defect of your joystick is simply by not using
it.^^
seriously you can use shortcuts to use the basic functions of your phone.here is how it goes,
when you find out how to use the keypad as shortcuts you will barely use the joystick. for example if you press 5(message,write new) and press 1 (text message) and 1 (the text pad ) then youre ready to type a message.
these are the numbers/symbols that you need to press and their corresponding most-use functions.
press 4 for mp3 player
5-1-1 text message
5-1-2 mms
5-1-3 voice message
5-1-4 email message
5-2 inbox
5-7 sent items
5-8 save message
3-3 games
3-2 radio
3-4 video player
3-9 record sound
#-2 edit time and date
if you'll observe, these numbers that you need to press depends in the enumeration of the sub menus from top to bottom.
for example:
5-messaging and the sub menu is..
1-write new
2-inbox
3-email
4-RSS reader
5-drafts
6-outbox
7-sent items
8-saved messages
lets say you press 1 for write message the sub-menu is
1-text message
2-picture message or mms
3-voice message
4-email
if you want to send an mms then press 2.
see? you dont even have to use the joystick to send any kind of message.
for gaming instead of using the joystick for up-down-left-right direction use can use:
2-up
8-down
4-left
6-right
5-enter
for browsing:
instead of using the joystick to navigate to the menus and sub-menus you can use this keypad shortcuts
2- internet
2-1 bookmark
2-2 enter web adress
2-3 search in google
2-4 history list
2-5
2-7 down
2-9 up
2-0 zoom
by pressing * (asteris) you can change the page layout or the screen mode into normal screen, fullscreen and landscape mode for better browsing experience.
if you'll learn how to use the shortcuts you will barely need the joystick.

I've had my k8ooi for about more than a year. I had no problem on it at except for its joystick. I must admit that most of the phones with joystick can be easily broken. I'm wondering if this can be fixed? 'Coz i really love this phone and i have no plans of switching on to another unit. And another thing, i can't receive calls, what seems to be the problem?
If anyone of you knows the answer, kindly reply to my post.
Btw, if the joystick replacement (if ever) will be pricey?

Im telling you now this is one of the best mobiles my sister has the n95 and this 3.2 mega pix is as goood as the 5 mega pix in flash this mob beats that.It is real rock solid long lasting, it has everything u wud need except for wlan and gps sound quality is not that bad but is better then average :D

i was wondering y it still doesn't ask me to type d security code when n fact i hv already turnd on the phone protection. on Nokia u can't access unless u type d code. kindly giv some info...

can any one tell me ma k800 is not coming on even if i put on charging. actually i opened the screws to take out keypad but i coudn,t open it after wards when i fit evrythng bk it doesn,t come on.:( plz help ma email is muhammadwaqar@hotmail.co.uk plz contact me on dis thnx

I have K800i since 9 months now and I think I'm lucky that i have this great mobile. there's 2 things I would wish to be in it:
Wi-fi.. and flash despite of Xenon
I don't get good photos with Xenon. I don't know why maybe it has some settings first to have the best of it

i was have k800i and after TWO NONTHS!!!! damaged with no any reason ! i think the performance is very weak !
i am very angry ! i loved the shape and the features
i think sony ericsson is bad mobiles and need to use for just calls ! no more

I EXPEREINCE K800i best in pictures and cameras but the problem sometimes always hanged when sometimes i scroll fast to restore the function i must remove the battery pack to return into normal.whats the solution of this kind of problem?is it possible to use 2gb for K800i?

i need a phone that has very good java (both games & apps) & bluetooth support with a decent battery life. which one is a better choice for me- SE K800 or Nokia 6120?

hi there K800 buddies... congratulations you've got this phone & made the right choice... but sad to say for those who planned to buy one cause its already discontinued... meaning out of production... better not wish for this little king for you cannot find brand new in the shelves no more... i consider this phone K800 LEGENDARY... brown was there last released version...

Well said...the k790/k800 was really an absolute class camera phone...i had k850,N82 before..and now settled with k790...searched for good camera phone tried all 5 mpx phones..and to say the truth no 5 megapixel phone is as perfect as k790/k800...built strongly and remains all time class of sony ericsson!!!
