Human being that is too lazy to write his name down !.
The SMS share in the shared memory is 200-250 KB, I don't know how many SMS's can be stored in such space, it depends on the average size of all messages you have, but in general it won't be enough if you're messaging a lot and save every single SMS -even your service provider recharging reminders !-.
No, they can't be stored in the MS.

NO, there was no data back-ups in my case, you can do it if that will make you feel safer, in fact, data loss is a possibility in case that anything bad happened during updating, so backing-up your data is a smart thing to do.
There is no way to back-up your current firmware, nor there will be a method through which you can roll back to it.
If anything bad happened, all you'll need to do is to take your phone to any SE customer care center and they will flash it for you properly -give it a try yourself 1st, the new updating software is free from troubles, indeed very reliable, very easy to use and staright forward-.
If you don't have any bugs and don't need any of the new features\improvements of the new firmware -down this page is a posting addressed to "Unidentified" in which there is a link to a page that has an analysis to all available firmwares, check it out to see if you'll really gonna benefit from the new firmware or not- then I recommend you forgetting it.
If you wanna give it a try still you're afraid about it, just take your mobile to SE customer service and they will flash it for you without the slightest trouble at all.
I feel the phone a little faster with the new firmware, louder too, but that's all.

Well, quicker or slower, safer or troublesome, it doesn't matter now.
I said several time that you no longer can flash into W800 firmware, that ship is already sailed !.

Hi @DoUL,
Did you do any backup before the firmware installation?
How?
Any risk?
How you feel about the new firmware?

Yes, from my personal observaion, both the headset and the loud speaker are louder in latest R1AA008 firmware than they used to be in previous R1N035 firmware.
To update to the latest firmware, go to www.sonyericsson.com, choose your region and language, go to Support page, choose K750 model. Now you should see a link named Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS), click that link and download SEUS package then install it -make sure that your phone IS plugeed in the USB cable and is switched on before starting to install the package, also your phone has to be installed in your PC OS-, after installation restart your pc. You should find a shortcut named Update Service in your desktop, click it and follow the instrctions. -When you reach the step of removing the battery and pressing C key, make sure that you press it tight and keep pressing it untill it tells you to let go-. Also, updating with a high broad band connection is less risky than updating with a dial-up -risking here is the possibility of connection breaking during updating-, however, you can still update using a dial-up connection -I already updated with a slow dial-up-.

I don't have an iPod, I don't know the type of its headset connector. You can know if it will slip out or not for sure when you check the specifications of the headset itself, if it were compatible\of that 3.5 mm type, then it shouldn't.
Yoman
I don't know, I don't have any IrDA device, plus I don't know which "BAFO" product you're talking about. If I were you, I'de buy the same product -BAFO or from another brand- but which is connecting with bluetooth instead of IrDA. IrDA is already outdated and replaced with the faster & safer bluetooth technology.

Yes, you can use mini opera in your K750. I can't tell you for sure what is the OS that is driving\working into the K750, it's not a symbian phone so it doesn't work with any symbian OS's (s60 or s70). Though it has an unknown OS but that invisible OS is very fast & reliable indeed, having all these top-notch features in that small & compact design and still being that fast !, very efficient OS indeed. Check this site to take a glimpse about the applications that you can run\use in your K750:

Yes, you can use W800 default headset (HPB-70) in\with your K750. Both models have the same port so any headset working on that port can be used with K750.

The biggest memory card size supported by K750 is 4 GB MS Duo Pro -or any other type that will be working with MS Due Pro specifications and size-. The biggest MS Duo Pro available to date is 2 GB. So the current biggest MS size supported by K750 is 2 GB untill they create\make a 4 GB one -if they ever do it-.
jack (again)
Nothing. As I said before it's only preferable to format the memory stick before it's first usage, but it's not that critical\necessary -means your MS will still work fine if you didn't format it-. Other times formatting is a necessity if the MS starts to act up -just like your PC HDD-.
NOTE
There will be a FAQ section here soon.
It's already have been written and sent to GSMArena builders, I'm just not sure when it's gonna be published, but it will be here sooner or later.
