Hi fellas,
It's my first time here at the forum, I have question in your own guesstimation when do you think the 904SH will be unlocked?
I purchased 2 from ebay few weeks ago. I bought a Black 904SH first, then I thought the Blue 904SH was more attractive so I bought one as well.
I simply cannot wait until the day I'm able to finally use them! I must admit before I came across the 904SH I was just a casual mobile consumer.
Now, with two Sharp 904SH's on hand waiting to be unleashed, I may never go back using inferior phones. Except on a occasion where I'm going camping etc where the phone might get soaking wet or dropped, only then I'll use a cellphone (*cough-RAZR*cough) that I care less about.
Anyways, while I'm waiting for the 904SH's to get unlocked I'm in the market for a White 903SH my question which Firmware is the best to have for the 903SH?
Thanks in advance for the replies!!!
genkidenne!!!

Hi DeathGun
If you are wanting a very simple answer....NO
There will be an unlock for this phone, They have made some progress with Beta unlocks but as we all know.. there was some MASSIVE faults and it wasnt really good enough as the phone turned off after 20secs in a phone call, no SMS and the phone would randomly restart but it was UNLOCKED!!!
All they need to is iron out the bugs and then were all set to go.
If you people havnt heard but Zuela has given up his USB-Smart tool after 9 years. There is some rumours that 904SH and K800i (DB2020) has gotten the better of him but who knows... how about we bully him and then he will come back and show us all fools with this awesome unlock!!
Thanks Tim

Last time I checked, forums were a place to exchange opinions and help where possible.
I have owned a GX20, GX30, 802SH, and 903SH and can say that I happily will stick with SHARP. Can you see that I like these phones...?
The "unknown" probably doesn't even own a SHARP model...so much for the fake.
I'm fake...as in what? Nothing I post is fake. Maybe you should choose your words more carefully.
YOU are offending ME and maybe others by posting PERSONAL messages. I refrain in most cases from posting anything that could be taken personal as I'm not talking about the person and try to justify my views on where others might be wrong.
I know the phones and have mostly used them with the exception of the 904SH. I refer to Timmy for most of the features as we also chat outside of GSMARENA.
I have also used many of the Vodafone Carriers and know few Vodafone-Tech's in Australia to be able to talk about Network's.
I speak from experience in the GX and V-Series phones and have used and played with all available V-Series outside of Japan.
Calling me fake is the dumbest thing you could offer... good on ya mate.

I'm getting sick of people complaining about why I post so much on these forums. Everyone that is excited about SHARP phones, or phone technology in general, will be happy to have a discussion about this awesome technology.
At the end of the day I don't mean to offend anyone and as far as I know all advice is taken in good manners.
Thanks to Timmy & Sketch and the rest of the guys who really do care and even when it gets a bit heated...who cares.
We all love our SHARP phones ;)

==========
That the 904SH is better than the 903SH is obvious. Clearly. No one would ever argue this matter. The 904SH is a next generation phone, a flag-ship of SHARP. Just like the GX20 and 903SH were for their screens and cameras.
Because the 904SH IS such an advanced phone, it is not right to compare it to the 903SH. The 903SH was just as much European as it was Japanese and Chinese. Vodafone KK, Smartone and Vodafone Group all chipped in for the 703/903SH series, during the time period all networks were on roughly the same level. You don't just gamble and simply release a phone to see what happens. But nonetheless Vodafone's expectations were not met, not even close.
Vodafone KK (SOFTBANK) and Vodafone Group have now gone separate directions where it won't be as easy to merge such technologies. There's really no point in releasing a FeliCA phone in the EU market, unless it is cut back to its basic features.
It's sad that SHARP is withdrawing it's ultra-tech devices from the EU market, but if the markets not strong than its a fair enough reason. And if our networks are not going the same way as the Japanese, we are again distancing ourselves from their technology. We were close... but no one wanted it.

@Har
Ah.. wrong. 903 was mainly for japan. They just saw an oppurtunity for the euro market. just like the 902. but it was too expensive so no one bought it.
Besides, major features aside, the 904sh is a much better phone the 903. The user interface is much friendlier and customizable than the 903 will ever be. I'm not gonna expound on this coz it doesn't matter anyways.
And plus, you need to get your info from somewhere else coz timmy isn't exactly the best source for info.

SHARP Interview
================
I read this interview with the SHARP developers on mobileburn.com, and the reason why the 904SH wasn't released in Europe was simply demand:
Not enough people care.
And they are right, Europeans and rest of the Western World simply want their cute and cuddly handsets. And it's Vodafone's fault by making the 903SH and 902SH so damn expensive...
The only reason I bought from ebay was the price, otherwise I would have been happy to become a statistic.
Oh well... the way it goes I guess.

@ Sketch,
Your comparison wasn't quite right though.
The 903SH was developed as a Japanese AND EUROPEAN version. So it naturally came with T9 and editable WAP settings. It didn't need any mods to the firmware...
Was the Japanese firmware crap, YES...but we still had the EU version available. The 903SH JP also didn't have a firmware-upgrade facility on the phone itself (just being picky...)
The 904SH is developed as JP only. It doesn't have an EU equivalent and hence wouldn't need to have editable WAP settings or T9. Whether the GPS can be usable... who knows until you try. But the firmware will require mods for the rest to work, and I'm relying on what Timmy's told me about the firmware.
But really, the 903SH and 904SH were developed for different markets, so can't just simply bounce your conclusions of the 903SH.

And sorry, i forgot to write my name on that last post.
And to add, no one's sure when the unlock will come out. So if you don't have a long string of patience and some extra cash lying around, don't buy it. This phone is not for peasants.
Kthx.

those things have yet to be proven true.. some people from other countries have gotten the GPS system to work in Toshiba 904Ts and i don't see why it won't work on the 904sh since it basically uses the same system. The GPRS solely depends on the unlock developers if they wanna edit the firmware to put the the network settings in. Seriously, i think you guys should do more research before you guys go spouting out some things that you aren't even sure about
Seriously, how about we compare the 904sh to the japanese 903sh. that'd be more fair just so we can point out how much of a crap phone the 903sh was when it first came out.
Japanese 903sh
- can't use GPRS/3G
- can't send MMS/e-mail
- can't use Firmware Upgrade
- can't use T9/predictive text
and as you say, the 904sh
- can't use GPS
- can't use FeliCA
- can't use NAVI
- can't use GPRS/3G
- can't send MMS/e-mail
- can't use Firmware Upgrade
- can't use T9/predictive text
Oh look at that.. the japanese 903sh is just worth as crap as the 904sh.. but look at it now, it can use T9 and gprs because of firmware edits and stuff. I don't see why developers will not wanna do this for the 904sh.
And no one's asking you guys to buy the 904 anyways. At the end of the day, no one really cares if you like the 904sh or not.
I rest my case.

========
The 904SH is not a 903SH. Apparently you cannot modify the Internet Settings as where with the 903SH you can... so it doesn't matter where you live.
All these "arguments" are not about who is right or wrong, it's simply about what this phone can/will do.
I believe Timmy that there will be an unlock. But an unlock does not mean you can use all features of this little beauty.
Timmy has different needs to what I have, and I would not buy a phone for it's sheer beauty (any longer). At the end of the day I still admire the 904SH and if I'd have the money to just buy a locked version I would.
