I'm not an IT expert. so i dunno what the exact size of RAM on K550i, even sony delevoper site dont mention them. so we only left with something called "heap size" of Java.

btw, you can check other phone's heap size on the same site.
one good example for us amateur to programming is Nokia 6233: its int mem is approx 6mb. you CAN STORE java application on ext mem. but you CAN'T RUN java application that have size 800kb. (but sometimes it can, depends on how much the apps takes RAM)
there's more forum about this scattered on the net. but 3mb seems to be the biggest heap size at current time.

nope they wont run slow. they wont run at all and only display insufficient ram warning message.

pls differ between memory for STORING java application, and memory for RUNNING java application. they are different.
what u said is simply for storing. anybody and any phone can do that.
but for running java apps, you need a specific memory called RAM.
in java they are classified by heap size.
k550i have 1.5mb-3mb heap size means that it can run java software that eat RAM up to 3mb.
however, it also depends on your internal memory empty size. if your internal memory is full. you cant even run an apps.
I have a bulk 5903kb J2me application. Think Nokia can handle?
for comparison:
k510i have 1mb-1.5mb (half of K550i) its real internal memory is 28mb
w880i, w660i, k530i have 512kb-1.5mb simply said lower or the same as k510i. its real internal memory is 16mb.
it's written on sony ericsson developer site. I'm not joking.

You can save all java aplication in ext.memory and you can running fast always.
All java's phone more simply, more stable (no virus and no 'hang'), more running fast(especialy SE
Phone).

A good phone, but three questions:
1) When it is hybernating, you only 'see' the clock in small, black letters. Almost invisible. So you have to press something to know the time. How to change this?
2) When sending SMS, it mixes up the letters, very cumbersum if you do it too fastly
3) When you press the left moon-shaped button it redirects you to internet (paying, of course), and I didn't find a way to switch this off.
Can anybody help especially with 1?

K550 and C702 always better.
In C702 have:
- good design, cyber shot in camera(new cam engine), good video (qvga@30fps), quadband hsdpa and edge, mega bass in music, 2.2 inchi screen, gps inside, splash and dust proof(only in C702), good in memory (int.160MB and ext. support 8GB max)

Is c702 triband hsdpa? I think k850 is the proper k550 replacement candidate.
Got 3led yet hv xenon. Got triband hsdpa, quadband gsm, gprs10, hsdcd and edge. autofocus and 5 mpx. Flash themes and megabass. Got gps with hge100. Microsd support.
The only minus things r no wifi and lower intmem @40mb.
Nothing beat k850 except k550 in term of price :)

Nothing problem with my k550.
I falling in love with K550 and C702.
Cause:
- K550 is a rising star from 2G.
- C702 is the big gun from 3.5G.
K550 and C702 is in cyber shot rules.

I think this fone is really good.. Well, im a SE fan also.. have p990i and k810i on hand.. and im planning to buy this for my mom.. SE s really d best..

it is your preference for 6300 or k550. model design is subjective. if u like stainless finish, bigger keypad (but it is very close to its neighbour key), a greater resolution (QVGA) and more color lcd (16M) rather than technology, go for 6300. it suits you. another benefit of 6300 is that it has a led reminder of missed calls nor sms which quite neat.
however, don't hope for it to become a java machine. its not a symbian, windows mobile, and its java capability is very limited since its low RAM (caused by low internal memory). this will affect functionality further.

is there any k750 on sale ?
if u have big thumb, u may press k550 with nail softly. but cant blame if u dislike the button design.
anyway u must take note that sony ericsson abandon joystick in their new design since it is always malfunctioning, and k750 still uses joystick.

k550 always better.
cause:
- no EDGE in k750.
- support A2DP in k550.
- D-pad in k550 better than joystick in k750 (i means 'no hang').
- TFD screen in k550 is very cool (more dark in black colour).
- more quick and fast in k550(it's truly).

well i m goin to buy this phone next month can any well tell me that weather k550 is good or k750.plz tell me.i think that the sound and camera result of k550 is better than k750 but i dun lyk the buttons of k550 cuz they r too small..................plz help me that weather i should buy k550 or k750.......

K550 is way beta dan 6300.got beta cam,sound n design(atleast i think so).display is on par wid 6300 n way beta battery life dan 6300,up2 4dys,6300 wud last 1.5dys wid d same use.k550 has real multitasking,runs ova 7apps at d same time n still u can make calls,sms or mess wid menu widout exiting apps.k550 also has flash, af in cam.flash can b used as a torch also.
2me 6300 n z3 cant even compete wid d mighty k550.

K550 quick and fast in proccesor.
Moto RIZR Z3 is slow phone.
No multitasking in Z3 (as all Moto phone).
No animated wallpaper in Z3.

3g is not available in most countries, wt is use then 3g phones??????????
I m happy with 2g, I have 2mbps broadband connection on my pc, I did 100 gb download last month ,no need of 3g....in world 2g is mostly used, other benifits of 3g makes no large diffrence over 2g
