In answer to the person who posted the two 'comments' below.

1 - Of course it has no zoom at 2 mp. The camera uses digital zoom which only works when using lower than the maximum resolution. No camera has digital zoom that works at maximum resolution due to the way digital zoom works.

2 - The version of the phone that GSM Arena were given to test was a beta model and came with two games.

this phone falls wayyyyyyyyyy below the standards sony erricsson have set. and also it has not got maany simple and effective features sony ericsson have clained that this phone has.
for instance it has no zoom when taking photos it only has zoom in different modes.(these modeds are pictures with frames,2 or more pic blured together and burst - which take lots of pics) so basically you cant zoom to get a perfect pic.
also gsmArena claim it has 2 ''NEW'' games but it actually has 1 game ( which is terrible ).
there is no memery card included in the box as some other sources claim that there should be.
but i have to say the other feathures are pretty good.
overall i would give it 5-6 out of 10.

please reply and tell me if you agree or disagree with my comments..thank you!

      >> night photos are horrible
      >> speaker volume and clarity less than the
      walkman series

You can't expect an equally effective flash from a camfone the same way you expect from a digital camera. A digital camera has only one purpose- take pictures. A camfone is not limited to one task alone for all we know. And for that reason it isnt wise to provide camfones with the same strong flash, otherwise the battery life will be compromised. Sad to say but improvement in battery life doesnt seem to catch up with the way mobile fones improve. Hope they cud come up with a batt that can last for at least half a month on jst a single charge. =)

                Maxx,
                IT IS a new model.
I will go to the service guys, I have no other choice, because I really like the phone.
After 17-20 mins of continuous talk, it doesn't warm up the ear - not like older models of Nokia, for example. The SAR is a bit high (max. level is 2.00), but try to use handsfree devices.

                  To K:

It seems like a software problem, but you should also check if other models have the same problem. Visit service office, that is my advice. If you can, do everything to exchange your model for a new one.

I have a question to you. I have already asked that, but nobody was willing to answer. K550 has pretty high SAR level 1.25 (10g). I am curious if it heats your head fast, and averagly after what time (10min or more). I am interested in this cell, but I am worried about that SAR level. K750 has only 0.66, so its more healthy, though a little bulky. I really love 14 mm thikness of k550 in compare to 20,5 mm of k750. Thanks for any help

Hey guys. Can anyone help me please?
I have this phone for 2 weeks now. All the functions are OK except a very important one: from time to time, it cannot receive incoming calls - like it would be shut down. After I restart it, or make a call, it goes OK for a few hours, then again: no incoming calls. Outgoing calls are possible all the time, no problem, the network indicator is full. I changed the SIM and the problem persists, wherever I am as location. Tried to upgrade it, but there are no upgrades (maybe because it's a recent model). Can anyone PLEASE tell me what happens? TY

@Space - Press Menu then Press 9 (or goto Settings). Scroll down when on the General tab to Security. You will find Automatic Keylock in there.

@Slk - The zoom is a digital zoom so only works when taking pictures that are not at full resolution.

                          Hi guys

I've been using this cell almost two weeks. The cybershot branding is indeed worth the name for the photos taken at daytime. Tne focus works so well. But in low light conditions the focus does not work even though the beep confirming the focus sounds. So better put the focus type to infinite from auto or macro. Also night pics are very noisy and poor. But daylight pics are excellent.

Pls check out my sample pics at www.raphealvilla.blogspot.com

                          They are just great..

Also another cute feature is that this phone supports VIDEO ringtones. Great feature indeed.

The speed of the cell is great compared to the walkman series. Also the music quality mathces the walkman series if u use walkman type headphones instead of the headphones in the box.

Overall a very cute and value 4 money cell...

                          Hurray 4 SONY ERICSSON.

As far as i concern its a budget phone with lot of value added services. The battery back up for talking is similar to K750.The only limitation i faced is its memory.Everything else is good & far better than other brands. So don't confuse go ahead..........

i just bought a K550i, n it does not allow me to use the zoom function when shooting in normal mode, a message of "zoom is not possible in this mode" appear on the display. Only when i switched to other modes such as panorama, frame, burst n video, the camera allows me to zoom. Now, is this normal to this model, or i just got a defective phone? can someone pls help. TQ

6233 is much better with 240x320 pixels screen and 640x480 video recording. It has the same 2MP cam but no flash. It has higher quality metal outlook and great functionality. It also has loud Stereo speakers and a better keyapd
But it has an OS and you can expect data hack and viruses.

Thank you all for solutions. That was prompt!

Nav: K550i doesn't have light or powersave options. It's just settings -> display -> brightness (by %)

sm4rtboy: Activity menu or pop up is just a preference where the former will have the whole 'New events' on the screen and the latter will notify xx number of new messages. When new sms-es etc arrives while the phone is on idle or powersave mode, the activity menu or pop-up appears for that split 2 secs before the screen blanks again. Nope, still doesn't have the time floating while the phone's on idle or while the screen's blank.

Carbonize: Yes, I guess some if not all phones works that way where when it's on idle or blank, just press any buttons and a dull light lights up and you can see the screen for 2 seconds (for time check or whatever).

My next question, could it be theme-dependent??

Again.. It has an internal memory of 80mb plus an external m2 memory of 64mb. But it can support up to 2 gig. Camera is far better than Nokia's 6680, considering the flash and white balance. U can tell a camfone is good when u start using it in lowlight together with a flash. If you a camfone then go for the cybershot, otherwise go for the walkman fone if you prefer high quality music.
