i have my c905 since march, just this april, i woke up and the navigation button broke. then i searched the net, i found that i'm not the only one, some got their speakers broken, some also their keypad,etc... the camera is really nice but it would've been better if they made it for quality. i'm a sony lover but unless you're just wasting ur money i advice you to think 10x before buying. i had my w900i before it lasted for 4 years until someone snatched it from my pocket..but it's better than this when it comes to quality and it's cheaper but i think it's a limited edition phone so it's already not in the market. back to the c905, i sent it to the service center but it was worse, before the problem was just the down nav button won't work, when i open anything then press down, the apps or whatever closes, now the left nav button also broke when i press it before, it brings me to write message, now when i press it it says: "continue playback through speakers?". how frustrating, when i read about this phone in the internet it seemed like it's the best sony phone... but in real life it's the total opposite. so disappointing.

I was about to buy it then I realized here in the US AT&T has it and they REMOVED the WIFI from it. Now you HAVE TO BUY DATA plan no matter what. I find this unethical and disgusting business practice, something Verizon did/do. Then I left verizon but now there is nothing else here in the "land of technology" :))))))

Hello all, for those considering this phone, buyer beware!! I purchased 2 of these one in black, one in silver when they first came out, paid $1195.00 total for both. We were dissapointed with the phone but nonetheless kept them for the great camera. Bought blackberry bold when they came out and just used our c905's for the camera, how is this relevant you might ask, well we used the phones for a total of 2 months before buying the blackberries, i just recently bought to iphone 3GS's and sold both of the sonys, well both of them have to be sent in to repair because one of them the earpiece stopped working you can only hear who your talking to when you put it on speaker. The other stopped scrolling upward, and the option button is not working. I feel like an @ss because the people i sold them to are out of phones now until they come back for repair. This is a shame, the phone had so much potential, and they dropped the ball. I love sony products so im going to have to chalk it up to the "ericsson" for all of the un sony like problems. Never again will i buy se, and i was a 7 year loyal customer, who stood by them despite the downward spiral that has been developing throughout the past 3 years.

I'm a professional photographer and own a range of professional DSLR cameras. This is by far the best cam phone I've ever used, with features which even some digital cams don't have.

A must-buy if u lookin for a great cam. Good audio and great build quality as well.

I have had the 905 for 8 months now. I have hd enough of it. I have owned Sony's for over 6 years and this has got to be the worst phone I have ever had the missfortune of owning!!!
List of faults ( so far )
                    Earpiece blown 3 times.
                    New screen.
                    Lost all info stored.
None of the buttons would work.
                    Would not turn on.
Battery is rubbish when using the gps, It did not even last enough time to navigate my 50 miles from a full charge.
Picture quality in low light is very very poor, and yes I have altered the settings, and it didn't make much difference.
I have now found the perfect use for the c905. It makes a great paperweight!!!!
I got fed up of it and went and got a Nokia n86, which ( fingers crossed ) seems to do everything that the c905 claims to, but 10 times better, and it's cheaper.

....i was kinda disappointed with the "negative" comments about this phone.... but on my own point of view, the phone's durability will depend on the person using it... let's face it, even people are not perfect... so as with mechanical devices... these devices are made to stand time but of course, the user must learn how to handle it CAREFULLY.... i have one of this phone & i've been using it for more than 6months, but I NEVER encountered any problems with it.... i read a comment regarding the camera as to being blurry... sometimes u just have to LEARN how to change the camera's setting. or if u are really into photography, why not grab a camera designed for photography perse... i don't usually make comments like this... i just hope people are open-minded... taking into considerations not just their own perspective about the phone but others as well... anyway.... the posts i've read are from different people... different attitudes... different works... and a lot of indifferences... LEARN TO TAKE CARE< LOVE AND HANDLE YOUR PHONE AS WHAT YOU DO TO YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONES....

This is off topic, but has anyone had major issues trying to cancel their '3' contract when the time has come to do so??

I have one month left, and today rang to cancel and go to O2, i was then subjected to intense aggresive sales pitch by the telesalesperson for 65 minutes insiting i stay with '3' or pass my sontract on to a friend!! OR just atay with them as O2 are rubbish!
I find this totally out of order and wish to know if anyones else has been through this experience? - i was livid by the end of the call, i'm thinking of reporting them to trading standards or offcom.

I had been reading and researching this phone for close to 6 months and finally decided to go for it instead of waiting for the Aino. I had read every complaint, looked up every reported failure, and made sure that I understood exactly what I was getting myself into.

After 1 week, I'm sending it back to be repaired.

I dismissed most people's concerns because I thought that locked handsets presented more problems. Buying an unlocked version, I was sure that the handset wouldn't have nearly as many issues as were being reported on this forum and others.

                                        I was wrong.

To be clear, I loved the phone. I absolutely loved the phone. My girlfriend had just gotten a W995 a few weeks before, so I didn't have a "brand new" honeymoon phase with this handset like I do with most new tech. I've had a Sony Ericsson T300, T610, and K750, so the SE UI wasn't anything new. As usual with SE, it was slow, deliberate, simple, fully functional, and a joy to use...then the issues started creeping in.

First, the number pad was a problem. The "3" button and "#" button were both way too tight. Pressing them offered little to no response, making T9 text input very frustrating. It often resulted in me backspacing to correct my texts because I had put too many or not enough spaces in my messages.

The other issue was the navigation keys. The buttons on the C905 were, in fact, a little too close together for my taste. After playing with the W995 whose buttons were spaced plentifully, the soft keys being so close to the "send" and "end" keys was a little bit of a pain. While on a call, using the right soft keys to access call features resulted in me hanging up on my calls a few times. On top of that, the left soft key was sometimes unresponsive. The first 2 seconds after the left soft key's function changed (usually after changing screens) pressing it resulted in the desired action. But after being on that screen for a moment, the left soft key took a very hard intentional press to activate it.

The battery was disappointing as well. I could get 3 full days of regular use out of my K750 with 1 full charge. I know that the screen is bigger, there are more features, and a better camera, but the C905 offered about 1.5 days of regular use with 1 full charge.

I was willing to live with these issues though. It was until the screen died that I knew that all of the criticism was deserved. I opened the slider, the wallpaper froze, I shut the phone down, and the screen never came back on.

Again, my recommendation on the C905 is that it is SE's best phone to date. I say that because of the features and design (I didn't mind the thickness or weight at all, by the way. I actually preferred it). But with the inconsistency in the build of this phone, it is EXTREMELY hard to recommend it. My advice would be to wait for the Aino (September) or Satio (December).
