Absolutely nothing wrong with it. You all must be using internet or get music from friends and leave yr bluetooth on and somehow get viruses which will damage yr phone. I am in India in bought this in Mumbai.People can go ahead and buy this as there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this AWESOME cell.I can give you a gaurantee.Must buy...Instead of W850 i bought this & its really better in all aspects.NO PROBLEM with the joystick at all. It is unlike the T630's one where dust goes in as there is a gap in that one,not in this at all. Easy to move joystick.Maybe slightly expensive but it is a MUST BUY!!!!!!!!excellent in music and camera etc..You can never go wrong if you buy this cell. And people do not get discouraged by others views as you will not face any problem with this K790i.No hanging or white screen at ALL. That comes via internet, bluetooth or if u have fropped the phone sometimes... Lens protects camera if falls down.

    i don't know whats wrong with your phones but mine is perfectly fine, no problems at ALL this is the BEST sony ericsson phone; all the features are amazing (speaker, music, camera, screen, etc.) This is the best phone i have ever had and nothing is wrong with it

      My phone hangs too. Other forums people have expressed same opinion. Its the k790i I am talking about. I dont know what to do.

        NO Problem with the firmware and it DOES NOT hang at all.. Joysticks is Not at all like T630 which gets spoilt.There is a gap in that one . This joystick is a real JOY and no problems of any sort with it.Must BUY for people who like photography and music as it is EXCELLENT in both these fields. Keypad is not a bit hard.If the testing models' keypad is hard thats because its being used everyday and roughly.Better the W710i,W850i,W550i & K750i..I can assure you that at least for 7 years you wont have trouble with this..Very convienient also to have a good camera with u whereever u go as cant always carry a CAMERA with you..
        EXCELLENT PHONE. MUST BUY for students

          There is absolutely no prob with this phone of any kind. The joystick DOES NOT cause any problem at ALL. Dont worry about that. It Is much cheaper than the W850i and it is a must buy...

            Ok.... After a lot of confusion i bought a SE K790i. I was thinking whioch phone should i buy. Should it be the Nokia N73 or SE k790i. I bought the phone two days ago. The prices fell on the 28th of September 2006 in India ( Mumbai ) by around 40 to 50 $ or Rs 2500.
            The SE K790i is a good pieace, Camera quality and clarity is mind blowing. So far the phone is not froozen , nor is it slow.It's working the way normaly all SE phones work.
            Coming to the bad .....
            The Joy stick is very delicate you have to be very carefull as and when you use it.
            The Sound of the phone is very low. After puttingthe Handsfree it is ok.. But i would have prefered the Sound to be a little on the higher side.

              my fone hangs up (flashing white screen)
              when i go into the contacts and then press up to go to the last contact first.
              neone else hav same prob &/or know how to repair it ... my firmware version r1cc003

                i got a networking worm on my phone card , and it doubled most of my apllications and games to fill up the entire memory card.

                i then removed the worm using my comp antivirus however the doubled files remained and could not be deleted by the phone.

                then i formatted the disk and it has given me back the space however the names of those old games and application have still remained

                can anyone help me?? how do i remove these
                names??

                  USB internet? - what are dumb or something? - all phones can do that man... like more than 10 years now.. shizzz..!! :(

                    I have this phone for almost two months..
                    in that time it has been replace once. Firmware upgraded in the second phone because of hanging. At the moment the phone is in the service depot, as it hangs, or it goes off and switches back on its own.
                    Phone owned for approx 60 days. In that time it is with the service depot for 45 days. It is still with them as of now.

                    This phone does have firmware issues. Since its launch i think this is 6th or 7th firmware upgrade. latest being R1ED001.
                    Lastly although SE Has got a software upgrade facility, it never works. It always tells you that you have the latest software. Which is incorrect. For an upgrade you need to go to the service depot.

                        Hi again, drsilverworm here. I have noticed people complaining about firmware issues. I don't see these problems in my phone, I only have an occasional freeze when using a version of a certain program which was not made for my phone, which is expected. Overall I am very happy with the firmware.

                        Mp3s can be saved to the phone, any length full mp3s, which can be accessed from either the mp3 player or the file manager. Any MP3 can be set to a specific contact to be an individual ringtone. They play the MP3 from the beginning when the person is calling you. As far as I know, you can do this for an unlimited number of contacts.

                        Keith: I said I find the sound quality of the speaker to be as good or better than the w800i. The headphones that come with the phone are definetly worse than those that come with the w800i. I would reccomend purchasing the HPM-70 headphones from sony ericsson, or an off-brand converter for your own headphones, which can be found online very cheap (HPM-70, while great headphones, are rather expensive). Be aware when buying a headphone cable that the cable acts as a radio fm reciever, and not all 3rd party cables act as an FM reciever. Look for that detail.

                        OY: Flash cannot be used as a flashlight, being a xenon light, it would take to much battery. However, when you focus a picture, a red LED shines briefly. Someone has created an application that uses this red LED as a torch, and it works excellently. The same person created a light application that turns screen and keypad on full brightness to create a very powerful white light. Email me if you want these applications, I will send you the link. Very useful.

                        Sankalp: I haven't tried putting an AVI video on my phone yet, but the phone DOES support full screen video.

                        sfx: The sound quality of the internal speaker is my one and only gripe about this phone, it could be better. I would reccomend using the speaker, or a bluetooth earpiece. The bluetooth features are very easy to use.
                        However, the internal speaker is still functional, and I use it for most of my calls.

                        Ikhanr: All sony ericsson phones that I know of support the "internet" feature, at least my old w800i did. Mind you though, GPRS is very slow for a laptop internet. Probably not a useful feature unless you have 3G or a decent EDGE connection (T-Mobile USA's EDGE connection is pitiful).

                        SFX: K790 does not have videocall, the K800 does.

                            Hi Guys, have you noticed that this phone comes with a feature called "USB Internet". It's lovely. You connect your phone to the computer via USB Cable and boom.... you will be able to use the Internet on your computer through GPRS or EDGE.
                            Does anybody know if any other SE or Nokia phone having the same feature?

                                      Well the firmware for K790i is pathetic. It gives all sorts of problems. Try going to the service depot and upgrade the software.
                                      You will be lucky if you can upgrade it immediately, most of the time its down. Try upgrading it yourself at home, it will tell you, that you have the latest software.
                                      Wake up Sony Ericsson or Perish. Its not only a question of making great phones, it goes along with great service too.

                                        Drsilverworm...Thanks took forever for someone to answer my question about the headphones and handsfree jack. Much appreciated. I listen to music from my phone while I work out and run and I am concerned about comfort. Do you actually find the sound quality better? And do you find them more comfortable compared to the W800i?
