I put the phone outside, press ok, then wait a few minutes and press ok again and it refinds and displays the new data. walk with the phone a bit and repress get data ok, and it will show the new data.

Evansville, IN U.S.A on AT&T/Cingular network.

I typically get 5-7days out of the battery.
I have no internet and use 5000txt a month about 500mins a month and use the lamp all the time.

This is the only phone i can get to hold up. Will buy again, excellent reception.

Got one replaced after one month (turned off randomly), second phone started to make very poor and crackling sound after four months. This IS too much problems for almost 350Eur phone.

By the way, looks like Sonim aftersale support is only to replace defective phones. No firmware upgrades, most questions answered by now almost standard sentence: "we will fix this in the next phone version". Too bad, but true.

I've had this phone for about 3 months. So far it has shown to be a really tough and reliable one. Mechanically, it is superbly made. The software could definitely use some improvement. Several times, when I was using some Java apps (two different ICQ apps), the phone had frozen so bad that I couldn't even turn it off, had to remove the battery. I've not been using any Java communication apps ever since. No bugs spotted apart from this. Some of the things could be more customizable.
In general, for all the things I use this phone for - call, sms, an occasional photo or voice recording, the functionality is completely adequate. The reliability is great, my friends already tested it's waterproofness (the first time they saw it). Battery life is wonderful as well, I usually charge it as soon as the charge level gets down to 2/4 bars - once around every 6-8 days. That depends on how much I use it, of course.
A tip for all the people who'd been having battery life problems: I've noticed that if I turn the phone off, then plug the charge into it, it will completely charge the battery. When I haven't turned the phone off and charged it while it was on, it showed to be fully charged much more quickly (showing all 4/4 bars), but then the charge would drop back very fast. This might be some bug in the charging software/hardware in the phone or the battery, but whatever it is, charging with the phone turned off seems to work great. Try this if you have problems with battery life.

Changed my ideas about the concept after having returned two Sonim Quests. It was offered as a bundled offer with a Dutch Vodafone flat-rate internet subscription. Originally, I went for the ruggedized concept and long battery-life, together with the internet-driven Amaze GPS-software. But after two brand-new Sonims failed to deliver even the most basic phone functionality (internet connection, and thus GPS-functionality, never worked at all - battery ran out of steam within a few days), my dealer offered me a not-so-rugged, but infinitely more functional HTC Diamond II, which worked fine right out of the box. Maybe I'll give Sonim another try in a couple of years or so, if they've cleaned up their act and provided they're still in business.

I broke my first one in 2 months, and they replaced it no problem. I don't use G.P.S. or bluetooth on my phone, and the battery doesn't last longer than 24 hours. I don't want to replace this phone, but I can't find a way to buy a couple replacement batteries for it anywhere.

well, to start am now experiencing some battery life probs (charging, top up every day) on my second battery. am going to run it down first to reset battery memory and then full recharge, see if that works. secondly very slow reaction on keys to text, times out and screens goes black if you type too fast and finally horrid apps selection, cant complain though at mo. its been abused so many times in my tool bag at home and at work in my fire fighting kit. will deffo purchase the next gen of this model, if sonim listen to there customers ?!?

The Sonim XP3 Quest has nutted out many of the previous Sonim Models Software Issues. It has a camera which has never before featured on previous models. The Sonim is made in Canada and is fully branded as a Canadian Phone, many people think the Sonim is an English phone but this is a common misconception.

I run a mobile phone shop, and every one of these phones that we have sold have had to be replaced at least once, some cases three times. Various failures. Batteries lasting less than a day, displays going blank, buttons not working. These phones are supposed to be as tough as a Land Rover, and with all the faults they are having, they seem to about as reliable as a Land Rover too. The upside is the no quibble 3 yr guarantee, which is fantastic ( and needed )

I've had my quest now for 3 months. There is something wrong with it, as it has started to eat the battery empty within 12 hours. I bought a new battery...still the same problem.
Have to return it to the shop.
