I got mine in Lazada PH, so far I haven't encounter any issue especially the dead touch screen issue. It is 2nd hand phone Docomo brand so scratches in screen is present but it doesn't bother me because of the tempered glass, runs at Android 12 and still not repaired so the water and dust resistant feature is still there, and the battery is still long lasting. 😀

thks anon and facts, 23 Jul 2023thank you guys, your opinion really help me in my business ... moreYou’re welcome! As far as updates go, usually with a newer version of Kernel, there are also updates to drivers and firmware for various chips and sensors. It might be a result of that. The Carriers do provide information regarding updates like for Docomo, the only update that mentions screen touch issues is this one:

              April 2020, 9
              ■Type
              Quality Improvement
              ■Events to be improved
We will add functions such as video recording in HDR mode and slow video mode, and improve the image quality of photos and videos.
During Wi-Fi tethering, tethering may suddenly turn off and communication may not be possible from the handset.
The touch panel may work unintentionally.
Security Update (The security patch level in the settings menu will be April 2020.) )

              Few suggestions:
              - try to find the release notes for an update and follow the instructions
              - it is recommended to backup data and factory reset the phone both before and after an Android (major) version update
              - if the touchscreen doesn’t work after an update, try using the OTG dongle to attach a usb mouse and try updating the phone to the next available security/patch update for the Android version (for these updates, there is no need for a reset)

thank you guys, your opinion really help me in my business

first now i understand why japanese phone have low volume ( i thought it's speaker issue ,but it's japanese culture, that work fine in japan, but in other countries low volume in huge noise is problem)

2nd now i understand why cameras have dust , because they are repair by 3rd person in some questionable environment.

3rd now i understand why so many phones are being smuggled here because they are auctioned and people buy them in bulk

so, I'll avoid them in future and if needed buy them officially from some trusted platform.

but,one thing that i disagree is that
"there display has a issues" I can't blame aquos because so many people are involved but still something is wrong in this Because the display issue only occur after update if you don't update the device , display work fine .

only this point i disagree, everything else I'm so thankful you clear so many doubt.

Final argument., 17 Jul 2023Some Mobile dealers import these phone from japan ,they pay... morewell, that's legal on your side but i'm afraid that's pretty much still an unknown source for the japanese phones.

what i'm saying is if you bought the phone brand new with warranty, officially in taiwan or japan, and then the phone have issues, then we would have clearer discussions whether the phone is really faulty or not. with current situation there are still too many variables eligible for consideration for the cause of the issues before we could single out this is sharp fault.this phones have been in the wild for 3 years, if it's really a faulty phone that would be a big commotion in japan, sharp still hold pretty big market share in japan for android

i know for a fact,if you're tourist you couldn't buy a brand new japanese phone on docomo shop, they would refuse to sell it to you and they would refer you to some electronic shop to buy the phones there.i'm not sure about current market but it was the case in 2014.that's why on ebay there are only few japanese sellers able to offer an unlocked brand new japanese phones because some of them are docomo/softbank employee or they have connection within the network companies so they could get the phone legally unlock otherwise most of the japanese phones are locked with the carrier, that's how much protective the japanese network companies are

before you put the blame on sharp maybe you want to discuss it first with your local shop where you bought that phone. in australia, it's required by law for a shop which selling an used electronics to provide some kind of after sales services, hence in australia if you bought an used/refurbished/new old stock phones, etc in local shop, they would provide you 3-12 months warranty and most of them provide 30 days returns guarantee

Final argument., 17 Jul 2023Some Mobile dealers import these phone from japan ,they pay... moreSince the point gets repeated often that the volume is too low, will try to address it first. The phones are tailored for mainly Japanese customers though they might get released in other countries as well (on a side note, they are not usually Made in Japan though like Sharp is now a subsidiary of Foxconn Group). It is considered rude to take a call in public. Loud ringtones would be considered obnoxious. That is why there is usually the option of "Manner Mode".

As for the used phones, it shouldn't come as a surprise that after 2 years customers in a contract would like to get the newer model especially business customers. The phones returned might then be auctioned off in as is condition. Each model also has a Carrier repair acceptance date expiry for users continuing to use phones and are protected by that. The third party sellers would (like any business) try to maximise profits by harvesting several broken phones for parts to make one working phone. It is this type of repair that might compromise on quality. Like, if you see iphone dead touch repair videos by Northridgefix, you would come to know how easy it is for anybody to mess up tiny smd components while removing/attaching flex cables. A new display assembly doesn't matter in this case. Similarly, shoddy broken camera glass repair in dusty environment would definitely lead to particles getting stuck underneath (there is also antireflective coating that people sometimes mess up using harsh chemicals to clean the lens) etc...

At the end, it comes down to the fact that the person buying such phone is aware that there is no warranty for it to keep working as soon as the person walks out the shop like any other such gadget with check warranty. Only spend what you can afford to lose.

Fortunately, companies like Daraz have started offering the "As Good as New" or refurbished items with 6 months warranty though this claim cannot be verified as haven't used this service personally.

                        Goodbye and Goodluck!

Facts, 16 Jul 2023The claim that the display for this phone has an inherent f... moreSome Mobile dealers import these phone from japan ,they pay all taxes , custom duties ,then after Govt release those shipment they get these devices .now I don't know what's going in japan how 1000 of carrier devices are being sold to other countries.
you'll not believe but in some countries there are more than 250000 japanese carrier locked phones imported.

now I'm not saying only aquos display is faulty ,most of imported phones have shade in their screen (& they are sold at lower price)
pike some sony xperia devices have pink display shade.
some google pixel devices have half screen shaded.

in this way these faulty phones are being sold to customer at very high price because they have decent specs (high end soc)

the results are that the customer pay full price and after using the device for 2 or 3 week these issue start appearing

                          °display is shaded
°speaker volume is so low that you have to put phone to the ear sometimes.
                          °heat up
°dust in cameras , blurry cameras

these are real problems ,but the problem in aquos device is that the display stop working at the exact same point in each device(top left and bottom right) , that's why I'm saying that aquos is doing some shady business here.

as a customer legally bought mean i paid full price to the shop keeper ,along with all taxes ,and custom duties,so , I should have a clear device ,if not the whole chain of supply is responsible along with the company.

i don't know who is the biggest culprit in these shady bussing but customer are suffering.

this is my final argument, I will come back to read yours, then I'm gone ,bye.

                          somebody someday will confirm it.

maybe you still don't believe but okay .

Anonymous, 16 Jul 2023i'm not saying there is zero problem with current issu... moreThe claim that the display for this phone has an inherent flaw can only be verified by aggregating the repair data from the Carriers who provided this phone to its customers under a contract period (of 2 years usually) in their market. The Carriers are the customers of Sharp in this case and would have likely taken action if there was a statistical anomaly for faulty display repair claims.

The data samples that you have access to are likely used phones disposed off after contract expiry. Who know how were these phones handled and under what conditions. The display replacement source is also third party sellers with the repair shop being a third party as well not having access to any service and repair guides.

As for the reasons, the most likely issue is stress on the flex cable including physical, temperature related and water related stress. The Synaptics S3708 touch sensor might be involved. As for precautions:
                            - avoid moisture (even though phones were launched with protection, assume no protection)
                            - avoid dropping the phone (the flex cables are likely around the assistant/camera/shutter button)
                            - use a good quality 1A max charger (sign of poor quality chargers and bad electricity is that when charging a laptop, one is unable to use the touchpad with the cursor flying around on its own)
                            - use good quality powerbank and limit to 1A again
                            - don't charge and use the phone at the same time
                            - try to keep the temperature low when playing a game or when cpu and gpu are stressed
                            - when replacing the display, take extreme care of the flex cable and wear ESD protection (avoid touching the Synaptics chip and do not use metal tools to handle the flex cables)
                            - when using a cover, note that the battery expands in old age and phones are designed with a thin back cover to allow such expansion. So, the cover must also allow that

                            Good luck!
