open application speeds up your battery life empty. always check your task manager and close running application if not in use. mine, r9j005 lasts 3-4 days.

RaJ_Mohan, 23 Jul 2008hi people/friends around the globe. im indonesian, well i ... moreThe folder .rar has got theme with extension name .utz. So archive the folder on desktop and then extract the theme and transfer it to ur memory card. Goto file manager and selct the file to install theme on ur phone.
.rar folder is like zip folder. If u dnt hv winrar application on ur desktop, better download from internet and use it for extracting files.
        Hope my suggestion helps u.

          hi people/friends around the globe.
im indonesian, well i just got my SE p1i 2 days back and well its a very good phone agreed. my ques is why i cant apply the themes that i have downloaded from a website(http://gallery.mobile9.com/c/sony-ericsson-p1p1i-themes/1/). i been reading all the posted review about the installation and it seems only .UTZ file can only applied to the phone. my case is i downloaded the SE theme in rar format, so how can i install it as utz file on my SE p1i. all the replies will be really appreciated. thanks a lot poeple. I read someones comments on the "shortcuts" that they should be carefully selected as they cannot be changed, infact they can be. select the shortcut u need to change and press " more", there u will see the repalce option. change as many times as u want according to ur needs and convinience.
                hope it helps.

I have done manytimes like this but no use. I will wait for winter to be over and the present temperature is below 15c in my place.let me check the battery performance during summer as it was performing well in dry season with old firmware. If it doesn't improve i have to blame the firmware only. I am very much cautious while charging the phone and i dont over charge the battery at anymoment. I am typing this msg through opera mini4.1. Battery has gone down by 3percent in just 10min.it shows its poor battery backup. The same battery used to lost for 2days with old firmware.thanks for the opinions. Any more suggestions regarding battery performance is most welcome.

He would receive a call then press the voice recorded shortcut and the call would then be recorded!

Some phone companies can send a signal to your phone so it can update the settings automatically.

The phone doesn't have the settings, by default, and must be configured before usage!

wzn_so_amateur, 16 Jul 2008okay..thanx danding. i know they are different, just wanna... moreThe music playback quality is pretty good!

Unfortunately, the media player software is not! IMHO, This phone will NEVER replace the iPod!

The controls are all "soft keys" and difficult to manage esp. if you listen to audiobooks!

You need to use the stylus for precise movement for using Forward/Reverse which is TERRIBLE!

If all you need is to listen to casual music, then any SE phones with the media player will actually do!

The only other problem is that SE phones require you to use their headsets (which aren't that good!) or buy a 3.5mm adaptor so you can use your own headphones!

But if you really like to listen to music and audiobooks, then buy a separate mp3 player/iPod!

Remember that the P1i is really a PDA not a music phone like the "W" series. Even then, the "W" series phones won't replace a decent mp3 player/iPod!

x, 20 Jul 2008can someone help me..i have p1 but my problem with it is..i... moreYou should turn OFF Wifi, bluetooth, GPS and set backlight to 50-60% as you have TOO many settings ON which is sucking up the battery life!

Just remember to turn OFF any settings that you don't really use to help conserve the battery!

Also, cycle the battery down to it's lowest (i.e. 5-10%) before charging to peak capacity.

Trying updating the firmware which may or may not help!

I noticed that many users are posting ~2-3 days usage with most settings OFF while using primarily the phone. It's not good compared to battery life on other SE phones but considering that the P1i is really a PDA, it's "decent".

SE needs to update the firmware for better battery power conservation!

Lastly, only thing left to do is buy more batteries! Hah!

I've used the phone ONLY for calls with Wifi OFF and rarely use the media player and the needs recharging every ~2-3 days!

The phone is a battery hog even with the BST-40 battery! Imagine what the battery life is using the BST-33 battery that it was "suppose" to use before SE switched it over to the BST-40 battery?

SE really needs to work on power management on their "P" series phones!

The P1i phone does offer 3G even though it's stated in the specs! Can't even get the setting in the phone to use 3G and it's imported from Europe where 3G is available!!

dd, 22 Jul 2008dear P1 users, I'm going to buy this ph . what are the sta... moreFirst thing you'll need are extra BST-40 batteries since the P1i is a battery hog!

Also, a 3.5mm adapter would be needed if you intend to use the media player but prefer to use your own headphones. A MIC adapter attached to the 3.5mm adapter would be better. The included headset isn't that good.

The phone will accept the 8GB microSD card even though it "officially" accepts up to 4GB. The transfer rate to the card is very slow via USB!

You'll also need to buy more styluses as the SE ones are "cheap" quality and break easily.

Make sure you update the firmware since the update makes the O/S smoother.

There's not too many "games" for the P1i but more utility softwares so you'll have to search online for games! There are many websites that offer "free" themes and such but you'll have to decide whether those items can be trusted or not!
