Brought the phone for about 3 weeks, nothing wrong..
except for the bad video recording quality, this phone is worth buying

When I send sms or mms with my k800i, it's super fast. After using for 2 weeks, so far so good except for the keypad tone which is all the time silent mode even on the sound for a while (even replaced with 1 new set-same problem), it goes back to silent mode again later. I think probably it's the software problem, try download the latest software but new software not available yet. My current software cersion are CXC1250214 R1CB001 060608.

K800i has the best camera & flash quality on the market so far except the video is a bit disappointing. Battery life so so, I bought an original car charger so charge when the battery went low.

For those who worry the len cover will accidently easily open, suggest you buy the crystal case hard cover and the len cover are basically protected at the same time.

Before I switch back to k800i, I'm using the N73 and I said the built quality sonyericsson phones are better in the refinement. For N73 video, though is Mpeg4 format but it turn out also not very good even the carl zesis len don't produce excellent photos in dim place except bright open areas, the flash not strong enough as only good for very close range. I sold off my N73 and went back for Se phones as my n73 hanged often, the only I like for the phone is the dual stereo speakers effect for n73.

If you don't mind a good 2 mega camera phone, K750i is still the best 2 mega phone on the market today. Small & solid phone after all, K800i works more like a digicam with the xenon flash...

Different phones has its strength & weakness. No phone is perfect, it is up to you to define it... For me after using nokia phones for many years, change for a more refreshing se and no regret so far...

              To Matt:

The message you are probably replying to, is not mine. My sole message was the one located exactly above my nickname (the one with the pockets and holes thing. Hehehe!). Maybe you (or anyone else) can try and help in that one! :)

Got the phone when it came out, been great. No problems. Video is a bit poor, photos are amazing. Just smashed the screan today so im having bother getting a replacement. O2 tried to fob me off with a nokia n91!! no comparison. only other small thing is the thickness of the phone. camera slide cover sticks out a bit and opens in your pocket, gonna have to get a carry case to protect it once its replaced!.

K800 is a great phone to have, if only this phone at least has QVGA quality video I might consider buying it. :(

Carrying on from the previous comment, I have tried the video calling, calling from my N70 to my SEk800i and I am fairly pleased with it.

It is not amazing, but it is still early technology so I would not expect the Earth. It cannot really handle too much motion but all-in-all it is not bad.

As for the memory cards, its a shame that this phone takes the new m2 cards as it makes it slightly more expensive, but still you can usually find a 1gb card for around £40 online if you shop around.

I've had this phone for a few weeks now and i think it's time to post my opinion.

It's fantastic in all aspects but i'm not going to say it's fault-free. It's new so you would expect there to be some problems and if anyone says anything to the contrary then they are utterly dim!

The camera quality is awesome and in my opinion far better than the Nokia N80/N73. The quality of the pic on screen is not as nice as the aforementioned handsets but the printed picture is far better. The auto-focus is excellent and unlike the Nokia N73 it is fast and accurate. The BestPic function is something i've only used twice but is very clever. Also, the Xenon flash bulb holds a great advantage over rivals because the camera has the best light for the picture at all times. This definitely is a Camera with a built in Phone!

As for phone features, i think the keys are a little too close and not as well defined as previous handsets like the K750i/W810i. That is just a small gripe of mine as my thumbs are big so texting becomes difficult. Otherwise, the menu system is the same layout as the K750i etc. but has been "funked up" and looks much tastier. It's a little slower but the higher quality graphics are to blame for that, not a major upset.

I understand some people will get annoyed that the phone is not shipped with a memory card in the UK but this is to lower the initial cost of the handset so it can be offered on lower contract deals and is easier obtained by the masses. Let's face it, memory cards are not expensive these days, especially if you shop around on the internet.

The Web Browser is nice and easy to use and allows me to visit my favourite sites although if you're not in a 3G area then it's fairly slow. The built-in Google Search is a nice wee touch.

I haven't tried Video Calling on it yet so i can't comment on that.

All in all, a very capable, high spec handset.

Go but one, you won't regret it.

                          TO VALDER:

I'd say your phone is defected because I have had mine now for over a month and I have never ran into the problem that you are describing.

Hello! I would like to ask K800 owners about placing the phone into narrow pockets, let's say for example blue jeans' pockets. Currently I own the bulky Nokia 3650 and when placing it into narrow pockets it protrudes and my pocket gets too bouffant like I placed rocks in it or something, plus it gets decorated with small holes created by the abrasion of the phone edges to it.

Needless to say I had no such phenomena with Ericsson T39m (In my dictionary, T39's equivalent is "Quality"). Should I buy this magnificent phone or is too bulky for my needs? (no buffant pockets, no holes by the edges abrasion)

I would like to apologize in case this point was raised here before my post.

                                Thank you all in advance!

Just got the k800 two days ago and i noticed that while recieving a call at some point when the person's voice gets louder or the person is in a loud environment it has an annoying crackling noise. The sort of noise you hear when you raise the volume on your sound system and the speaker cant handle it.
pls can anyone help, if this is a defect with the phone or mine is bad?
