Hi alex and all.
Our difficulty is we(UK version owners)don't have your kind of problems that's why it's hard for us to guide you. And that is also why not many UK version owners complain about their phones. I admire people like you who never stop searching for ways how to solve your problems even Vodafone people don't even have any idea.

Try to put a number on your file's name before the .m4a.

Hi alex.
You can assign any song as callertone as long as it is in Phone's memory as I do on my UK version. And you can assign contact's photo as well.

Yeeeeeah!!! Now Alex...videos would be chicken feed. You can find how to do it everywhere. But have a look at bormanns threads on this site:
http://proff-design.com/FUD/index.php
He uses Moviestage rather than Mediastage as he's got 902(I think). Mediastage is an update of Moviestage and works well with 903.
There's somebody who sells the programs on eBay UK(Commanderspike). I'm sure you'll enjoy your phone more when you mastered video playback. Good luck!

Hi Alex.
I've been following your ordeal and I wish I could help. Try visit http://forums.mobileburn.com/archive/index.php.
In renaming files you might not need to put .m4a.
Your problem is more on DRM files or protected files. Have you tried using a non-DRM files? Like the ones downloaded from a p2p network rather than iTunes? AACs are m4a files by Apple software and most of the times are protected. MP3s can also be converted to m4a by dbpoweramp's FLAC.

IMA.m4a
========
A. Ok, use Bluetooth or IrDA to transfer the file directly into your phone memory.
B. Use your card-reader and upload the file to your MiniSD card. Then transfer it (Move or Copy) to your Phone Memory.
Once the file is in your memory:
1. Options > Set As Ringtone
2. The file is now set as Ringtone.
3. Use any other music M4A file (eg. techno.m4a) under 3MB and transfer it into your PHONE MEMORY (NOT SD CARD).
4. Rename the original IMA.m4a to IMA2.m4a.
5. Rename techno.m4a to IMA.m4a
6. Done!
OK, we have tricked the phone by setting a "protected" (hacked) M4A to the memory. We now have established a "link" from the Phone to the M4A.
If you keep using the same NAME it doesn't matter what size the actual file is, the phone will always "look" for IMA.m4a.
And since we renamed our TECHNO.m4a to IMA.m4a, we now play the actual TECHNO.m4a as a ringtone.
cheers,
Skater42

KDDI & FOMA
===========
There's are lots and lots of HOT and flash phones that FOMA and KDDI offer, but....
You will never be able to use them overseas as they are either PDC or single-mode WCDMA.
Any dual-mode GSM/WCDMA phones offered by FOMA are hopelessly locked and will NEVER work with another network. EVER.
Vodafone is your best bet as they will also publish these kind of phones in overseas networks.
To ALEX:
Alex, you have most likely got the JAP version of the 903. You can use m4a as ringtones with a little trick:
Download the IMA.m4a version and then set it as a ringtone. (Search online)
Put ANY m4a file into the phone memory and replace the name to IMA.m4a. Simple trick!
cheers,

Hey fellows. As we all know many features of the phone have been locked by Vodafone. This means we can do nothing.Just relax people. In tend to think of this device as a digital camera with a bonus phone in it(though it is much more expensive).

Hi Alex. I understand your frustrations. What version do you have? If you have the euro(UK) version you should not have a problem but if you need to flash it, you can find the answers few pages back on this forum by Timmy. It has been discussed many times before or you can ask him directly. Read some threads back and your problem has been covered so many times before and Im sure you'll find the right answers.
