The UK version plays MP3 and sounds best with accompanied stereo headset. For me its better than many MP3 players.

The UK version is locked to voda network. It could be unlocked though and could be used anywhere with any simcard as any other phones. It could be unlocked remotely on the internet or to any vodafone stores

I pity those who have the Jap version. And I really wonder why Sharp is torturing you people. The UK version don't have all those problems-even that contact list jumping issue. Just enter 1 letter and there's the contact u r looking 4. My phone can play AAC format but why convert to such when MP3 is just fine. It's just easy when u got an MP4 from somewhere and it just play. No ? seen. Whenever I read a complain or bad comment about this phone, I look at my 903 and tell...well, u don't have those things do u?

By the way the post before this was mine i just forgot to put my name on it. To gain acccess to the Data Folder you must re flash the firmware.

To whoever said that the JAP Version can play AAC, you are wrong, the file just comes up with a little ? icon and when you try to play it, it says "cannot play" you have to convert them to MP4.

ALSO, to those people that are having probs with the phone book not letting you jump through your contacts by using the first letter (EG W for William) you have to check that your contacts are entered corectly, because when you coppy from sim or bluetooth it sets all the names under "last name" you have to change it to "first name" and also enter their name under "reading" AND, when you want to jump through you have to change it into Caps because if you don't it will go to your last contact. I am not sure what other versions are like but this is how it is with my JAP version.

ALSO; all those people coming from Sony Ericsson phones (understandable the SHARP 903 is soo COOL) you can't send all contacts via bluetooth, this feature was designd to work to a SE from a SE. Don't go blaming it on the Sharp!!!!!

To all those people thinking about buying one of these.. DO!!!

Jangstar. About its features, it's worth it as long as it's UK version. Very easy to use. The only thing you might dislike it is its size. They say it's big. Wait till SE W900 and N91 come. By then nobody can say 903 is big. I had a video transfer from a SE K750i.Very fast and no hassles of pairing needed. I don't think there would be any prob to a computer as well. I hope you could see Pussycat Dolls' Don't Cha video on my phone. It's awesome. I mean the video quality and not the sexy Pussycat Dolls

To Jangstar. It depends what version you are going to buy. I heard a lot of problems with Japanese version. Consider going to a dealer and have a demo. Just make sure to turn the volume to level 5 as new ones are preset at level 3 and they sound soft. About its features it has all the others' but it also has some that others don't...like the 3.2 MP camera, surrond sound, and what phone today can play dvd quality videos in full screen? 902 can but not without too many sound clicks(they said) and it is also a sharp phone. Bluetooth connection??? Well, it is the least thing I would expect anybody would ask about. Even if you'll have problems with bluetooth, you still have card reader/writer, IRDA, and data cables as alternatives. There's only one thing I might hope u might get disappointed with...its size. It's quite bigger than the rest. But wait till the SE W900 and N91 come. By then nobody would say this 903 is so big. You would know the reason why it is big when you have it. The bottom line...if it is UK version...it's worth it!!!I hope you could see the Pussycat Dolls' Don't cha video on my phone. It's awesome. I mean the phone's video quality...not Pussycat Dolls.

Alex: You got it all wrong, 903 and 703 can't be fully unlocked YET!! But it's coming. 902 and 802 are fully unlocked now and have been for ages.

To Hai: How did you get your 903?? it seems that you have encounted one of their bugs!! Once the phone has had a master reset the phone will not allow access to the data folder.

                      Hi. It's me again.
I also got a problem with all of 3 phones that I can not send and receive files via buetooth or infrared. I can not search for device, but when I use my SE P910i, I can search for 903SH bluetooth. However, when I try to send a picture from p910 to 903SH, from the 903SH it ask for authorisation code. I try 9999 but it seems doesn't work. Also from my P910i, it say I need to enter passed code in order to pass on the 903SH??? what is this meannn??? Anyone have advices?? thank you.

                      Have a nice day.

For those using Japanese version, only AAC can be use not MP3. As for ringtone, can only accept mmf with 300k file size. You can use a converter to convert MP3 to AAC. Not much difference in quality. As for mmf, you need to convert MP3 to Wave and then use a wave/mmf converter to select the portion of the song that you want as ringtone and convert it from wave to mmf. The converted mmf files must be in the phone memory to be able to set as ringtones.

As for setting 3gp video as ringtone, it is possible but only in QCIF resolution and not QVGA. Also the 3gp video file must be in the phone memory and not the SD card memory. No limitation to the file size as long as your phone has the memory available. MP4 files can also be converted to 3gp using the Imtoo 3gp converter.

Anyone that needs advise with their japanese version can let me know as I have become quite an expert on it.... : )

To Carrie. There are at least 3 easy ways to do that but you have to spend few £s. You'll need a 1)card reader/writer; or 2)infrared adaptor; or 3)bluetooth adaptor for the computer. Some laptops have SD card reader/writer built-in. Card reader is the simplest and easiest way. You only have to move/copy your pics from phone memory to memory card, then with the card reader connected to your computer, insert the mem card from ur phone, then open My Computer-->Local C: drive, then click the(removable) drive of the card reader which should be F: of G: Clicking this drive will show all your data on the card memory and u can just move/copy them to wherever u like to your computer's folders. The IR and BT way more complicated and time consuming.

Yes, both the 903 and the 703 are fully unlocked with no bugs, and all features can be used including MMS & GPRS/WAP. Unlike the 902 & 802 which it still cant be done.

                                      To Reno,
Thanks. Why 903 can't set MP3 (more than 3MB) as ringtones? Or SHARP think that it is not necessary coz no one will have such long ringing? but most of the MP3 file size are more than 3MB. It is very inconvenience if we need to use software to trim the MP3 song less than 3MB.

To coolgirl and invisible boi. If u have transferred ur MP3s fr computer to SD card via card reader/writer, u have to move or copy the files fr SD to phone memory for you to set them as ringtone. Yes unfortunately, it has something to do with file size. My ringtone is only 2.5MB and rings for 2 mins. I even tried to set a 3MB mp3 but it was rejected. If u really want ur favorite mp3 as ringtone u can shop for an editing software (like mobile phone tools by motorola E1000) which can cut the song to ur desired size with fade-out. Or try timmy's idea. He said 'piece of cake' for a lot of effort but if u really want to enjoy ur phone that is what we should do. Or simply find an MP3 which is smaller than 3MB.
