To answer both questions:
There is a lens cover which is under the backglass so in a sense there are two covers.
As far as the best color, I chose Velvet Blue since the backlighting is a whitish blue color as well as the light-up camera icons. Speaking of those I wish the entire phone had the deep blue as backlighting. As for the stripe on each side of the phone, the pictures are deceiving as I thought it lit up. It infact does not light up and is far less noticeable than in the pictures.

realy neat camera, good features, got the photo fix option in the camera, and another feature called best pic, really cool phone for people who like taking pics from their phone.. you'll will love it.

I don't know how to begin...
I have been drooling over this phone since it's announcement and finally received it yesterday. I'm not sure if the hype and/or waiting had built up my enthusiasm but it didn't measure up once I started playing with it.
1st hour:
Somewhat fun but also frustrating orientating myself with it. I was about to freak out thinking there wasn't a file manager but I finally found it. The alternative which is the media icon is somewhat useless as it doesn't arrange files in an appropriate way for me.
2nd hour:
I found something in the media/photo section called XPic Story which although gimmicky is actually pretty neat. It gives you a creative slideshow presentation with pre-arranged music which you can select a theme from. Maybe this is on other SE phones but I have been using the W800i for the last couple years.
3rd hour:
Getting used to the three touch spots and the dedicated call and end buttons took awhile but are a nice edition. I still haven't perfected the touch spots though. They get activated by accident once in awhile and sometimes when the OS hangs you end up touching them again thinking it didn't work which results in multiple pushes.
Positive aspects:
Ear speaker is plenty loud as is the main speaker. Screen is perfect size and the lack of 16M colors does not bother me at all. A new feature to me (someone tell me if this has been offered on other SE phones) is the video option when someone calls. Instead of just a picture you can have a video play.
Negative aspects:
Believe me I am a die-hard SE fan but this phone is not worth $600!! I'm not a big Apple fan but for what the IPhone can do compared to the K850i, a price of $600 can be justified. Yes this has a 5MP camera but still...
Something else I can agree with other posts from people is that the phone doesn't feel as solid as I would have hoped. My W800i was exactly opposite - very very solid! Also as mentioned here it is a fingerprint magnet!! And a problem that poses is on the backside where the lens is. It's nice that the lens is secured behind the glass but not when fingerprints are abundant. Something else I was surprised about is the sometimes sluggish performance of the OS.
This post might sound like a complete bashing however I don't mean it to be. Most of my dismay is coming from my own hype I created, but mainly the price of $600 is what kills me. In all honesty I still haven't decided if I will keep it or not. If not I will go back to my W800i which has been dropped about 100 times and still works flawlessly. I'm not sure how durable the K850i will be with dropping but I am not willing to find out.
For everyone out there waiting for theirs please don't use my post as the only opinion. Try it for yourself and I am interested in all other opinions out there.
Oh, one last thing - a few people were interested before I ordered this as to which one I would actually receive since it was from Hong Kong. I did infact receive the K850i, not the 858, but in the service menu it says GSM 850 not HSDPA. Any thoughts on that??
All in all it's a nice phone, but $600 is a little steep!

Hmm, I have had the K850i for 15 minutes and have to say so far I'm not impressed. I love SE's and wouldn't have anything else but this 1 is quite heavy and the buttons are too small and too far apart. I will persevere but so far, it's not impressing me
