Just curious...Why you people still buy the Jap version when it is already very clear that it's got soooooooooo many problems as mentioned many many times in this forum?

    903 don't come with a USB(data)cable. Even if it does I wouldn't use it as it takes ages in transfering big volume of files from computer to phone and vice-versa. You can use bluetooth and/or IRDA for file transfers but they are slow as well. The fastest way I know is the usb card reader/writers. They are cheap and does not impose any burden on your computer's memory unlike data cables that you have to install their software.

        What's the difference between beta unlocking and factory unlocking of Sharp 903, does it have anything to do with not being able to download java games or mp3s? importgsm.com sells an Asian version with European software that is beta unlocked not factory unlocked. What does that mean exactly? Does that mean the manual is English or Asian. Is it "fully unlocked"?

          Does Sharp 903 come with USB cable or any way to connect to a computer? If not, is there a special cable that's needed for this Sharp model or does any USB cable work?

            vodafone is an english company and yet websites selling the phone claim that they're japanese versions with European software or something strange like that. what's going on?? in pictures, I see asian characters on the buttons and asian writing on manuals, huh??? vodafone has over 100 million users, may be the biggest cellcarrier in the world and is a UK company, and they can't even get english on their phones or in the manuals, why even make them available at all outside japan then? what language is used on all the materials in the box? and is it true USB cable isn't included?? that and the nonstandard plug with the terrible earphones, those 2 things alone may be reason enough not to consider the 903, sharp is clearly screwing with their customers.

              Hi, You can have unlimited video depending on memory card size as it dosnt save it to the phone it'self, Also you cant transfer games, well i cant, i have the euro version. Dont get jap or SX833 if you don't live in asia as they dont work to their full extent on an euro network that suports this phone as Sharp 903 insted of Vodafone 903SH (jap) or Sharp SX833 (Chinese)

                    Here is how u can use mp3 as a ringtone for sharp 903SH.

                    First, get a DRM protected song( http://forums.mobileburn.com/attachment.php?s=a35daeb3378b4281f992c36aab32eb8c&attachmentid=1216&d=1130505897) and place it in your phone memory

                    convert the song you wish to use to the same extension as the DRM file (in this example I use .m4a)

                    place the song that you wish to use in the phone memory too

                    here's the important part:

                    set the DRM protected file as your ringtone (I've attached a DRM file for you to use)
                    e.g IMA.m4a -> set as ringtone

                    after doing this, rename it to something else
                    e,g IMA.m4a -> rename -> test.m4a

                    then finally, rename the file that you wish to use as the DRM protected file

                    e.g xxx.m4a ->rename -> IMA.m4a

                    Do not do anything after this, your desired ringtone should play.

                    any questions, let me know

                        Andrewreid said: "In Japan Panasonic and Sharp use the term SD_Video to describe their own special format of MPEG4 video for use on portable media devices such as:
                        Panasonic D-Snap Camcorder
                        Panasonic GS50 Mini DV Camcorder
                        Various SD card supporting portable media players, and
                        Sharp 903 CDMA 3G Mobile phones".
                        The guy really worked very hard for this tricky thing and I appreciate there's one like him otherwise 903 would just be like a simple brick of a phone and not this very sophisticated one that only few people could enjoy. He deserves the credit.

                          903SH as far as I know would only read or play a .ASF video files converted by Panasonic Mediastage for AV100(updated version for the Panasonic Moviestage used by 902). And Panasonic Mediastage can only accept converted AVIs from FlaskMPEG. Even at times they are converted by FlaskMPEG the Mediastage don't accept them. FlaskMPEG have a definite settings of MPEG4(video and audio configuration). Even MPEG4 has 2 settings...Low motion and Fast motion. In converted DVD(VOB files) sometimes they differ in settings of conversion. I tell u its a very tricky and long process but when you got it going, it plays full screen on landscape without any logo on it. You can even read subtitiles on it. There are very few audio and video lapses but much much less than the one of Nokia Multimedia converter. If you want an easy life, try buy the software from commanderspike on ebayUK a.k.a. andrewreid@f2s.com. He'll send you a cd with all the instructions. It's not cheap but it really works and enjoying. Well, Timmy spent a good amount of money just to change the software. I'm sure he'll spend more just to enjoy the phone fully.

                              To Hai.
                              I'm not sure of your DVD to WMV to AVI if its going to do the job. But anyway;
                              Insert the DVD disc onto the drive(E:) then run your decrypter. it will produce VOB files into your computer's hard drive(u have to choose which folder they should go to). There will be at least 4, maybe 5 VOB main files. Usually their size would be nearly 1GB each. Then convert them to avi using ur WMV to AVI program. If you only have the FlaskMPEG its much easier. Once you got them converted to avi, convert them further using the panasonic media stage by drag and drop. IF U R lucky the mediastage should accept it otherwise it will just stop and show an error. If it stops, go back and change its settings to video size=720X576, fps=25, audio, 48000Hz. After the file has been successfully converted by mediastage, change the filename to MOL001, MOL002, MOL003 and so on. You should be able to track your files where are they should be found on your computer. Now, on your SD card, inserted on your card reader, make a new folder SD_Video and inside that folder make another folder PRL001 where you should copy those converted files. If you see those files(MOL001 etc.) on your SD_Video on the Entertainment option on ur phone, it might be a success but still there's a chanve that even it is there it wouldn't work. If you only have the flaskMPEG, maybe I can give you more chances of good results.

                                      I have this phone now and I'm blown away by the camera! It's just so good!

                                      The 903SH does have "Themes", though maybe not customizable, but you can choose from 3 menu types... And I couldn't care less.
                                      Sure, I'd love a Linux or Mac style menu, but it's not essential. All I want is a bug-free firmware!

                                      The speaker could be a tiny bit louder, and well, I'm using the JAP version so it's a bit buggy for me.

                                      Other than that...thumbs up!
