    @skater(its been a while)

i got the jap version as well and was planning to flash it to UK version coz ive read from some posts that the uk version is the best one. but it seems that u are satisfied with the jap version. now im confused whether i should switch to UK version or stick with the jap version. can you recommend the best firmware for me? all i need is to be able to listen to music with it easily and watch full videos and i wouldnt want to have operator logo as well.

i've read all your posts with 802 and it helped me a lot. i hope you can help me with this as well.
    tnx

Though 903 supports 3gpp, you can never have a clear video from a Nokia Multimedia Converter even you use a phone with the highest resolution like 903. But if you can have these converter programs in whatever ways or means, you can enjoy this phone to the fullest.
1>DVD Decrypter or WinAVI-to convert MPEG to AVI;-
2>FlaskMPEG-to convert those AVIs and prepare them for
3>Mediastage AV100- to convert those flaskout.avi files to MPEG4(.asf) for playback on 903.
4>You'll need G.726 and ffdshow codecs downloaded on your computer as well.
These programs are guaranteed to work and though it's very tricky you will be amazed by the results. I don't know if there are some people out there who have other better ideas but for me these programs make my phone excel from others'.

See eBay UK>Sharp 903. The package is there waiting for you with all the bits and pieces put together by commanderspike.

You can enjoy Madonna in pink, the sexy Pussycat Dolls, and The Legend of Zorro and many others. Good luck!

please... no more argue about the firmware...
The most important thing is we all are the SHARP 903SH OWNER, and we really proud of it. There is no other mobile phones can beat 903.
          That's it..

            Well...

I don't really care what version as long as I can listen to music, take excellent pictures and use my phone ... as a phone.
I think Nokia has much better implementation of firmware but no one gets near the quality of a SHARP.
Everything about SHARP phones is just so advanced. The camera is amazing, the phones are solid and cleverly designed.

            Only drawback:

The lens could do with a lens cover as on the S700SE or K750SE.

            cheers,

I do agree with you Reno, i have used all 3 versions of the Sharp 903 and i found the UK ver to be the best. On my new 903 i am using Sharp SX833 At the moment, i dont like it as much as the Euro, it has no vodafone branding on it, also you cant assign MP3 for ringtone, I quite like the Vodafone UK version, I gess i will just flash back to UK tomorrow at work, C YA!!

                Hi all.

The UK version supports MP3 and MP4 as ringtone but only up to 3MB(for a sensible reason).
It doesn't have SD Audio recording but we can easily move our recorded sounds to the SD card.
It doesn't have an in-built Answering Machine but Vodafone UK has a very good Voice mail service. It'll keep on reminding you of all your missed calls.
Operator Logo could be changed to any picture we like and if you put all your saved photos in a folder, you don't have power on/power off graphics anymore until you assign one from the same folder.

Sharp and Vodafone has created versions of 903 that they think would suit best for the people who would use it. Japanese are good in inventing things but people in Europe in general know how to find ways to make their lives much easier. UK, or Ireland is a very tranquil place you won't need a very loud ringtone as in a very noisy and busy Japan and HK.

yo Skater42, im Timmy, not Jimmy and i dont liket he Nokia N90, you can brag all you want about your jap version of the 903 but it aint as good as the Euro. no need to convert the MP3 files into MP4, why do u need to turn off the vodafone banner?? whats so good about that? no there aint SD voice recording but who cares!! i had the Jap version and it sux!! Best of luck,,, Timmy

                    To Jimmy,

settle down, it's not like you saved a soul here...jeez. Haven't you got better things to do than converting people to sharp?!?

The 903 UK/EU version sounds good, but I like my Japanese version much better.
                    There are minor differences like:

                    - Themes
                    - MP4 ringtone support
                    - SD-Sound Recording (903 UK?)
                    - Inbuilt Answering Machine
                    - Operator Logo OFF

The downside is that you cannot play regular MP3's, but this is not problem since I am using iTunes anyways.
The AAC/MP4 ringtones can be ANY size, as long as they fit into the internal memory.

I haven't got an optical cable yet to try the SD-AUDIO recording, but this should prove tricky since accessories are rare.

Operator Logo can be set to "OFF" which is great! No more Vodafone AU disturbing the wallpaper.
                    Inbuilt answering machine is great!

I'm very happy with this phone and highly recommend it...

But if you're in love with a N90 then so be it LOL ;)

                          Hi Jon.

I enjoy the Larry Sexy Pinball as u dont have to use a lot of button pushing. And the higher your score goes you strip off the clothes of the lady in the middle of the screen. I also have the Sharapova tennis. I don't download games that I can't play all the time as they just consume space in my phone's memory. When I get bored of them I just change them. Im happy that you are getting used to ur 903 now. All the best

WOW, thanks Reno, i think that you and KsHiNN are awesome too. Flashing of Mobile Phones is fun, i have Machine for Nokia, Samsung, Ericsson and new Sony Ericsson, Sharp 3G, LG, Alcatel and NEC. I really want the one for Motorola V3 as i get a few of them in. It's really easy, you just gotta spend a bit on the machine and then youve got it forever and access to the support site. You can Flash the Sharp 903 into 3 diff versions and same with the Sharp 703, it's fun, I recomend that if you get a chance to have a play with flashing. I have used all 3 Versions of the 903 (SX833/903SH/903) and 903 (euro) is by far the best. C YA!! Timmy

To Jon just to add some more...

I assume that you have a way of acquiring MP3 and know how to manage them on your computer. If u hev a P2P network program like Kazaa(which I am a lifetime member)or Limewire u should be able to download MP3s and "free to use" programs like audio editors and converters. When you edit an MP3,(by MP3 Power Editor) though they appear to be MP3 you should reconvert them into MP3(Lame) using dbPoweramp as 903 would not play them though your computer can. By then you can move the MP3 file to the phone memory using either BT or IrDA. Or by faster card reader. Once the file is on the Mini SD already, you hev to move it to the phone memory to be able to set it as ringtone. Moving files are done on the "Advanced" option.(Highlight MP3 song>>Option>>Advanced>>Move>>Phone memory tab with the red arrow "move here". and that's it. I hope that'll help you.

Mp3s can be set as ringtones as long as they are between 2.5MB-3MB. Most of MP3 songs are above that size but there are programs which can cut the lenght of MP3 like MP3 Power Editor and you can amplify the sound as well. The phone ringtone can last up to 2 minutes before it's cut off. Sharp probably didn't make 903 to support unlimited lenght of MP3 as ringtone as who would wait that long to answer a phone ringing? Unless it is your intention to let your favorite song be heard by everybody and anoy them. It's easy Jon if you could just spend some time to experiment. I change my ringtone very often and I never missed a call even on a noisy place. I put the vibration on too to make it sure. As for games I was about to buy from ebay when KShin posted that website for free games. Just open the website(URL) on your phone's browser and once you're there just click and download whatever games you like. I tried on my computer first to select which one is good to keep as there are so many. You will just pay your SP for the time of browsing on your phone. You cannot transfer the game from the computer to phone. You must download it by WAP on your phone's browser. The games are free and are not too bad. Good luck Jon

like a said in the past sharp 903 is far one of the best phones of its time. the only drawbacks for me who i got mine from vodafone uk is that i cant use a song as a ringtone because i can only set preset sounds, i cannot get a game on the phone without paying £5 to download it from vodafone, there are no themes, and the volume of the phone is not that great.is there a solution to this????????????is there anyone who knows how?? any help would be appriciated
