white screen with "Please Wait" then blinks on and off from a white screen to no image, until it stays on a blank white screen. The phone was not having any issues before, and then the company easycell.ca in Canada that was to unlock the phone from beta unlock and flash the phone stated that the flash chip was already bad and that is why the phone was malfunctioning to the white and blank screen. I think they did a terrible job working on my phone, and don't want to take responsibility. The way they were giving me the run-a-round told me that they must have damaged my phone. I am considering a lawsuit, even though they are in Canada and I am in U.S.A. I see you get a lot of request, but I'm patient. Thanks

Guys, I need some help here!
I live in Macedonia, Europe, and I want to buy this phone, HOWEVER, there is one big problem. Vodafone is not a service provider over here, and one of the service providers over here (the one that I am a user of) is being rebranded to T-Mobile. Will the phone work with a T-Mobile SIM card, and if so, will it be possible to use GPRS/UMTS?
