        Introuble,

What way do you do it? Have you the normal way to do write an sms - main menu > messaging > write new > text message?

What alternatives does it say when you've clicked "write new" ?

          colnagoguy,

this is my problem, i'm never given a choice of what kind of message to write - it just goes straight into a mms. there are no settings for a norm text message either - just pict messages. it's like the phone isn't configured to send standard text messages.

            Introuble,

The problem is that you are starting to write an mms instead of sms.

Normal way to do write an sms is:
Go to main menu > messaging > write new > text message.

            Shortcut (from desktop):
            joystick left > text message

              Rafa,

              I would recommend K300 before T637.

T637 does have Bluetooth and a good TFT display which K300 doesn't but the K300 is a generation newer than the T637 which one can see regarding:

              - MMI (Man Machine Interface) is one generation newer
              - memory (greater)
              - Java speed (much faster)
              - Camera (3x better resolution)
              - Video (doesn't exist in T637)
              - Media Player with mp3 possibilities
              - Loudspeaker phone

Since you are used to the T18d I think you will find the K300 display fully sufficient - it's other capabilities outweigh this disadvantage.

However, you also have to consider how important Bluetooth is for you - do you want to have BT handsfree then perhaps you should consider T637...

hi, just bought a k300i and it's not too bad but my main problem is that when i go to write a basic SMS it goes into a slideshow message of some kind. it says in the manual that when u go to write new message u should have a cursor and u can start writing but with my phone i get screen with an arrow and i have so select 'add' and then 'text' and then i can enter text. thing is it sends it as a slideshow message and it costs me more to do it this way...i just want to send a standard text message. please help me!

                        K300i my thoughts & complete Review :

Sony Ericsson K300i , everything you expect but a CSTN display and Small
one 128 x 128 PIXELS. the functions are pretty same as of K700i/K500i/K508i.

the best thing about K300i has its Equipped wih an fast Processor , which made
mobile work fast even fast from K700i.

Infrared Works with every Nearby Infrared-Communication it would be
                        mobile/PC/Laptop.you can send mp3/JPG / 3GP / WAV (16 KHZ or less) and
All other supported files also can Recieve them.

About Phonebook , its very easy to use , its easy to delete / modify /create
an Contact.for each contact you can assign a ringtone also a picture.
Phone can Store 510 multiple contacts ( 8 numbers can be saved as one contact )

i was first time using Sony ericsson Product, but i found it very userfriendly
and easy. Help notes are written as info in every menu. so nothing is difficult
it takes me a 5 min to understand all the phone.

Joystick of K300i is soft (not build quality) and easy to use, if compare with
PHILIPS 535 the joystick not take force to move.if you are using PHILIPS 535
you needs some foce to move it.

Call connectivity is supereb, even at 2 signal strength my call doesnt drop.

SMS/EMS/MMS is great with easy and best predefined templates you can have
everything you want.also another feature is that when you are writting an SMS
affter you enter 160 Char you have an alert that you are about to start another
                        SMS.thats very good for me.

it has also MEDIA PLAYER which can play 3GP videos , mp3 songs and other media

an 40 Polyphonic MIDI composer name as Music Dj is also present to produce
your own melodies.i created some of midi's from it , its excellent and takes
                        very less memory.

You can create sub-Folders , rename them , move them also delete them.thats very
good in order to Manage your pictures / videos / mp3's and other stuff.

Battery Performance is better than all rival models of it's ciliber.about 5 hRS
of TALKING TIME and 6-11 Days of Standby time in GSM 900 Band in here Islamabad ,
Quoting figures from an survey from 500 K300i users.

Camera Picture if taken focusing Sun Rays on object , the picture comes excellent
but if you are in artifical light the Pic become a little Faded.Pic quality
is normal not so special if you are viewing it on your phone but when you transfer it on
An PC / an TFT mobile device the quality somehow increases.

Video recording is much imporved from its Father Series (K700i) and looks more better.

Sound recording is normal , not so excellent.

Speaker phone made it another plus, its easy to have conversation via Speakerphone
you can also record conversation during an call (check local country rules for this)

GPRS is Fast as it has Very fast WAP browser.

i havent test email sending / receving also instan messenger (MY Friend) so won't
                        Comment on those.

                        OVER - ALL my thoughts:

Sony Ericsson design K300i for those people who like all the latest Set of features
in ecnomical price.the Set is one of the best amongs highly price NOKIA's/Samsung
                        /others in price Factor. i purchase it of PAK.RS/- 7400 ( 1US $ = 60 PAK.RS)

The bad points is it's CSTN display that Fade's if you are under sun rays ,
but possible to make out.For those who doesn't like it's display better go and
Buy K500/K508i/F500i.Also the Camera lens have not active Protection from dust.

The device showed no problems in the connection quality, the volume of loudspeakers is comfortable in the majority of conditions.

The 40-tones call signal is heard well also. The power of the vibra call is average and felt not bad.

Such features as the presence of 11 MB of the internal memory, mp3 as a call signal support, a Dictaphone working during a conversation and a fully-functional IrDA should be marked as evident advantages. The possibilities of the VGA-camera are maximum for a device of this class. The only straight rival for K300 is Siemens C65 similar in characteristics. The Siemens product differs in simpler design and cheaper body materials, less camera resolution (it is CIF there) and the absence of a Dictaphone. The advantage of Siemens C65 is more qualitative screen. In general K300 wins comparison and is technically the best in its class.

The differences between a simplified version K300 and K500 mainly concern the quality of the screen

and its resolution and design. The fact allows speaking about a competition inside

the product line with a bid price gap. That's why we can suppose Sony Ericsson will keep

the price level for K300 25-30 USD less than for K500. And considering today prices we can say K300 will cost about 165-170 USD.

But this is a today price and all the prices for the whole product line will be corrected in February.

Thus K500 will cost about 185-190 USD and K300 about 155 USD correspondingly. That is considerably higher than even a current price for Siemens C65 (about 135 USD).

The high margin is explained with the lack of the devices.

The company will saturate the market with the model only in the middle of the 2Q or the beginning of the 3Q

and then prices will be corrected much and will get almost equal to the ones of Siemens products.

The situation of a fall of the prices for Sony Ericsson T230 may be remembered and the same is going on with K500 now.

Summing up all above we can say that Sony Ericsson again has represented a competitive solution,

the device possible to become dominating in its price segment (if they were produced at the time).

There is also a planer solution called Karina that differs in changeable panels (covers) and 20-25 USD less price.

Technically Karina is a younger sister of an elder model and has a more youth funny design.

My sis has this phone (E228) so i know a bit about it.

Good points - 3G, Good menu system, camera on both sides and higher memory.
Bad points - phone is pretty large, has no Infr-red, Video only records for at the most 60 seconds or less.

The SE looks and feels a lot better. If you arent up for Video talking and 3G then go for the K300.

To connect to USB you need accessory cable DCU 11 which connects to the bottom connector (same as charger and handfree port)
