***WARNING*** k300i buyers :)

You can't use MP3 tone for sms message tone!
Just boring, 6 standart tones.

All other thinks are just fine. :)

the video recording time is only limited with your memory. In other words, you can record a video until your memory runs out. You have approximately 10mb of memory on your phone without adding your mp3's, photos or java applications onto it...

          Hi Nicole!

The same comments regarding userfreindlyness is also valid for Nokia phones if one is a used SE user. Either way, it takes some time for adjusting!

However, I have been able to introduce this phone to my grandmother who is 85 years old (her first mobile) and she can use it! :o)

Regarding durability I think you will be quite satisfied. This phone is a later, more economical version of the K500, where also some of the earlier design issues have been sorted out.

Hi! I am not a SE user ever since but I want to buy K300 next month for a change but bit hesitant as I heard a lot of not so good comments about SE phones in general - it's not user friendly just like N phones. And its not durable. Anybody could help me before buying this SE model?

            Thanks

Message Alert - you can only use the ones installed in the phone

MP - it has VGA solution which means 0,3 MP. There is also a "fake" 1 MP possibility by doing as following:
                1) click "more" when in camera mode
                2) chose "picture size"
                3) chose "extended"
This will give you a larger picture (i.e. 1 MP) but the resolution is still VGA mode (0,3 MP). The phone just doubles the amount of pixels and you get a bigger picture.

                          My mistake;
one starts with pressing right, * etc.

The method described below is correct. Sorry for the confusion.

                            Radu,
only way to adjust contrast on K300i is thru the service menu as described below. There is no other way. Just start moving the joystick left, press * etc regardless of where you are in the phone menu. When you have pressed enough steps the phone will respond with the servoce menu.

                                A) contrast:
                                Follow these steps:
                                1) Press the joystick button to the right, 2) press *,
                                3) Press the joystick button to the left,
                                4) Press the joystick button to the left,
                                5) press *,
                                6) Press the joystick button to the left,
                                7) Press *.
8)Go to service settings (2nd option)
                                9) press only option contrast,
                                10) fix contrast with joystick up/down

                                B) mp3 playing list - the K300 has mp3 compability for mainly playing ring tones, not complete albums - the walkman phones are the ones to look for for serious music adventures. Read further down for good tips how to compress songs. Adding a memory slot would have added cost and size.

                                C) USB-port - would also have added cost and size. You can use the accesory cable DCU-11 to connect to USB

guys the absence of a memory slot really puts me off theres hardly any use of the mp3 player. u can barely store 2 songs on it. n the vga cam is quite ok. A usb port couldv helped

hy, i would also like to know whether adjusting the contrast improves the quality of the screen? Does the picture become better (more vivid and clear)?

I bought Sony Ericsson K300i and willing to share some opinion with you all.

MP3-Reduce the quality(frequency/kbps> of the song will reduce the size of MP3..try this software 'dBpowerAMP Music Converter' my 12 mb can store 15 or more full lenght MP3..that enough and great for me>

Data Transfer-For the non-laptop user like me I need a Sony Ericsson DCU-11 cable to connect between my pc usb port and the phone.Features
                                        -Easy installation
                                        -High data transfer speed
                                        -Internet connection
                                        -PC synchronization
the USB cable also features a charger port, that lets you charge the phone while the cable is in use, ensuring that you do not run out of power.
I m from Malaysia and the phone cost RM480(95USD),the DCU-11 cable cost RM45(9 USD)
Finnaly, this phone is damm great for mid-budget buyer.
