M4as are MP4s(AAC files) converted by Apple's Quick Time that are playable for iPods and other mobile phones. When I got files like them from somewhere I just use my dbPower's FAAC option and that's it. They appear on my 903 as MP4 and they play.

Hi Neal. On the dbPoweramp website(Illustrate), try download the FAAC CLI codec. Next time you open your dbPoweramp program, it should appear on the option box with the downward arrow along with the MP3(Lame),Wave, and Windows Media Audio V9 options.

HEY Reno no I am downloading some mp3s from a site I go all the time some pretty funny ringtones on there and they are free if you know how to get them :) I used dbpower and converted them to AAC files but I dont see them?? Wierd !!! Didnt see the option to convert them to m4a's. Hey Timmy I know its the best but I like the look of the Japanese version and I know the Euro version is much better for application reasons I had it on my 902 but for some reason I like the options Japanese gives you for looks and what not. Im sure im gonna get rid of the beta unlock and go with the Euro but I hate that I cant do it myself I have to send it off and get it done dont like to be without it :) Then if I want to change again have to send it off again what a pain!!!!

        to timmy

actually though i have the jap version it doesn't ask for the reprovisioning anymore since i had it openline so i can use other network. one question about the UK version, even if i'm using another network aside from vodafone can i still switch off the operator logo? i really dont want to see any operator logo that disturbs the wallpaper as skater42 does. but if its not possible thats ok as long as i have a phone that can play mp3 a lot easier w/o having it converted to another format. can you also change the themes with the uk version??

about txting it is true that i have to get used pressing right button twice so i can enter space and i am limited in typing sms up to 160 characters only which is a downside for me because here in the philippines we use sms heavily. and i have some trouble in accessing some wapsites using the phone's browser and i cant send email messages using the email client. i dont know if the problem is on the network i use or is it on the firmware.

im trying to know which would be the best firmware before i have it flashed coz it kinda costs me here in our country to have it flashed. so i want to have my phone flahed for good w/o having it reflashed later on.

and also i was interested in using my phone for dvd playback like what reno does with his phone. can you walk me through how to do that with my phone. if you can send me an email i would highly appreciate it. here's my address markdominic20@yahoo.com.ph

WHat should u know about this mobile?
            A lot...
Great mobile, great 3.2MP camera, great mp3 player (alas, only when use earphone).

For those who want to have mp3 as the ringtones... hmm never happen :)
But you can convert the mp3 to mp4 (use quick time player) and your mobile sings your favo songs when someone call you :))

Hi Neal, im telling you that the 903 euro firmware is the only way to go, and beware... i had the 903 Beta Unlock (testmode) and i can asure you that it is different from the actual version of the Jap firmware, i was suprised when i used it the other day. I might flash into SX833 again as i have a customer that wants to know if it can read and type Chinese???? so i guess i will have to find out the hard way. C ya

Hi Neal. I hope you have not taken your AACs(M4a) from iTunes. They might be copy protected. Try convert them into M4a(FAAC CLI) using dbPoweramp or try to get your AACs from other sources like the P2P networks.

with the firmwares the UK Version is like a Democracy and the Jap version being a Dictatorship, They lock everything up and force you into using there Vodafone Live to only download their content and use it with the phone, with the 903 euro, it is fully unlocked and you can do whatever you want, with the 903 euro you and your 903 are FREE!!! if you know what i meen. Thats why i recomend the 903 Euro firmware on the phones.

Hey mate, i have used the HK version, its called Sharp SX833, it is ok but they have locked setting a MP3 as a ringtone and it has a ugly red interface, seriously i have used all the versions and i will say this till i am blue in the face, UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK UK,
KsHiNN: yeah after a flash on the phone it is a pain settiing it up again, it's quite funny, you can have a mixed up version of software cos after flashing on a Sharp 903 it needs a master reset, when getting to the master reset part in the menu it is all in half Jap and Half english, i had a muck around with this but i dont know if it could stuff the phone??? also, do you know about that new IMEI lock from Vodafone Japan?? i think it's a load of rubbish, they say that all phone made after 31/10/05 is locked to original firmware only until new firmware release, wellmy phone is the dec 05 version and i had no problem flashing into the 3 diff versions of the 903, so does anyone know what that lock is all about??? Thanks for all your help.. Timmy

Hi, yes a dealer, i dont advertise that cos people just snob me, I have been working in Cellular Communications for only 3 years. our shop has been going for 4 1/2. for a moment there after i had flashed my phone back to UK i thought is was a big paper weight, It would not turn on, My flashing had worn the battery right out, poor phone, it has had all 3 firmwares on it today, i have only had it for 1 day, it's in for the long haul i guess hehehehe, Good luck reno!!!

You know Timmy? I really am wondering what are you on mobile phones. Are you a mobile phone dealer? But I'm impressed of what you are doing on this forum. You've been a very consistent provider of useful info for everyone regarding this phone. Cheers to you!

Hi Mark, please let me convince you that 903 UK version is BY FAR the best as i have used the Test Mode Jap and UK and today i put my money where my mouth is and i flashed my 903 into a Jap Firmware, 1 thing, i only recomend this firmware if you are 1) Japanese ( or can read jap cos some things in the menu are stil in Jap) and living in Japan or 2) if you just want to screw up your phone, After i flashed my phone to Jap, when ever i go into the Menu or Msg the phone says that it must be re-provisioned by the Vodafone Japan network (do you think that my phone on Vodafone NZ could find Vodafone Japan???? (no) so there fore the phone says update faild, but it still trys to do this every time i click the menu button. 2 for some reason parts of the menu is still in Jap wrighting even tho the phone is set into Jap, 3) converting your music into MP4 is a pain and just simply puting a MP3 on is common sense (UK or SX833 ver only) TXTing on the Jap version if u wright in English......
