hi there. i seriously need this phone. does anyone have this phone sort of unused and just kept somewhere around the house? um, like, it's been replaced by a new phone and you don't need it anymore? i'd be more than happy and forever grateful if you give it to me. i need it for our drill, a detective training, but i don't have money to buy myself one. please help. thank you.

OK here's how
1. Go to www.fring.com
2. On the homepage you find a big picture that says "Download fring to your mobile", click it
3. It will take you to another page that gives 3 choices. choose the 2nd choice (middle one) i.e. download to computer. Enter the brand as SE and device as p1i. enter your email address and click "join"
4. The ".sis" file will immediately start downloading. 5. After it finishes, copy the .sis file to your memory card (anywhere)
6. Click on the .sis file to install and follow up the installation
7. WHen you open fring for first time you will have to register yourself at fring.com. Do that
YOU"RE DONE!
8. Afterwards go to settings and add you're accounts.
FRING OFFERS Skype®, MSN® Messenger, Google Talk™, ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo!™ and AIM®, Facebook etc.
If you have any further issues post here i'm ready to help :)

SE rocks!
i tried video calling with my sister's n95,and i'm amazed that my p1i is more clearer and faster than the n95..
and the fact that video calling is more cheaper than the regular voice call...
(here in Philippines)
so i love it..
but i wish i have my yahoo messenger on this phone...
please help me how to install the YM through fring.com...

Hey.. how do i deactivate the blackberry connect on my phone. I dont use it, and its draining all my battery real fast. And it just wont shutdown!

Ton,
Yes, you can use Yahoo Messenger with P1. There are a few different ways. First, you can use the web browser itself. This is alright if you wanna use Messenger occasionally.
If you are a heavy user, two options - first is FRING. It's a free software that lets you chat on Y!, can give you notifications of receiving a msg, and you can also send/receive files.
The 2nd option is IM+. This is not a free software, but is a nice one too (Trial is free). You can send files using this, but not recieve any. That's a downside. But one thing it allows u to do is change your online status - Available, Busy, Invisible, etc. FRING doesn't support that.
Anyway, both are good softwares, and pretty easy to install and use. And with both of these, you can use a few different messengers - Yahoo!, MSN, GoogleTalk, Jabber, AOL, etc.

i have been a fan of both nokia and sony erricson phone for the past 10 yrs..have used some great handsets like -nokia's 9300,ngage,1100,2600,6030,3310,3315,3150,3100,n72
,6600,6630,(n95..though it was a cheap chinese one..) n5110.
-motorola.t90,samsung e250.
-sony ericsson w550i,990i,sony k790i cybershot ,and now this P1i..this is my phone # 20...
i have been looking for a good (complete phone) for past 5-6 months..searched numerous websites,checked out handsets at stores like,9300i communicator very stylish and good at work phone,e71-a (very complete phone) but very small keys and screen and lack of touchscreen ,5800xpressmusic-cheap option for i phone killer..but dissapointed with cheap plastic looking body,n85 gr8 dvd oled screen..,n79 gr8 body ,5610-gud music,and camera but hangs a lot,n81-gud cheap option for music but bad camera,M600i- sony ericcson-only best feature is its white body that looks awsome.. ,apple iphone 3g (gud for NoTHING)i wud say at such a high price 30k.,n82 (best 5mp camera phone from nokia).i waited a lot for 5800xpress music..but was very dissapointed with its cheap plastic looking body..
finally, i got this beutyful P1i phone few days back..and m very much satisfied with the performance and the specifications of this phone..Here are my ratings on this phone
best parts about the phone
-2.6 inch Touch screen interface..awsome...10/10.
-3.2 mp camera.. gud clarity ..8/10
-wifilan is easy to use,speed is gud too..9/10
-OS is very unique and very stylish..9/10
-Music Quality is as good as any walkman series phone..but the mega bass option is great..9/10
-stylish Half qwerty keyboard..gud convinient button ethics..like wheeler on the left side.. best feature..in my view..9/10
-battery backup is gr8.....8/10
-exelent quality body .....10/10..
-good headphone -9/10.
-fst usb and bluetooth..9/10.
overall i wud give it 9/10....
i was very disheartened wen i heard the model has been discontinoued...but still managed to find this masterpiece in a hotspot store in delhi..price is 17500...with 1 gb card..also got a bluetooth free wid the handset..
ITS A COLLECTORS ITEM ....REALLY.
FEW Things i expected but didnt get was..
- gps navigation,,
- small phone memory.128mb..
- no color covers..
- front camera does work …except video call..
- No volume up down button.
- Headset volume could have been a bit more higher specially who lyks high volume.
- No profiles..
I hope my P1i stays wid me for gud 4-5 yrs and stays away from any problems…

Waiting to see Sony Experia and N97….hope they both do well…
